I never would have eaten plain retried Beans before...but desperate times call for desperate measures hahaha
I had a huge can of vegetarian retried beans so I mixed in a packet and a half of old El Paso Taco seasoning and warned it with a little cheese. So delicious

I've tried things like mederma and they never made much of a difference to me. My mom has always sworn by popping open a Vitamin e capsule and using that.

Today my hubby told me "you are looking so much skinnier" and that's at 11 days post-op!!!!! I'm excited! I can't wait to reach goal, even when I hit stalls, I will have to remember where I started. My highest weight was 337 a few months ago. I wanted to crawl under a rock! I haven't weighed since Monday, but even then I was 304. That's 33 pounds! Woohoo!

I chose the sleeve because I don't want my insides rearranged and if I make Cookies at Christmas, I want to be able to at least taste them and make sure I'm not giving my loved ones gross treats. I want to be able to eat normally but with moderation, which is what the sleeve helps with. I am a volume eater. Even if it's healthy, I just eat too much

I had gerd/reflux and was told by a previous doctor that I didn't have a hiatal hernia, but what do you know, the surgeon found one and repaired it, no more gerd for me. I chose the sleeve even if there was a possibility that I'd still have it, I was thinking that life with tums or PPIs was better than being morbidly obese for the rest of my life.

I'm hoping you wake up with relief! It really is a strange sensation not having the acid feeling. I have pics of the hernia...pretty big hole, glad it's sewn back up

Stephanie I have had Gerd and knew there was a risk of it being worse with the sleeve, BUT after my hiatal hernia was fixed, I am having no issues with heartburn or reflux. Honestly, it feels so calm in my throat now lol. I normally would need antacids everyday and didn't start a PPI until a few days after surgery, which would have been awful had the hernia not been repaired.

auntiemel got a reaction from waitingtoexhale in Pre-op diet...... Destroyed!
Prior to sleeve surgery and my pre-op diet I had one too many food funerals! I was one of the people who woke up and was told that they couldn't do the surgery!
It took over a year to even think about trying again, and this time as a precaution, I did 3 weeks on my pre-op diet, and was in the doctors office each week for weigh ins.
I went to a different surgeon the second time, and the difference is night and day.
1st surgeon: 1 week pre-op diet with 2-3 Protein shakes and a lean cuisine for dinner
2nd surgeon: 3 weeks pre-op diet with whatever I wanted to eat as long as my total carbs were 40 or below everyday.
The lean cuisines I was eating before were pretty high in carbs. With the second one, I was able to pick and choose what I wanted and modify it.
I don't want to cause anyone alarm, but the docs really want us on these preop diets for a reason.

Congrats! I only had gas pains as well...but those are so painful. I wish they could suck the extra air out lol
I also had a hiatal hernia repaired and didn't have pain there until I felt the dreaded slimes and got nauseous and dry heaved. The pain was like being punched and the air being knocked out of me.
All in all I am not regretting my decision!
Keep me posted on how you are doing!

auntiemel got a reaction from mrsto in Rosie O’Donnell Makes Hurtful Comments About the Lap-Band on “The View”
Much of the research has been leaning towards the band as being subpar to the sleeve and/or bypass. I don't watch the view, but I know Rosie o'donnell has always been outspoken and brazen in her comments.
I think that we shouldn't take offense to her comments, just know that she may have the same information that many of us have seen on the band. I spoke with one surgeon who doesn't even perform band surgeries anymore.
I chose the sleeve for my own reasons and believe everyone is entitled to what they want done with their body. One surgeon told me
I should have bypass, but I knew that that wasn't right for me.
Good luck to anyone that chooses to pursue weight loss surgery as a means to better their health.

auntiemel got a reaction from #9grammy in Pre-op diet, help!
I lost ten pounds and then stalled the last five days or so. I was drinking so much Water and trying to hydrate for surgery, I think it counteracted the weight loss. You will do fine! As long as you've followed your Preop diet, there should be nothing to worry about.
