  1. Congrats! Something that might help you with the anesthesia part is telling the anesthesiologist the truth about your fear. I did and it went a lot smoother, he was extra nice to me and told me everything he was going to do. C-ya on the losing team!
  2. I was given Heparin (blood thinner) prior to surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago in order to prevent blood clots. Shortly after surgery I began to spot and now it's been 2 1/2 weeks later and I am STILL on my period. Did anyone else have this problem and if so how long did it last?? Thanks!
  3. You will do fine. I know about the not sleeping the night before trust me!!
  4. Best of luck to you. I have 3 Labrador's that weigh over 220lbs together. I go into defensive mode when they are lose in the house and one comes near me. I love them to death, but I think I would cry and then have to be taken via ambulance to the hospital if one nailed me.
  5. I'm right there with ya!! I still have 4 1/2 weeks to go on a 6 weeks Liquid diet. I am starving most of the time and was told by my doctor's office that I am getting adequate nutrition and to take up a hobby. Best of luck to ya!
  6. Thanks everyone! I've had more protein today and got several PM's and emails from experienced bandsters
  7. I am a week post-op and healing slowly. My pain is mostly around my port area which I know is common. Today was my first day back in school (I'm a student). I sat through 2 classes and then had a 2 hour long lab. Thank God I didn't pass out when I had to stick others with needles! I am starting to really doubt the decision I have made. I miss food terribly. My doctor has me on a 6 week liquid post-op diet. He won't even let me have Jello. The most filling thing I can eat is my Protein shakes. I go in for my 2 week post-op appointment in about a week. According to the scales in lab I have already lost 15 pounds. Not only do I miss eating, but I really feel like crap. I am very tired and literally feel like someone beat me up. Not to be personal, but I have been suffering from the runs for the past 3-4 days, I was told by my teacher (an RN) that is normal when on a liquid diet. The blood thinner they gave me in the hospital has caused nosebleeds and my aweful monthly visitor to appear uninvited. Will I ever be happy again or have any energy? Thanks for listening my sorrows. -Carrie
  8. The strings made me crenge (sp). The thought of having them near my eyes would make me want to crawl out of my skin.
  9. I had Dr. Robert Powell. So far I have been very happy. I had my surgery done in Oak Cliff at Renissance (sp) Hospital. The hospital was very clean and newly remodeled. I was a little worried about having surgery in Oak Cliff, but was pleasantly surprised! Best of luck to ya!
  10. Glad to see ya here!! Welcome to the board!
  11. Are you pre or post op?? I am almost 4 days post-op and was told to drink until I was full.
  12. I'm 2 days out and have the same pain. Mine is under my left breast. Don't laugh, but one of my boobs (left one to be exact) is larger than my right. I think it's a combination of air and muscle soreness. Best of luck to ya!
  13. I don't own one
  14. I'm on the banded side now. Will write more later.
  15. I have to be at the hospital in 7 hours, please keep me in your prayers!! I am starting to get really nervous. Thanks, Carrie
  16. I really have no advice to offer. Just know that you are not alone.. We are here for ya!! (((((HUGS)))))
  17. Thanks for the advice. I am now 3 days away from surgery. On the suggestion of a friend I ordered IDS Protein. I got the chocolate and it is like chocolate milk..simply wonderful!! http://store.bariatriceating.com/ids.html
  18. I'm a control freak I guess.. relying on someone else to breath for me. Not being in full control of my body. I don't like drugs that alter my mind or conciousness.
  19. What the HELL am I about to do to myself???? Yeah, yet another one of us at "that stage". Surgery is on Tuesday. Made the mistake of going to the hospital today to pre-register and have the last of my lab tests done. I have a MASSIVE fear of anesthesia. Found out they won't let my hubby in the back with me when they take me into pre-op. Not real thrilled about that. When I left there I was ready to puke. Need wisdom here fast. Trying to be brave and not bail.
  20. Congrats!!! You are truely an inspiration to us newbies who are about to start our journey!! :D
  21. I'm sure you will do great.. Post when ya get back!!!
  22. I've been around for a week or so. I love this place!
  23. I thought you guys might enjoy seeing a few pictures of my baby. She is almost 10 months old now and her name is Meleah.
  24. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I had a very interesting and emotionally abusive childhood myself. I think about the only thing you can do is to realize that SHE is the one with the problem and your sister should know better as well. I know it is hard to have someone who is supposed to love you unconditionally treat you like that. And even though you are an adult it still hurts. Perhaps she has some deep psychological problem that has been left untreated? Either way please try to keep your head up high, you are doing the best you can do right now and working toward getting a tool that will change your life. You know in your heart what she did and is doing is wrong. All you can do is protect your daughter and try to bring her up as a strong person with a good self image. Please remember we are here for you. If you need to talk please PM me. ((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))
  25. Best of luck to ya.. I'm right behind you!
