You need to try your best to stick to the phases. The reason for them is so your stomach can heal. By "straying", you are causing your stomach to work very hard to try and digest food it isn't ready for. It's just a few more weeks before you can have solids. Be honest about your cheating with your nutritionist. I am a picky eater.. during that phase I ate the same thing daily. Find what you do like and eat it. Have moist chicken or special k Cereal that is soaked and mushy with almond or soy milk. broth is still fine. sugar free Jello and pudding are allowed. Try some low fat or light yogurt without fruit in it. I know it's a challenge to stay on track, but you don't want to end up in the ER because you couldn't follow your eating plan.

Despite some serious anxiety the day before surgery I was sleeved on 4-8-14. The pain has been a little worse than I anticipated. I have to admit I have questioned why I did this a little. Then I remember this short term pain will be worth the long term affects. I have been walking but have still had a lot of gas built up in my chest. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting rid of it? I am completely amazed how I am on liquids and not feeling hungry!!! This is amazing. I think once the pain is gone its gonna be the best decision ever.

I am only 9 days put and I also felt exactly the same way around day 4 & 5. The past couple days have not been too bad though. I still cry at least once a day and sometimes wonder why but then I remember to take it one day at a time sometimes one hour at a time. I'm still not convinced I did the right thing but I'm trying to be positive & think positive. This site has helped me a lot.

We are twins! Lol. I had surgery same day and feeling exactly the same. Congrats! I'm struggling with gas but walking and deep breathing helps.

Just wanted to update this thread. I went through with the surgery on 4-8-14. So I am only one day post op. I have to admit the pain is more than I expected and there have been times I have questioned what was I thinking but I know the long term benefits will far out weigh the temporary pain. Thank each of you for encouraging me to go through with it and reminding me that I am worth it. God bless you all.

I had my sleeve on 4-8-14 so today I am 2 days post op. I am handling the liquid diet better than I though I would but the large incision pain where they pulled the stomach out and the gas pain is awful!!! I'm walking around as much as possible. I'm on a blood thinner to prevent blood clots due to my high BMI and history of smoking. So I'm trying to walk as much as possible to prevent any clots from forming. I'm having a little trouble taking in all my liquids. I feel full and just not at all interested in them. I'm trying though good luck all my fellow April Sleevers!!! Surgery Weight : 374lbs Goal Weight:190

I would recommend the Premier Protein shakes from costco. They come in vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. You get a case of approximately 18 for $25, each one contains 30 grams of protein... make sure to drink them cold. The chocolate taste like chocolate milk to me!!!

Okay I'm less than 2 weeks away from my gastric sleeve surgery. My current weight is 374lbs. My goal is 190lbs. Please give me all your tips on how to lose the max amount of weight. The do list and the don't list. Anything that might be helpful. Also if any of you have lost 150 plus pounds I would love to hear your story. I often see people who had a lot less to lose than I do so I would love to see people who had great success that started out my size. Thank y'all!!!

So excited I got my approval for the sleeve after about 2 weeks of waiting. My surgery date is April 8th. I was wondering if anyone else has been approved by them recently and how much over all out of pocket expense you had?

I'm truthfully amazed, thankful to my surgeon and humbled by this experience. Back in April of 2013 I started at 412lbs. Had surgery June 24th. Now here we r almost 200 lbs lighter in 9 months. 52 inch waist to 33. 4xl t shirt to large. Just amazing. I used to love riding motorcycles so I went out and bought a new one for when the weather gets better. I go to the gym 6 days per week and I just always remember my surgeons words. "I've given u the tool. Now take advantage of it!!" I won't forget that advise from Dr Jiser in Chelmsford MA. Thank u

Thank y'all so much for responding to my post and for all your uplifting words. It means a great deal to me that all of you would take time to reach out to me. I have decided to go through with the surgery. I still have my psych eval. to get done then I will be ready to submit my official approval papers. I keep trying to remember that this in an investment in my life and that I need this surgery to live life to its fullest. I'm gonna try very hard to put all the other feelings out of my mind. Once again thank y'all and much love from this Louisiana girl.

KathieMae52, I live in Caldwell Parish just about 30 miles from you. I'm wanting to have the sleeve done in West Monroe and plan to use Dr. Zizzi. I am currently gathering info for my insurance company so they will cover my cost. Which surgeon have you chose?

I agree totally with you. There was no way I wanted to be re plumbed. The gastric sleeve for me was the perfect solution for my weight loss goals and I have lost 130 pounds since I started and almost 90 pounds since surgery. There is no reason why you can't lose 100 pounds or more with the sleeve. Good luck on your decision.
