I am a bit stoned on Protein Shakes and liquids Vicodin/Tylenol. Is this a separate app or part of BP? Can someone just tell me? If I google, I know I will get caught up watching kitty videos and I am able to get on treadmill beginning Monday.

I am amazed how different some of our post op directives are... Not in a bad way, just such a range. I was sleeved on 9/22 and am on full liquids two full weeks. Puréed starts next week and I can begin treadmill type exercise as opposed to leisure strolling. Puréed is another two weeks, then soft foods... I was encouraged to take 6 weeks off of work. Not sure how long I will be off, but I think 4 weeks for sure. I had post op with Dr yesterday and don't go back for 5 weeks.

I'm so freaking happy right now! I just got my lab results from my PCP (who I see every 3 months because of T2 diabetes).
I haven't taken my metformin or my statin since surgery. I was on the highest does of a statin (80mg) pre-op, I had been monitoring my blood sugars, and they've been great.
Right before surgery my A1C was 6.4 while on 500mg of metformin 2x day. Last week, 4.5 weeks post-op, it's 6.1 w/o meds. I'm so happy!!!
My cholesteral total is 205 (ldl 148 hdl 33). I may end up on a low dose of a statin, we'll see. But the kicker is my triglycerides are normal (123...<150 is normal range). I can't remember them being below 300 in years, no matter what I eliminated from my diet.
I am just so amazed and grateful that in essentially a month after surgery I've seen such a difference.

Sleeved 8/18/14. Stepped on scales Friday and was thrilled. I weighed in at 299. Its been 30 years since I have been under 300. Highest weight was 420 + so 299 looks amazing! Journey is not easy but is well worth it. Today was a true test as I attended my sons 30th birthday party which had lots of food, cake and a candy "bar" I had no desire to eat anything I shouldn't have. I take my lunch bag with me whenever I am away frim home more than 3 hours with the foods and drinks I can have. Things are going well. Thank you Jesus for the opportunity you have given me.

It is a very effective tool. It is also a life altering surgery... Both good and bad... And not to be taken lightly. I considered it for several years. Finally decided it was my best alternative. I am only 3 weeks out and admit the rough recovery has made me doubt my decision. But I think 6 months from now I will be very glad I did this. Heed the advice above. Go to some support group meetings and meet people who have had it done. Don't rush it.

Bring no bad for you food into your home! Fortunately the hunger should be easily satisfied. Make sure the "hunger" is not actually thirst...drink plenty of Water. Im working out so much now that I can tell my body want more calories. I just know as long as I can tell that then my body is burning fat. I'm losing a pound a day and I'm just over 3 months out and over 100 lbs lighter!

I'm now 7 months post-op and just as my doctor warned me, the hunger is returning. I've been in a stall for a few weeks, which is fine because I had some weeks when the weight was just falling off. The problem now is that I'm feeling real hunger more frequently. I'm continuing to make healthy choices and being more diligent about tracking what I eat. Any other suggestions on how to control the hunger beast would be appreciated!

auntjanny reacted to Jordan861 in How tall are you and what is your goal dress/pant size?
The smallest I have been since an adult was a 13 (very tight), so I can not imagine anything smaller than that - single digit sizes are like unicorns to me. In July I was size 22/24 on bottoms and 2x (men's)shirts dress sizes 22. I am now in size 16 on bottom (comfortable) and lg/xl (ladies) shirts. I was very bless in the top area so I can't imagine getting to a medium shirt unless I loose a lot of boobage. After reading some of the stories I could only dream of the unicorn - Size 8

I just posted this in another thread where someone was asking about how I can get 85-100 grams of Protein in per day. I'm only one month out and still on soft foods.
This is what I ate yesterday. It was 101 total grams of Protein.< /p>
    Breakfast: Protein shake (17g)
Morning Snack: Reduced Fat String cheese (8g)
Lunch: Leftover Wendy's Chili w/ .5 oz. of Reduced Fat cheese (12 g)
Afternoon Snack: Leftover Lobster Bisque with some Reduced Fat Cheese (11g)
Pre Work-out Snack: 1/2 Whole Wheat Mini Pita with 1 TBSP Hummus (4g)
Dinner: Shelly's Ricotta Bake 1.5 servings - I usually have 1/6th of recipe but last night had 1/4th (19g)
    Evening Snack: Protein Shake (30g)

This is what I plan to eat today. It's 90 total grams of protein.

Just checkin in...day four of gettin back at it! I've worked out everyday, kept my calorie intake between1100 and 1300, and my spirits are still high. I'm using my fitness pal and looking into doing the 5:2 diet. I saw it on this forum when I joined up!!!!
I did gain a pound so I'm now at 211 but I'm not discouraged. I'm in it to win it this time around! Oh yeah....definitely feeling more restriction since drinking more Protein shakes instead of shoveling in the food! ????

I have BC/BS MI PPO and saw my surgeon last Tuesday and they scheduled my surgery for Oct 9. They sent in my insurance papers after the apt, and I had call yesterday from their office telling me what my co-pay would be. I asked her if I was approved and she said "of course," like why wouldn't I be. I was surprised because I thought that someone would call and tell me that I was approved.

Well... It wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Came home from Vegas 3.5lbs heavier. But, I honestly think some of that is travel bloat. My eyes were even puffy this morning. I've had about 4 liters of Water and only doing shakes and P3 Protein packs (just one). I had a Quest bar right before the gym so I'd burn those carbs up fast. Here's hoping for a decent drop tomorrow!

I am on day 8 of the pre op diet. I am allowed only sugar free liquids for 14 days. I have been on target the whole time. I think some of what I read on this forum has helped me stay on track. I've heard that the surgeon can tell by the sight of your liver whether you have stuck to liquids or not. It is possible that, if you have cheated on the pre op diet, that he could stitch you back up and send you home. The thought of this horrifies me and has actually helped me stay on track when I get really hungry or have cravings.
I have been to two family gatherings (barbecue and wedding shower) that had loads of tempting foods since I've been on my pre op diet. I've been doing this mental trick in which I convince myself that solid food is poisen. I know that sounds silly, but I've been wanting this surgery for the past year and I'm not gonna blow it by cheating. Also, if you keep yourself busy and exercise, it really helps. Good luck!

    Good morning all,
I am 27yrs old from Chicago, Illinois. I had The Sleeve surgery / VSG in September 2012, two years ago. It was the best decision I've ever made, no regrets at all! I started at 248lbs and currently weigh 150lbs. I stopped losing weight after one year, but I've maintained a healthy BMI.
To everyone who has had weight loss surgery; you know how amazing it is, even through our struggles. To those of you who are awaiting surgery; be patient.. It will be one of the greatest things you have ever done. GOOD LUCK!!! And also, don't let anyone tell you it's an easy way out. Once in a while, I still battle those junk food cravings.
I wish you all the best in the world!!!!

@Rovoboy , thank you for checking in on me and thank everyone soooooo much for the support!!! I most definitely need it. He admitted yesterday that he is "beating me to the punch" because I will leave him when I get smaller (which is a load of crap) but none the less he is set on a divorce and unfortunately right now I don't have the energy to fight it. Surgery went really well for me and now I just have to try to stay focused. With the current situation it is pretty hard to get all my fluids in because I am not hungry or thirsty so it is hard to remember to sip all day long while my mind is beating myself up for "why I couldn't keep him happy."
BUT none the less I went threw with the surgery and now I HAVE to think about myself cause no one can drink the Protein for me or make the daily choices that will effect me the rest of my life. So as pathetic as it may sound I am taking my life minute by minute and hour by hour.... .THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!! Thank goodness for BP
