Hello all - I am 32, married for almost 7 years with one little 3 yr old boy. He was born w/ a birth defect, so my goal to have another is for hubby and I to do it w/ out meds. I feel that is what caused it. Ok so that's not about the band but the PCOS is and I was baout to have my little one. So if you want them and have PCOS it could be possible. Job - well I actually work for my surgeon now. LOVE IT!!! Helping others and educating them on the band is just a life's dream. I have been in banking since I was 18..so this is a huge change for me. But I feel totally honored to be able to work for such a great man. I will be banded for 1 year on the 13th this tuesday. WOW where does the time go. I have lost in the neighborhood of 85 pounds. Very happy with that. Still going...Started @ 316 so I can't complain I am much more healthier. I have been overfilled once - and have had flipped port. But would I do again. YES EVERYDAY if I had to. So glad to meet other 30's and banded people....

Mine flipped on me also - got if fixed March 15th. I was at the hospital @ 7 and home @ 12 or 1. It was under general but it was really easy. Agreed much easier then the band surgery itself. Good Luck!!!

Hey keep us posted you just never know. I have a sister in law that lives like an hour from there so I could go an visit her. Then happen to go to Biltmore. I also have an aunt in Maryville, TN just beside Knoxville so next time you are there let me know and maybe I can make a visit there. I love meeting banded people!!!! Ok so I am finally better!!!! I think it was a combo of the Iron pill and a virus. Go figure..I am just glad it's gone. I did loss 4 pounds in one day..I guess you could say I had a lot poop in me. hehe.... Karen how does it go? One more week of liquids and you start working in mushies. Yeah!!!! I am so proud of you...you are doing great. Wavy - I used STD because w/ Wachovia if you are written out for 8 consective days including weekends you can use your STD. I did and was approved for 2 weeks. So depending on the doc and if you tell them I am sure they will work with you. That is what I did. How is everyone else? Kathy, Jennifer, Dianne, Melissa, Angie, Loretta, Vickie? I know I am missing others so chime on in... We have a busy weekend...tomorrow swim lessons and finish Curtis' room then I got ticket to Tim and Faith concert tomorrow night!!! Sunday we are going to Jay Jay the plane and to a birthday party...thank goodness I have monday's off...I need them to re-coup.

Karen girl you are doing good...You are for sure still bloated...I think it took a week for me. A lot of walking... Jennifer feel free to pm me. The meeting was small but it's a start....I didn't expect anyone so I was surprised when there were a few there. I was happy!!!! Ok so I am VERY sick...these Iron pills are KILLING me. You don't want to know where I am at right now typing this. Really...I have spent over 1/2 my day there. I don't know if it's a stomach bug or what....but I am bad off. I am running a fever now and I am going to bed as soon as I can get done here. Say a little prayer for that it's gone when I get up in the morning. I feel horrible!!!! Good Night!!!

Ok so we had a small support group meeting but it was very good. I even learned things... I was able to answer alot of questions for pre-op patients. I love it because I know I was the same way. Let me tell you there are alot more people out there that have then band then on here. If we had them all were we would have to rent a place each month to get together. hehe... Melissa - how funny my sister and I are 5 years apart and couldn't stand each other growing up. However now no one can have her, we are the closest anyone could ever be. We talk 2 - 5 times a day every day...She is my best friend well next to my band. :scared: Karen girl I am so proud of you...do us proud!!! Jennifer how is that back doing? Dianne you go with your shirt...I too love that feeling. It's great I love being a loser. :clap2: Wavy - listen to Melissa I remeber how bad it was for her. She want steer you wrong on this one. Ok so I am painting Curtis' room tonight, my mom came over to help. I was trying to keep Curtis on his bed because he wanted to "help" us. Well he came over to give me a kiss and laid right on the wet wall. Yes I had an imprint of my child on his wall. It's was a pain the you know what to get rid of it.

Congrats Karen - I am so happy for you. I had just gotten the email from Stef that everything went well and you were doing good when Dr. V left you. Now don't start slipping past me to fast...

I do the billing for our surgeon..BC/BS of NC says the band is investagortial and they want cover it. Go figure... My expereince w/ all the differnet BC/BS is they want a doctor supervised diet...our BC/BS requires a 5 year weight history (one weight per year for the last 5 years.) BC/BS has a healthy lifestyles section - check into that we encourage all our patients to sign up for it becuase it pays for a nutritionest so it's not out of pocket money for you. Good Luck and fight - don't take no for an answer!!!!

Still no word...Dr. V will be in the office soon so I will call work and see if I can find out anything. Who knows Karen may be posting on here before we know it.

Well I didn't think anyone was going to be able to make it. We can still have it if you want...Or we can postpone it to July or Aug...

