  1. Increase exercise somehow. So far I've added steps at work. Walking up and down flights at work every few hours. I'm up to 12 flights a day.
  2. I am super lazy when it comes to exercise. I am too frickin cold to walk outside in this weather. So this month I started to walk the stairwell at work. I aim for 12 flights a day. Six up and six down. I work on the second floor so I walk down to the basement, back up, back down, take a bathroom breather, then back up to my desk. And repeat a couple of hours later. And then again before I go home. So far this is pretty doable. I don't feel like such a slug.
  3. Never ever ever give up on yourself. Yes. See a new doc and start fresh. Your life is worth saving!!! Use this board as support. Good luck!
  4. I only had a couple of sips of caffeinated coffee Saturday. Decided not to risk caffeine withdrawal again. I spent the day in bed sleeping. Ate almost nothing. Today I'm feeling better and the headache is gone. Out for brunch with my best friend for her birthday and then a lazy afternoon of watching old movies.
  5. Well after three days of eating almost nothing due to my surgery, I've lost a whole pound and a half. Hey I'll take it. Going out for brunch with my bestie today for her birthday followed by watching old movies at her house. I'm still sore and tired, so we're taking it easy. I slept on and off Saturday after no sleep Friday which left me with a migraine. Today I feel better.
  6. So glad to read these updates !!!
  7. Ugh. I was up every hour last night and have a rotten headache today. So tempted to have a cup of caffeinated coffee to knock it out, but I've been caffeine free for about a month. Tylenol ain't doing it. Maybe one cup.
  8. I can be much tighter after a day of liquids. I can eat more in the evening than in the morning. It does fluctuate a lot.
  9. @@Sharon1964, you nailed it. I can relate to many aspects of your post. So much of this battle is fought between the ears. I was very afraid of failure too. I've lost my excess weight before only to regain it. I, too, had to get away from a very toxic person in my life. Many WLS patients benefit from counseling as this process unfolds. We are complex creatures. New issues will continue to bubble up as the weight comes off. Best wishes to you. Thanks for your post.
  10. Ah, living life. Ain't it grand? ????
  11. Welcome. There are many successful banders here. You've decided to live your best life, and that's just the beginning. Yes, it's work. Yes, it's a somewhat slower weight loss than RNY or sleeve. So what. It is right for you. You're gonna rock your band, and then you're on your way to achieving all your dreams. Keep posting. Banders here are very helpful!!
  12. And shop at Goodwill while you're losing. Cheap and enjoyable.
  13. Such tremendous successes in this thread. Kudos to all of you. Body perception is a real issue with WLS patients. We're losing the equivalent of whole persons. Suggestions. Tape an old fat full body picture on your mirror or inside your closet where you will see it each day. Every two weeks pull out that cell phone and do a selfie. Full body. hair done, makeup on, form fitting clothes. Print it out, even on crappy computer paper. You're the only one looking at it anyway. Tape it next to the old photo. Do this every two weeks with a fresh new picture. Look at yourself, your whole clothed body, the way others do. Set a cell phone calendar reminder to "update your sensational selfie". I lost weight in 1988. 130 pounds over 18 months. No cell phones then. The only way to do a selfie was to go to Woolworth's photo booth. I did this every couple of months and put the head shots in a little album. I found that album this summer. Omg. I vividly remember staring at those photos each time, trying to see what others saw. It helped. It really did. Then I met my husband, got married at 156 pounds, gained 11 on my honeymoon and another 150 on top of that over the next 23 years. But that's another story. Lol.
  14. With all due respect, it's your body and your decision. He may never agree. His problem. Once he sees the happiness it brings you, maybe he will see it differently. Agree to disagree and move forward. Your life! Live it!
  15. Awesome NSV!! That's phenomenal. It really is a success and shows you're in this for your health and happiness. Way to go!!!
  16. Not familiar with PCOS personally, and I'm menopausal now. But I lost 130 pounds at age 28 over about 18 months. My periods had been infrequent since my first one at age almost-17. That weight loss kickstarted my cycle big time. Heavy, frequent, crampy. I was told that estrogen is stored in fat. When that fat is released, so is a rush of hormones. Anything goes. Hope things even out for you. As for me, I haven't had a period in two years and I was really worried that my recent 100 pound loss would restart it. But so far nope. Glad not to have to repeat the hot flashes and night sweats. Lol. Good luck.
  17. Yeah. BariatricPal. Post here and read the struggles and successes. They abound!! Good luck and hope to see your posts.
  18. Maybe the whole event was a stuck episode that passed the band finally, but also swelled the area and is causing the spasms. Try to relax and only sip tepid water. Don't get dehydrated and certainly don't eat.
  19. No, and it sounds terrible. I'm so sorry you're in such misery. I'm surprised she put any fluid back in when the symptoms are so strong. If it gets unbearable I'd go to the ER for a total unfill unless she's willing to see you again as an emergency. Hope you're feeling better.
  20. My company took pictures at a volunteer event my kids and I helped out at a few years ago. It's on our internal website. Thankfully my name is not captioned, but there I was at ~300 pounds, directing traffic in a way-too-small orange vest. I looked angry and miserable. I remember being in extreme back pain all day because our one hour shift morphed into four hours when they needed us to stay. I was in excruciating pain. This picture is still on the website and every few weeks I go look at it. I compare it to my portrait pic on my department's subsite, which I recently updated after I got a nice haircut. Oh, and after I'd lost 100 pounds, too. Lol. Pictures bring back the good and the bad. I don't ever want to forget how bad it was. I, too, have an eating in my car horror story. I'll share it sometime. You're a true inspiration. Thanks for your post!
  21. Would you be able to take decongestants for the ear pain? When I was morbidly obese I had to be careful because my blood pressure was sky high and those send it higher. But it sure helps the ear pain.
  22. @@BLERDgirl, awesome is the word that comes to mind reading this. You're a great, inspirational presence on these boards, and I loved reading your story so far!!
  23. Nope. Be your own advocate, explain why, and wait. And keep having success!! Go you!
  24. How about easing into no grazing? How about starting with four small meals a day, focused on protein first, and NOTHING to eat until the next meal? With four meals it can be easier than going to three. Let the band do its between-meal magic where your appetite learns to stay quiet until the next mealtime. The first day or two won't feel much different, but I'd bet by the third day you'll have trained your appetite when to wake up and when to sleep. Whenever I snack, even nuts or fruit, I'm hungrier all day.
  25. Just one and a half days of zero solid food, and look how tight my band gets. Live and learn!
