  2. Include me in this challenge! I need help getting over my hump! I'm hoping for a larger loss, but I'll start with 11lbs. name ...... starting# ....... current#.........goal#.......togo# Rainer...........264................264..............248.........16 wombat712....154.8.............154.8............140.........14.8 LessnLess......172................172..............164.........8 metawnny......252................252..............240.........12 Skinny_Jill......195.................195.............180..........15 Candle .........218.................218..............207.........11 KarenG..........207.................207.............199...........8 Hopping to it .350.................314.............294..........20 SWEETY........180.................180.............170..........10 juliegeraci.......220.................220.............210..........8 Trystelle.........219.................219.............205..........14 Susan4794......240.................240............225..........15 rharriet...........367.................256.............248..........8 nip50.............250..................250............238..........12 keekahari........220.................220.............205..........15 want2lose.......236.................236.............225..........11
  3. I was actually at a caucus last night. It was quite the experience. I'm glad my top two choices have won! I also am having a hard time liking Hillary. It will be interesting to see how the election goes from now on.
  4. I found a way to get back on track... go shopping! I had gotten a couple gift cards for Christmas, and since my old clothes are falling off me, I decided to get some new pants. I was able to get a size 18!!! Considering I was busting out of my 24's this summer I was pretty excited. So even though I may have cheated more than I wanted over the week, I am now motivated to get going again!
  5. I am also thankful Christmas is over for this year. I felt like I was eating non stop for two days. I enjoyed a few goodies, some wine, and good starchy food, now I'm ready to throw out all the junk and get back on track. At least I haven't gained weight. I was banded on Nov. 5th and haven't had a fill yet. I was hoping to stretch it out, but I think I am due for one soon. Even though my meals are still small and I feel retricted I notice I am hungry a lot more. My weight loss has also flat lined. At first, the weight just melted off, now I've been losing and gaining the the same 2-3 lbs.

Glad to see there are other Disney freaks among us! For those wondering about costs and planning... we always book through AAA We get some discount maybe 10%, but better than nothing. The above website is great. Also check out DISboards. I think it is best to plan ahead before you get there so you can avoid the crowds and ride as much as you can. For me the planning is as much fun as the trip! We can't wait to go back. Even if I can't eat as much most of the restaurants are fun and entertaining. My favorite Disney memory... Epcot is our favorite park. On our first family trip It started to rain right after illuminations (fireworks) Instead of racing with the crowds to the exit we walked the long way around the world showcase. It was so much fun playing in the rain and seeing the park close down. We felt like we had the whole park to ourselves. The girls had fun in each country and we could take pictures with nobody else in them. By the time we got to the front of the park there were only a few other people around. We got on an empty bus and headed back to our resort. I love it when it rains!
  7. I need help also! I have done really well until the last week. I kept telling myself one little bite won't hurt, but I haven't lost anything all week. So I told myself that after Christmas I will throw out all the junk and get back to the gym. I am really happy with my results so far, and one beauty of the band is my cheats are small compared to last year at this time. I just don't want to ruin all the work I've done so far. It's nice to finally want to have pictures taken. Yesturday we celebrated my daughter's birthday and it was the first picture I was really happy about with me in it!
  8. I can relate, Monday was my first day back at the gym since last spring. I was really nervous before going in, I even drove around the block to talk myself into going in. But I am so glad I forced my butt on the treadmill. I have been gong every night since. They have now added group classes so Monday I will try Pilates, Tuesday is Tae Boe, I play volleyball on Wednesdays so I don't go to class and on Thursday is a circuit training. I am the largest one, but I can do everything and I feel so much better! My goal is to keep going. Besides it is definately paying off on the scale. I had set a goal to be at 240 by Christmas, last night after support group, I stepped on the scale and I saw 238.9!!! OMG I about fainted. Much better than 295 this summer!
  9. I love the chocolate, but I have to agree, the unflavored is gross! I can't even stand the smell of it. I've tried it in jello, pudding, yogurt, etc and it doesn't get any better. My chocolate is gone and I still have almost a 3/4 full container of unflavored. My nutritionist gave me some unflavored from GNC. It at least doesn't smell so nasty, and it is actually better.
  10. I also teach in a high school. I have had several students make postitive comments. I had one comment I will always remember. This was right before Thanksgiving break. I was coming in to school one morning and one of my 9th grade students saw me. He asked if I have been losing weight. He then went on to tell me to keep up the good work. He then laughed and joked, "Don't eat too much turkey, you don't want to gain it back" I thanked him for making my day. He was then killed in a car accident that weekend. :think Why do horrible things happen to the good ones? I haven't stopped thinking about him and his family since. So to everyone enjoy those postitive comments!
