auntjanny got a reaction from beldujour in secret surgery: what else can you tell someone if they ask?
I use the transgender surgery option, clear my throat, talk a little deeper, and say, "you can call me Uncle Janny if you want"

Tip for hiding flabby upper arms!! Buy short sleeved polo's and T-shirts in the men's dept. They are less expensive and the sleeves come down further. Double bonus!

I am so sorry about all of the people you have around you, it is most certainly harder without a good support network behind you. What I do know is 4 months out I am down 86 lbs and feel better than I have in YEARS and I know that you will too. There are support groups that are normally within your practice when you have surgery so I would use them to the full extent, see if you can find some local sleevers to help you out, I would be happy to be on your team as I am very PRO Sleeve.
A message to your co-worker, IT'S NOT EASY that's for sure...it's a uphill battle to make sure that you get in all of the Vitamins and nutrients that your body needs. Sounds like a very uninformed individual and shame on them for even saying that. I decided that this was the year for ME, I always put everyone ahead of myself and in order for me to get better for them (Husband and kids) I need to be better for myself.
You do this for yourself hun and in a couple of months all those co-workers will be jealous of the hot new you!! WE are all here for you, don't think for a moment you are alone!

I had sleeve surgery Oct 2011 & am 58 yrs old & 5' tall. Went from 192 to 117 pounds. This is the 1st time as an adult that I enjoy all foods & have a desire to make healthy choices. I have been on 100's of diets but no longer need this mentality. I don't tell people about my surgery b/c I eat normally & no one notices I eat smaller portions. You can do this. Give yourself the best gift you can & have the sleeve operation.
    My best to you.

Hi all, I joined this forum in 2011 anticipating surgery, but my employer's insurance would not approve, but then I came down with leukemia and that totally shot it out of the Water. But I am back and hope it will be happening before the end of the year, with Medicare since I had to stop working.
I am looking for anyone who has been sleeved or going to be for support and encouragement.
I hope some will pick this group to communicate with others.

Cococat......cold Water and message received. I appreciate the concern and I know this world is full of crooks and shysters and I try to reasonably block them out without being paranoid or constantly watching behind my back....all while trying not to give up my liberty and the pursuit of happiness. For me, it's good to be careful...... within reason. All I can say is if they try to use my image or likeness for their gain.....I want a monthly royalty check from their portion of their proceeds. If they do something worse, I posess a particular set of skills that I have acquired over a lifetime of training, skills that make me a nightmare for people like them. I will look for them, I will find them....and I will end them.

I am 5' (first thing in morning), surgery this Monday. It is impossible for me to imagine at this point smaller sizes. My closet lacks a single piece of clothing that is "too big" on me. This could be really fun!!

I wanted to click mention on all the post, but I am sure ya'll will read it...congrats on your weight loss, and if your not telling yourself how proud you are OF yourself...I will tell you..for you..I AM SO PROUD OF ALL OF YOU.
I am due for surgery the day before Thanksgiving, any and all advise is useful to me right now as my nervous/excitement/anxiety level kicks in high gear.
I am one that does good with...just tell me what to do...and I will do it...I have a leadership type personality..but when it comes to this...nothing has worked thus far in the past trying to take control over weight issues...so now..I just want to be told what to do....and that is what I will do.
So if any of you have the time....can you walk me through one of your average daily food menus and what kind of exercise you are doing. I would greatly appreciate it.
I have had some awesome dreams of succeeding with this gift (sleeve) but I have also had some nightmares of me failing. Is this normal behavior pre-op?

Biggest mistake i made was with the baby food, YUCK, now i know why babies spit that stuff out!!! It was yucky, even the bananas and custard was gross and forget about the meat and veggies, yuck just yuck!
Use your imagination, there are lots of soft / pureed foods you can have, I used to have protien shakes with 2 tbls of greek yogurt and skim plus milk for added protien, they were delish. I would puree chicken and add some sauce, or mayo same with tuna. cheese Soup was one of my favs and ricotta cheese, all high in protien.

Today my hubby told me "you are looking so much skinnier" and that's at 11 days post-op!!!!! I'm excited! I can't wait to reach goal, even when I hit stalls, I will have to remember where I started. My highest weight was 337 a few months ago. I wanted to crawl under a rock! I haven't weighed since Monday, but even then I was 304. That's 33 pounds! Woohoo!

Oh retried Beans with taco seasoning and melted cheese...where have you been my whole life lol...
I never would have eaten plain retried Beans before...but desperate times call for desperate measures hahaha
I had a huge can of vegetarian retried beans so I mixed in a packet and a half of old El Paso Taco seasoning and warned it with a little cheese. So delicious

My surgeon has not had a leak in 4 years. Will be tested for leaks during surgery and one day post op. Dietitian and nurse have said procedures have improved so much that prevent leaks, that drains are not used too much either.

I just ordered and received a bunch of the Syntrax Nectars sample packets from bariatric pantry. Tried caribbean cooler today, and OMG! Delicious!! Really quick delivery. Premier Protein was my favorite until I tasted the chocolate Unjury. Delicious chocolate flavor, and the unflavored blends well without a strong smell or taste.