Hey everyone!!!! I have been SO busy with work and life...go figure. I now think things might start settling down...well maybe. We had a surprise party for my in-laws this past saturday and I had to plan the WHOLE thing so it was tough. But everyone had a good time and I think that is what was important. Karen should be just over half way done in surgery...it's about an hour long. So Dr V should be getting ready to finish up. Kathy you are so funny - being fired. You know my grandparents kept Curtis until he was just over a year old...I thought they would be that way but nope...which I am glad. They still keep him about once a week or so and they just let him go. He is a boy and he is going to get hurt but he will be ok. You are a great mom - your kids are loved and you are there for them. What more can you ask for. Melissa how are you? Karah looks like she is having fun. They are all so much fun...I love kids. Dianne I love sex on the beach - Mike would like it to if he would try. haha. You go w/ your weight loss. You look great!!!! Angie - I am coming up w/ you. I need a vacation too. Have fun girl you deserve it. Vickie - hang in there don't worry to much about lossing weight right now, your still healing. Most docs want do a fill until you are 6 weeks out. So don't push it but when the time is right you will get it. Wavy - They are right...do you have UHC? They can call and start the case with out but they need to have it when UHC calls because they will ask for the LOMn, Psych, Nutirition and your TSH level. Sometimes they want the the H&P from your first visit. A lot of time with UHC when you call in the info to get the case started, they want need the clinical items and you get approval. So hang in there...girl I am pulling for you. Ok I think I have rambled enough....I love you guys!!! Don't forget for anyone that can come our support group meeting is tonight @ 6:30. One of our RN's will be there along w/ myself. We will have about 30 mins of "clinical"/ education time and then a time for people to ask questions. It will be fun so please try and make it...our next one will be in Aug because we will be closed on July 3rd..

I love this place you all crack me up... Karen I think I was told 2 weeks or until I felt ok with it. Well I am young also but I feel like I am 80 when it comes to that. My poor hubby gotta love him....he is so patient w/ me.

They are so correct....try everything you can to stay away from carbs..you want stay full long at all and that will just cause the grazing. A fill shouldn't be done until you are at lease 6 weeks out. So hang in there. Get some yogurt and add some unflavored protien...you will be suprised how long that keeps you full. Hang in there...

Ok so I am the late one...Good Luck Karen. I am not at work today but have instructed John to call me to let me know everything went well. If I don't hear anything by lunch time I will call the office and find out. I know it will all go well!!!! Love Ya!!!!

Girl that is AWSOME....I am so happy for you. I thought a felt a whirlwind all the way down here in the Carolina's. hehe....You don't have to prove nothing to us...you can tell it when we see you. Jennifer oh my you are going to be educated household. Your daughter is just beautiful...I am so glad I finally got to meet her. Karen - go glad you are moving along. Girl it will be here before you know it. I am so excited for you... Wavy be careful because when I submit clinical info to the insurance I have to always to submit the psych, nutrition and TSH level. Some companies require a 3 - 5 year weight history and some require 3 visits to psych, nutrition, fitness...so each company is different but the first 3 things are required by all companies or it will be denied. Belive me that is the first thing I learned. What insurance do you have and I can check to see what is needed...I will say Jennifer is correct in saying they don't "need" it always for UHC. I submitted one last week by calling and starting the claim the next thing I know it was approved and I didn't even send any clinical info...gotta love those approvals. Ok so I need to say I love this group also - I have been reading some of the threads out there and WOW it's deep out there. When I tell people at work about the the site - I tell them to ignore the main pages and come right to the NC threads. No kidding I tell them there are some good threads and some bad ones...so don't read everything and believe it. Angie glad you made it safe and sound...I hope you really enjoy your vacation. Are you visiting family and friends? Tell them your banded family from NC says hello and to take care of you and the girls. Pain for me today!!!! I took an iron pill yesterday and I think it got stuck. I pbed lunch and dinner and then the cheese this morning..then I couldn't even drink...so it was hot tea and hot soup for me today. Julie our nurse was great to me...hopefully tomorrow will be better if not the fill is coming out so that stupid pill will go down. UGH!!!!! Lesson learned this pill needs to be cut in 1/2... Alright it's late for me and I still have some work to do...have a great night and I will chat later.

Ok it's Tuesday night - what I am suppose to do now... Oh wait get out and exercise...could that be a option. haha

Wavy - Jennifer is correct. They can submit it. The HP test isn't something that is required by insurances. So they don't need a neg to submit. You should have your approval before you get re-tested and then it's surgery time for you. Jennifer and Karen it sounds like ya'll had a great weekend. It's nice that ya'll are so close.