  11. I went to the back of my closet and found a pair of jeans I haven't been able to wear in about 3-4 years. They were a size 18W. It doesn't matter if they are a stretchy jean, I got them zipped and I wore them all day! Much better than the 22-24's I was wearing this summer! All my other dress pants and clothes I wear to work are falling off me.
  12. My kids knew about my decision from the moment I got my insurance approval. My girls are 14,12, and 9. They have been totally supportive of my decision since then. My oldest, who has like 5% body fat thought I was going to starve myself. The other two were understanding. I was glad I told them. That way they didn't have to worry about me the week after surgery, and they understood why I couldn't eat food for so long before and after surgery. I figured they were part of the reason I wanted to get healthy and wanting to change our eating habits so we can all be healthier, so why not let them know.
  13. My turn!! I've enjoyed reading all your bios. My name is Lisa. I teach high school English. I am 41 and for the first time in 9 yrs I weigh under 250 lbs! I have been married for 17 yrs and we have 3 dd's. Alicia 14, Danielle 12, and Kelli 9. We live in Iowa. I was banded on Nov. 5th and have enjoyed a month of losing a lot of weight! I love to play volleyball and softball, although I have gotten a lot slower the last few years as my weight kept getting bigger and bigger. I was tired of being the biggest on my team, (women's and co-ed) so I was ready to do something permanent. DID NOT want bypass so I've found the lap-band and have been singing it's praises since! I went to my first WW meeting with my mom when I was still in high school. I've always been able to lose weight, but always struggled to keep it off. Finally decided to be fat and happy until high blood pressure and diabetes started knocking on the door. I am a very competitive person so I will make this work. When I lose 100lbs I told myself I'd get a tattoo. I've always thought of getting a fairy or butterfly, now I can get a nymph and have meaning behind it!
  14. I was banded on Nov. 5th. So far I've lost 31lbs since surgery and I definately can tell I have restriction. I just saw my Dr. this morning. He and I are very pleased with how things are going. He is also very conservative with fills. I have nothing scheduled right now. I will see him again in 2 months. Maybe by then I'll need something.
  15. I also can't believe that I've been banded only a month ago! I feel like a different person. At first the weight just melted off me. This week though it has slowed way down. Which is ok because I don't want to lose too fast. I certainly feel restricted even without a fill. Still on mushies but possibly after I see the Dr. on Monday I'll be on to regular food. It is amazing how I am making what used to be one meal into two! We were at the mall the other day and for supper I got myself a plain bean cheese burrito. I just ate the middle of it and I got full on just half of it. So I wrapped it back up and took it for my lunch the next day. Some days I have a hard time getting in the required Protein and Water. Does anyone else get bugged that your food gets cold before you can eat it all? I never had that problem before, but now with little bites and taking my time I am constantly having to re-heat it to keep it warm. It's also funny to be the last one eating from my little plate. I was able to start playing volleyball again! Yes, even though I am 100lbs overweight I have always played and loved volleyball. (Just not as quick as I used to be. ) Anyway, I felt so good and actually felt I could jump higher than I did a month ago!
  16. Congrats on your weight loss so far! I have also been shocked at how the weight has been dropping for me. I was 295 this summer and last week at my appt. I was at 248! I have not weighed under 250 in about 6 years. I too, worry about losing too quickly. This week my weight loss has slowed down a little. I had my surgery on Nov. 5th. Keep us posted on your success. Are your clothes starting to hang on you? I haven't been hungry as well. My Dr. is pretty conservative with fills, so I don't even have one scheduled yet. Another lady I know who was banded with my Dr. didn't need one until 5 mos. after her surgery. Keep us posted on your progress.
  17. I took 2 weeks, but only because I had sick days available. I could've easily gone back after 1 week. The second week I just considered a mental health week to catch up and get aquainted with my new band and eating schedule. I had my surgery on Monday and didn't actually feel good until Saturday. Of course I had staples in my inscisions and they didn't get removed until the Wednesday of the 2nd week. They really started to itch and bother me by then. If you have the time, don't rush it.
