You will be FINE. The hardest part is when you are waiting. You'll sleep through the whole thing and when you wake up, you'll get the "good stuff" so you'll spend the next couple of days feeling good! Just know that you'll have gas/air to deal with, but that passes. I've had many types of surgery and it's always the best sleep ever!

Kim I'm sorry you're feeling depressed. This surgery has so much build up (like christmas) and then its really not that fast of a life changer. I wish the results were more instant. I hope after I get my staples out, I'll feel like working out. I already take prozac so hopefully that will still work. I guess we just have to view this as a tool we've been given and make the most of it.

Seems like we should be free to post what we think in this forum- and we are equally free to ignore what others post. I'm pretty sure we all have doctors we paid, and we all should follow their advice.... so why have the forum at all? Variety. I say live and let live.

I had a BMI of 40... After 3 years of fighting, my doctor finally got me approved because of arthritis and IBS. With my insurance you have to have a BMI of 50 if you aren't diabetic or sleep apnea. I think the insurances are staring to see the value in this surgery.

As a post op, I've discovered I love egg drop Soup. I just boil chicken broth, add some soy sauce and garlic salt and drizzle a well scrambled raw egg into the pot. Its wonderful... And still liquid

I dont work anywhere near the medical field, but I don't understand the snobbery. Seems to me all levels of nursing are valuable. Still, not sure its relevant in any discussion. I only care about a nurses expertise if I'm getting direct care from them. We could all go around touting our educational achievements at every opportunity, but that would get old, real quick.

My husband is the only one who knows. The rest don't matter and I don't need their approval (not likely to get it anyway). I know that sounds very negative, but I really don't need every conversation for the rest of my life to be about weight loss/surgery. I just want to get on with life. I tend to compartmentalize my life.. or create fire walls... lol so if one part blows up at least another part will be "safe" still.

I had a coffee addiction that I kicked pre-op. I was never a tea drinker but now, 3 weeks post op, its a life saver. I'm having a hard time with nausea and its the only thing that helps. I've literally sat in the bathroom floor sipping tea... pathetic I know. At this point, I need it. Its probably my most reliable source of fluids (that will stay down).

I get the sneeze and hiccup and it HURTS because I'm still healing. Funny though, I only get it when I'm full of fluids- not ever with food.

It seems like the sticky rice might get stuck... and the way pills get stuck in me, I'm not going near sticky rice. But boy, it sounds great and think how cheap! One roll and I'm good for the day...
