  2. Good for you! I can't wait to be overweight like you!!!! Shawn
  3. Be sure to do your research from reliable sources! You will hear HORROR stories about any surgery, just ask enough folks. Yes, there are complications with the lapband. Yes, you will get vomiting if you overeat or eat too fast...that is behavior modification and most likely you will do anything to not do that again. Most bandsters have this happen at least once!!! So 90% complications...Look for the serious complications-slippage and erosion. Make sure you can follow up after surgery. Surgery is one part, the other part is maintaining your fills and eating properly. Shawn
  4. BSB1224 I agree with Lyndalafe! Get it at least a week to see if you open up a bit. If not get a bit removed. As you know, from above that I was feeling just like you. I gave it 2 weeks and had a bit removed-ahhhhh relief!
  5. Go DeLarla! 22 pounds and you deserve presents and more!!!Shawn

  14. Thanks for the comments! It's nice to come back, so soon, and find imput... Well, I've decided keep my appt. for a slight unfill (.2). Liquids are fine, thank goodness. Nana, you have a right to be scared on that too-tight episode! I am so glad that you came back to surgeons office in time. I am losing 1-2 pounds a week, like I was before my second fill. What is happening is instead of eating a well rounded bandster diet, I am reverting back to liquids and mushies. I've always told myself that this is a lifestyle change. I am not willing to do the liquid/mushy thing long term. Feeling bad, after 2 bites of food, is not a lifestyle that I want to continue!!! When I called for my appt, the nurse said that sometimes it doesn't take much of a fill to put you over the edge. I should have known better, as I was tight enough when I showed, for my last appt. I didn't want to "kick myself" if I ended up needing another fill in a week or two. So, my surgeon and I agreed to a conservative fill! Funny, two weeks later I am "kicking myself" for having the conservative fill in the first place!!! Shawn
  15. Welcome! Read, read, read and ask, ask, ask! Shawn
  16. Yes! I think most of us have issues with the band depending upon the time of day, time of month, or type of food. You are right, chocolate and junk slide right through that band!!!!! I've kept the junk out of the house and if I am tempted look at calories and nutrition. I might still have it, but it takes more work!! Be sure to exercise, that will help you lose and boost your metabolism..Shawn
  17. Does he want you to lose weight, shrink your liver, or is this a suggestion? Either way, most of us have had the "last meal" syndrome. You can eat most foods when your banded (not quantity). Take a deep breath and try again. Limit snacking...that helped me lose a few pounds pre-op...Shawn
  18. I figure I'd tell who I wanted, which wasn't many! Just try to make many appts the same day. Then state you have some medical stuff going on and may need some testing done. If they ask "why" just say no-big-deal just some "girl stuff (you fill in blank)"
  19. Hmm... I understand how each of us have our confort levels with fills. Some don't mind that they can only eat liquids and others need a more open band. I've been losing quite steadily since my banding (see ticker below). It took awhile for my 1cc, first fill, kicked in. I went to the surgeon 10 days ago and really didn't want a fill. However, since I was there and drove 2 hours, we both agreed to a conservative .2cc fill. I can drink liquids fine. Eating is mostly painful after a few small bites. I overall don't feel satisfied, but need to stop after just a bit due to the "golfball effect." I slime quite often and have really learned to slow down and wait. This allows me to figure out if I have my stopping point or not. I've made an appt. to unfill my last .2cc, for this Tuesday. Do you think this is something I should get used to or get a slight unfill? I just need some opinions as this fill/unfill business is perplexing (time of day/time of month/type of foods). Thanks, Shawn
  20. My husband and I use Crest Whitestrips! They work very well. Put it this way...my husband had a cap on his front tooth (20 years old). He ended up replacing it recently. He had to because his capped tooth looked yellow compared to his others (cap tooth doesn't whiten).
  21. I agree with Leath g and Donali!
  22. Oh, Doc! I understand what you are going through. I was emotional when I was first banded. Even now, I sometimes get frustrated. Tell your hubby that it's true that eventually things will get back to normal. However, at this time you need (fill in the blank here)....This will be a big support early on. My husband felt he had to sneak food items. Of course, I could sniff him out like a dog!!!! I eventually told him (about 4 weeks post-banding) that it's ok if he ate snacks, etc. around me. Just don't rub it in and offer me any!! The first 6 weeks is a time for healing and transition. I do try to keep any "trigger" foods out of the house (to this day)...
  23. I live in CC. No bariatric physicians here as a previous poster discussed! My doctor is Dr. Chang, in Victoria. It may be a bit difficult to find fill doctors as they tend to only like to do fills on folks they've operated on! This message board is a good start. San Antonio, as poster suggested, is a good option as well. Shawn
  24. Absolutely! I am so happy that I've done this....Shawn
  25. Banded on 09/08/2005 at 253 pounds that day. Now 1/17/2006 (4 month 1 week) I am 209 pounds.... Total lost because of banding=44 pounds!!!