  18. It was definately a different Thanskgiving, but one I didn't mind at all! As we were driving home after our second meal of the day I told my dh that I was absolutely stuffed! At 11:30 we were at my sister-in-laws. Everything looked and smelled great. The only things I felt like I could eat were a spoonful of sweet potatoe casserole, a spoonfull of green bean casserole, and some mashed potatoes w/ gravy. The turkey looked a little dry, so I was afraid to try any of it. I ate real slow and chewed a lot. Other people with more food on their plates, took less time to eat than I did. Then I had a couple bites of pumpkin pie minus the crust. Later that night we went over to my mom's house. There I had some cranberry Jello salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes and a little bit of turkey shredded and mixed with some gravy. It was heavan! I still only had about a teaspoon of each. It was so nice to be able to eat basically the same dinner that everyone else was eating, but in way smaller quantities. As I said on the way home I told my husband I felt stuffed like in past years even though I ate a fraction of what I used to.
  19. I was banded on Nov. 5. I am really surprised that I am not hungry at all! I have been following my Dr's diet plan to a T and believe me it is not much. I finally got moved to mushies today and it is surprising how full I got. I couldn't even eat 4oz of food. I'm glad I feel restricted, because I am also losing. I know a gal that has been banded by my Dr. this July and she is just now scheduling her first fill!
  20. Isn't it funny how everyone acts differently towards you after the surgery? My family is big on not wanting to eat in front of me. They apologize if they make popcorn or when deciding what to make for supper they ask if it is ok with me for them to eat it. I'm like you don't need my permission. For instance last night I took what they made and made a soup for me to eat. Wasn't too bad. It's amazing what I can do with a blender now.
  21. It is amazing what two weeks off of a job will do for a person. As well as losing 20lbs. I was banded on Nov. 5th. I took 2 weeks only because I had the days available and I didn't really know how much time I would need. Anyway today was my first day back to work since I had my surgery. (I am a teacher in a high school. ) It is amazing all the compliments I've gotten so far. I told several friends in the faculty about my surgery, but I only told my students I had to be gone for some surgery. I had also gotten my haircut. Everybody just says what a different person I am. They say I look happier and younger. Even students are commenting on my hair etc. I'm sure in their heads they're wondering what was really going on. It is also good to know that I was missed. Especially when you teach in a tough school with kids that are not always the most respectful bunch. I've been told by several kids that they were glad I'm back and they felt lost when I was gone. So far everything has been really postitive. I have gotten a few eye rolls from some people that think I took the easy way out, but for the most part everybody has been really supportive of me. I just try to stay away fromt he negative people. So I thought it would be fun to tell about any comments/compliments you may have gotten from other people.
  22. I've never been a big coffee drinkier, but what I like to do is mix a cup of coffee with my chocolate Unjury for a great cup of Mocoa Coffee. It helps get my day going and I don't feel hungry after. My Dr. says coffee and tea in moderation is ok.
  23. Glad to hear everything is going well for you. I also will be celebrating my 2 week bandiversary tomorrow! I was banded on Nov. 5th and can 't believe how much better I feel. I am on a restrictive diet, but I don't feel deprived and I am losing quite a bit right now. When I see my Dr. on Wed he may move me to the mushy stage for Thanksgiving and the following week. Last night I went out with some friends. We were in a Mexican restaruant and I was drinking Iced Tea and enjoying a night out. I didn't even feel bad that I couldn't eat or drink the margaritas. I did look at the menu and tried to figure out what I could eat in the future instead of my smothered chimi In years past if I was on a diet I would've talked myself out of it for a night and eaten, but with the band I had to really think about the outcome and it is worth it to wait. I was just glad to be with my friends out in public and enjoying myself. Keep up the good work Phil and the rest of us Nov. bandsters!
  24. Welcome to our group. Since finding this great community I find it hard to go anywhere else. Good luck on your future surgery! I had mine on Nov. 5 and I have been extremely happy. Wait until you see the lbs melt away. It is actually fun to step on the scale.
  25. I believe everything you just said wheetsin. Here is what my Dr. has his patients do. Full liquids for 1 week prior to banding- anything that will go through a straw including creamed sopus, pudding, yogurt, and Cream of Wheat. Clear liquid the day before. The day of banding I only got nourishment through an IV or ice chips. then the next morning get the barium swallow then only clear liquids for 1 week or until I see him. Saw him Wed. he moved me to full liquids and told me to come back next week and he may move me to mushies depending on how I do. He wants us to get used to small portions at each meal so we are only allowed 3 oz. at each meal. Of course in b/t we are to sip Water, crystal lite, Protein, etc. Then after a week of mushies we can move to food with caution.
