  1. Good times, good times.:heh:
  2. Yup, it was the IV. It will go away. Yes, I too do the slither to get outta bed!
  3. surgery is not an easy way out. Your family sounds like it has its won agenda and your health and well being is not at the top of their list of concerns. You could have complications, yes but what about the complications of being obese?
  4. Well, my first thought is that you are losing about a pound a week and that is a healthy amount to lose. Otherwise, are you holding yourself accountable for everything you are eating and drinking? Food logs and journals are helpful for keeping tabs on problems. Also, sometimes I dont lose weight if I am getting too few calories.
  5. Hey, at least I am getting a lot of Soduka puzzles done (in an effort to look on the bright side) LOL
  6. I am confused.
  7. Yeah, I could see that being a problem, too! Have you tried the benefiber chewable tablets?
  8. It sucks but it will be worth it. Take a deep breath and keep yoour eye on the prize and focus. It will get better.
  9. What, specifically, are you worried about?
  10. Tomorrow is the BIG day!!
  11. Somedays I just lurk, it depends on how busy the kids keep me!
  12. I use sparkpeople but I have used fitday. I have to hold myself accountable for EVERYTHING. Plus, I like that I can blog and journal what I am thinking and feeling.
  13. I wass miserable during pre-op diet. Seriously. My leather furniture was starting to look tasty before it ended.
  14. I buy whey protein that is 110 calories and use dried milk powder, nin fat, and that is 90 calories. My doc recommended trying fat free pudding powder or sugar free jello powder to vary the flavor. I add flax oil and liquid vitamins to my protien shake. I keep it at or less than 200 calores and I view it ass a vehicle for missing nutrients than as a treat. My doc does, however, recomend 1 protein shake a day as long as I stay within calorie guidelines. Regular food is recommended over a protein shake, if possible.
  15. I am 4 days past surgury and today has been a great day, for the most part. I am feeling just a little tired but that is to be expected. I could really REALLY do without the explosive diareha. How long does this last? Between that and the gas I am still working out I am too scared to leave my bedroom. Please tell me this ends!!!
  16. My doc has a low calorie high protien drink as part of the diet but he also has calorie guidelines he wants us to stay in. We are to stay away from empty calories. A protien shake, IMO, is not empyu calories. I add my flax oil to them and a liquid vitamin on top of that.
  17. I am on liquids for a few more days ( I was banded on wednesday) and then thicker liquids for a week before onto mushys. I have to drink two quarts of water a day and a protien shake so I am sipping water constantly. I feel pretty good, though. A little tired. We went walking around the mall today and a quick trip to the grocery store wiped me out but it gets rid of the gass pains, for sure.
  18. I find that if I eat a few more calories I have more success at losing weight. Too few calories and too many calories have a negative impact. If I am low on protien for the day or am not hungry but only ate 500 calories that day, I will have a low cal protien shake to make sure I eat enough to keep me going. It is not a habit of drinking calories, it is all a part of tracking how many calories I eat. Iwill always chose food, first, over a shake.
  19. I plan on using them when I need to boost calories or as a 'hold me over' snack until meal time. I look at them as a vehicle for protien and other nutrients. I also make sure they are as low calorie as possible and they are added into my tracking of daily calorie lists.
  20. You are an inspiration! Thanks for posting something so positive and inspiring as it makes me so excited for this year!
  21. I was banded by Dr. Hollis two days ago!! I really like him. The moment he told me I would never have to diet again it felt like a huge weight was lifted. I knew at that moment I could achieve this and I knew I picked teh right doc. I dont know if he has support groups but I know there is a messege board on the trueresults webpage. Let me know if you kind out there is one!
  22. Oh, I know what you mean. We eat really healthy foods at myhouse and I cook from scratch and rarely buy boxed convience food. We eat ground turkey instead of beef, etc, etc. My problem is portion control. I have no problem eating healthy. Might explain why I have a bmi of 40 yet a really low cholseterol level and a great BP. Weird.
  23. I think I am more scared of dying from complications from obesity than I was of the surgery itself. The lifestyle change is a positive force in my life that will extend my life and improve my relationships with other people. My point is, keep your chin up, always look for something positive. It is very very exciting. Oh, and, congrats on getting approved!!
  24. Dh brought me to walgreens and target. I had to do a refill on my perscription so we just meandered about slowly. Iam tired now but feel pretty good as the walking helped with the gas.
