  1. My doc told me to let him know if I was traveling to remote areas, he will remove the liquid before and put it back afterwards.
  2. I had McD's on mym way to the appointment with a big coke. I had three shirts on, jeans, a heavy leather belt, socks, tennis shoes. I had my husbands diving weights in my pockets (they are about the size of a deck of cards). I even wore my husbands heavy metal watch. I ate like mad the two weeks before my appointment since I already knew I had to 'weight heavy'. The person I talked to at the doc office suggested I 'weight heavy'. I also told them I was an inch shorter than what I was and they never checked. I was able to leave my shoes on when I weighted.
  3. This is absolutely true. I think that because I, and maybe lots of y'all, have experienced so many failed diets we set ourselves up for disappointment. I have to keep reminding myself that this is different.
  4. Thank you, i really needed to hear that! White knuckling it really does sum it up nicely.
  5. I know what you are talking about! I live in League City outside Houston. Humidity is outrageous.
  6. with the first fill but I really wish I was one of those people that felt *something*. I am losing because of I am dieting, not because of restriction. I am worried that because I am losing weight they wont believe that I do not feel restriction. I can only go so long eating 800-1200 calories a day feeling hungry. I had my first fill on Wednesday and today was my first day of had food. I stop eating when I no longer feel hungry but before I am full. I was told my second fill would be 2-4 weeks after the first. I tis going to bea LONG 2 weeks.
  7. I live in League City and am new to the area. I need a GYN doc who isn't an a$$hat. Thanks!
  8. OK, I bought some pantene hair mask and that helped smooth it out a lot!
  9. I need to pick up some spray in conditioner. I track my Protein carefully and most of my protein comes from actual food rather than supplements. I heard that just adding a small amount of avocados or nuts to your diet helps as well.
  10. I am not sure how restricted I am but I fill up fast. I am on mushies today an had an egg this morning. I had about 3-4 oz of shredded chicken for lunch and I am done. I try to stop right when I no longer feel hungry but before I feel full. I ended up stalling how fast I eat by taking a small bite then doing something else, like load the dishwasher. i feel as though I have a lump in the back of my throat that I keep trying to swallow. Its weird. i hope I am doing this right.
  11. I was never without a bottle of water in my hand. I sipped constantly.
  12. UHC just wanted me to show 5 years of failed diets, not 5 years of being morbidly obese. I go to the OB once a year so I had majority fluctuating weights to show.
  13. I am getting enough protien, taking flax oil and multi-vitamin. I only rarely use a blow dryer and, usually, my Pureology conditioner is so intense that my hair is usually TOO healthy. Now, it is dry and breaking. It sticks up. WTH? Any ideas how long this lasts?
  14. I have UHC and I had to gain a *couple* of pounds to put me over the edge of 40 BMI. It was worth it. I had my approval in 3 weeks.
  15. It was pretty quick and they had me drink barium and did an xray to see the restriction. They said it looks great. I have 2.7cc in my 10 cc band. I have to do liquids for two days than one day of mushies. I get to go back in 2-4 weeks for fill #2. So far, so good.
  16. I get it. I am just hoping, I guess!
  17. have any of you seen this? I think it is called BC powder. Is this something that is offlimits, too? I was thinking it might be safer if it were powdered. Easy to absorb. I plan to ask my doc but thought I would run it by here, too.
  18. I waas not told anything. I got on the treadmill for walking two weeks post op.
  19. HEB but I think that line of grocery stores are mostly in texas. We were already buying healthy and mostly organic food so we were already used to the cost of it. I did some label reading and found that 97/3 ground beef had the same calories/fat/protien as ground turkey (although I am so used to ground turkey now that I am not likely to chcange back to ground beef). Not buying diet coke makes a big difference. What used to make up a plate of food now is enough for 3 meals.
  20. For suppliments I am taking an off-brand of chewable vitamin and that is about it. I took vitamins anyway so paying for it now is nothing new. I get my protien powder from the local grocery store where you can buy in bulk from bins - I think it is just over $6 a pound. (32 g of protien per 1/3 cup - H.E.B grovery)
  21. At this rate, I will be able to pay off the portion that I owe after insurance fairly quickly. What is sad is that I did not realize the VOLUME of food I was eating until now. I am a little embarassed.
  22. I cannot WAIT to eat sushi again. I love sushi!!
  23. check with your insurence company and see a doc who does the lapband for current info. Yes, your insurance might draw things out for you but some do not. You dont need permission from your doc to get the lapband.
  24. I am learning and I am shocked by how little I need to eat to fuel my body an still have enough energy. I have to remind myself to stop when I am physically not hungry anymore. I am learning to just taste things I want to taste instead of eating lots of it. I am stunned by how few of groceries I need to buy these days. I am going to save so much money in groceries, seriously.
  25. LOL (minor thread hijack) I have an aunt that has no less than 20 broken cars on her property that are packed full of *things*. her nieghbors are not happy. I prefer native plants, myself. Less work for me.
