  1. Correction to Tuesday. I had a glass of wine after posting. Wednesday 1540 calories and 24 flights of stairs. Today I'm going out for dinner and drinks, so I'm anticipating 2000 calories at day's end, but if I find a good seafood choice it may be lower. I'll try for 32 flights of stairs today if I can.
  2. WLS isn't the easy way out but for me it is easier than starving every day. The relief from stomach hunger all the time as on previous diets is a miracle. Head hunger is different and hard work to change. I was insulted when my NSETBEx called my WLS the easy way out the night before my surgery. Spoken by another obese person who lost weight once and couldn't keep it off either. WLS easy? At times, yes. At times, no. Effective? Oh yeah.
  3. I've never looked good on a webcam. My daughter Skypes me from college and I'm always startled seeing my mug on the screen. Even on my phone. Lol
  4. Here's what I had for some meals recently. Breakfast 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt with 2 tbsp granola Breakfast I package Buddig beef 100 calorie pack Breakfast I trader joe lite cheddar cheese stick Breakfast 2 oz havarti cheese with dill Breakfast 1/2 of a restaurant bacon cheese omelette with one slice of Greek toast and half an order of hash browns lunch One cup chicken salad Lunch one cup chili Lunch one cup meat spaghetti sauce no noodles Lunch one cup egg salad Lunch 24 raw almonds Lunch 22 raw pecan halves dinner kale salad with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Parmesan cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms and croutons Dinner I cup lobster bisque Soup and six broiled scallops I was told 3-2-1. 3 bites Protein. 2 bites veggies, 1 bite starch, repeat.
  5. If you're in the green zone, describe it here. Me: I can eat about a cup of solid food or a large salad. I chew it well and feel satisfied. If I don't chew meat really well or eat too fast, I get immediately stuck and that's the end of the meal. I can get stuck even on lunch meat eaten too fast. As long as I don't snack between meals, I have no stomach hunger for at least four hours. If I'm "hungry" before four hours, it's probably anxiety, boredom, or another emotion. If I snack between meals it messes up that satisfied feeling and I'm looking for food all day. I'm happier with healthier foods now that I am in the green. My latest favorite is kale salad with mushrooms, croutons, tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I've also fallen back in love with Greek yogurt for Breakfast with two tablespoons of granola. I had a long running affair with hummus a few months ago. I have no desire for French fries or burgers. This blows my mind. I do like Popeyes chicken strips. I also can't seem to ditch movie popcorn, but I know that's an emotional crutch. I can eat almost anything except pork chops, dry chicken breast, and dry roast beef. I am able to eat soft pork, dark meat chicken or moist white chicken, and tender beef. Recently I've been bringing my lunch to work and I'm enjoying it more. Less Popeyes and more chicken salad. I've had five fills over ten months and I have 7.6cc in my 14cc band. What's your green?
  6. Congratulations !!! Welcome to your new life!
  7. Lisa, I guess it depends on the severity and location of the little buggers. Internal ones aren't supposed to hurt when ligated. But external stitches, especially not tiny ones, are in the danger zone for every bathroom break, and there's no getting around it! Ow ow ow! Add mineral oil and laxatives to that to keep everything comfy, and then you're in danger of explosive urgency at any time! Good thing we WLS patients already know to "never trust a fart"! I am 12 days post op and today is the first day I went from adult diapers to a feminine pad. Yes, bleeding daily. It's improving, but slowly. I take three hot baths a day just for pain relief. That said, I'm glad I took care of it. My doc says it will be "nice and pretty" once all healed. Love his humor. However, I had the operation on a Friday and expected to return to work Monday. Um, no. Took Monday off as well. I wish I had planned for three or more days off. It's been exhausting.
  8. Carol, that's amazing success!! Congratulations !!
  9. I have no fat on my rear anymore and I find it painful to sit for hours on any kind of chair or couch, even a soft recliner. The good part about that is I get up and walk the stairs at work at least three times during the day. The bad part is that even going to the movies hurts after an hour. I did not expect that. The other fanny-tastic event of the last couple weeks was a long overdue multiple hemorrhoidectomy. Like eight or nine years overdue. Oh. My. God. I have never had such post op pain in my frickin life. I delivered two babies and just had WLS, and all three of those events were a damn piece of cake compared to this recovery. The good part is I had a nice, funny surgeon who put me at ease and helped me laugh through the humiliation of that hiney exam. I'm proud of myself for taking care of business, so to speak. It's also given me a whole new determination to never let regularity issues get out of control, because I never want to go through that post op again!! Years of obesity and pain medications that contributed to irregularity were the culprit. So, this post ain't delicate or dainty or ladylike, but consider the source. It somehow helps to commiserate. Amirite?
  10. I am struggling with cooking for one. Not one army, one person.
  11. Great advice. And now I know I need to drink waaaay more water.
  12. I was 5'5" and a half most of my life but was measured at 5'5" a few years ago. I never thought to remeasure. Gotta give that a try.
  13. Lisa, you're too darned cute.
  14. Welcome back @@Mikee57!
  15. I go to Goodwill every few weeks. Clothes were rotating out pretty fast.
  16. Welcome to Bandland! Each day should be a little better than the last. Karate chops to the neck and shoulders helps that gas pain. Walking helps too. Take the meds but drink four oz of prune juice to prevent constipation. Good luck!!
  17. Roses here. Really really stinky roses.
  18. I had my surgery in March last year. My last few weeks pre op went by so fast. You will be so happy a year from now !!
  19. Tuesday 1124 calories and 24 flights of stairs. Woot woot!
  20. Search for powder room gone wild and powder room ladies gone wild. I follow both. I don't know how to get the link on this app, or even how to tell which forum it falls under.
