Help Needed Please...
Ok this is the 2nd time I have tried to post this....UGH computers. My cousin and her family lost everything last night in a house fire. They are all still numb and just don't know what to do. They have nothing but the clothes on thier backs and of course family. Thank goodness her mom lives in Monroe about 15 minutes from her. So she has a place to stay. I am tring to get things together and will be making trips out there to them everyday I have to. Here are some clothes sizes that they are - if you are getting rid of any that might fit them please let me know and I will try and buy them from you. Kristy (my cousin) 10-12 Ray (her husband) 32x32 or 34 and med shirts Charlie (almost 3) 4 - 5 Misourie (13) 14 slim or a 1 Juniors Russell (her 16 or 17 yr oldstep son) 30x32 and a med shirt They have no toys, no school supplies nothing. There are 2 great things that have happened which are just amazing to me. Last night while looking for hot spots they found the bunny that they had gotten at Easter ALIVE. The cage was melted, the roof collapsed and that bunny is doing well. Then today while we were going going through what we could we found 2 Bibles in a drawer that had not been burnt, they weren't wet or anything. Tell me someone wasn't watching out for them. (Becuase none of them were home, if they were someone would have been hurt because it started upstairs where thier bedrooms are.) So any help would be great appreciated even if all you can do is a say a little prayer for them. They need everything. Thanks guys in advance!!!!

Dianne it great to hear you having a good time with your momma. I don't know what I would do if I didn't leave near my mom. I depend so much on her. We had our family reunion yesterday and at first I thought it was going to be a bad turn out but it turned out really good considering the weather. Then mom and I get the pictures ready for granny's party so tha tast is done for next weekend. It was really neat finding so old pictures and seeing my grandmother so young and how much my family has changed over the years. We are going to do family pictures next saturday. That should be fund the last we had one was when Curtis was 6 months old. Well we are off to early service and then heading to Carowinds - of course we have to take a change of clothes but that is ok....So have a great sunday and I will chat later. Hope everyone is doing good!!!

The Sleeve
The surgeon I work for does these, but not on patients he bands. It can be considered the 1rst stage of a by-pass or DS. I asked and he has never heard of anyone doing this on someone they are going to band. Yes you are right it's taking part of the stomach out to make it like a tube. There is not re-routing or any organs. Yes there is no inplanted devices in your body. My surgeon has had great sucess with it. Some it's the only thing he has had to do because they have lost all the weight. Others he has had to do some of the 2nd stages mostly to a DS. Good Luck!!!!

STUPID f'n band! what is WRONG!!!
The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. (I work for the my surgeon now so fill or unfill is no problem with me.) I wasn't lossing much and eating more not a lot but more. So I asked for a fill. They took me from 2.8 to 3.0, too much after a week so they took some out I am now @ 2.85 or 2.9 and it's working great so pb's but not many at all. It's weird I think it when we get to that "green zone" or something weird like that. Not sure but I totally fill your pain.

Spouse/Family Support
Hey Donna - my DH was also one that was against the whole thing. That is until I took him to semiars and he learned more about the band. Mom was no problem she had a weight problem her whole life also so she backed me 100% from the start. DH quickly came around and has been there every step of the way. I think your mom will come around with time. When you go to the semiars have your mom go. Let her meet some banded people. It really helps....

Hey Donna - Welcome!!! I love my band. I am not familiar with any doctor in Monroe that does the lap-band. I used Dr. Voellinger of course I love him and now I work for him. Have heard good things about Dr. Bauman. We don't care where you go as long as you can get help. Being a patient and now working for a bariatric office my first thing would be yes call your insurance. Ask them if the cover CPT code 43770. (that is the lap-band in insurance terms.) If you have BCBS of NC they do not cover it at this time. They are reviewing the medical policies so they could soon but we don't know when. If insurance doesn't cover it and it's something you want there are self-pay options out there. I can help you more off-line about those if that is a route you have to take. If insurance covers start looking for doctors. Go to the seminars they are all free and it lets you meet your doctor. I went to 3 different dr's seminars and chose the one that I felt best went with me. Yes it delayed the surgery because the semiars were spread out but you are talking about my life and I want the best care I can get. Each doctor has their own way of doing things. Good Luck and I hope I answered some questions for you...Please feel free to email me or pm if you have any questions. Again Welcome!!!!

It's not very big right now we sometimes get out earlier then there are sometime talkative people there and it sometimes goes over an hour. Hope everyone had a great sunday. We went to see mom and dad again. My sister fixed us all lunch which was really nice. Not it's getting close to dinner time and I have NO idea what to do. Go figure. Hope you all have a great night and good Monday. I have to work all day and then go to the support group meeting so not sure how much extra time I will have. Anyone have anything exciting going on this week? We have a reunion this coming weekend @ the pool. It's the 22nd year we have had it.
