  1. I plan on telling people I made a lifestyle change. If they press further or seem soncerned about how much I am or am not eating I plan to tell them I am beingmedically surpervised on the diet and have the support of a doc and a nutritionist. Then I dont plan to say andything else! Let them wonder.
  2. wow, omly four more days to go and they will be busy days. My husband is leaving for work sometime tomorrow or the next day and my mom is flying in on tuesday to help me with the kiddos for the week. As miserable as the preop diet is I have become numb to the misery of it. I do wish I could just close my eyes and wake up wednesday morning!
  3. I think it almost gets to the point where there is only one direction to go and that is forward. Forward to something better. That is what I keep tellingn myself, anyway!
  4. after the band was put on. Did you stay in bed and chill out? I have the option to seclude myself in my room while my mom takes care of the kiddos but I was wondering how bad I will feel. Well, since everyone is different, I want to know how YOU felt. LOL
  5. Michelle!! Inspiring post! Thank you!
  6. Welcome, glad you are here!
  7. for this year. I am thrilled that the journey to a healthy me is about to begin. I spent YEARS dealing with this weight drama and sadly, i wasted so many years thinking I was fat when I was not. Hindsight is always 20/20 - if I knew then what I knew now I would have made some better choices. Being that as it may, I feel like I havea fresh start. My kids are getting older with the younges going on 2 this spring and my oldest going to pre-k this coming fall. All you moms out there understand how much you sacrifice for the sake of the family yet we dont pump as much effort into ourselves and our wellbeing. I feel as this is my time to focus on me. Before the kiddos came I was very hard on myself. Being older and having kids gave me an opportunity to appreciate what my body is capable of and I now approach my well being with kindness, forgiveness and purpose. This is going to be a year of positive change for all of us who are getting banded in January and I wish the very best to all of you sharing this journey.
  8. That is awesome, every pound lost means more time we have to live a healthy life. Good for you!!
  9. yea, the pre op diet is no picnic. No pun intended! LOL
  10. Seriously, if you are worried about it, get yourself some of the industrial strenght colon cleaner about 2 days before the surgury. You will drop 5 pounds overnight, easy. I know, nice post, huh? Oh well! Very best of luck to you! I just noticed it is after 5pm - I am almost over half way through the pre-op diet!:whoo:
  11. my pre-op is 2 protien shakes, 1 or two means a day of 4 oz lean meat and all the green veggies I want. Good times...good times..
  12. I ended going to bed a couple of hours early lasst night beauses I was so hungry and now this day is just DRAGGING by. 7 more days 7 more days 7 more days.....
  13. Ok, I dont like taking pictures of myself but here goes...these are from within the last year
  14. Hello, I am half way through my preop diet and it is tough, but doable. I keep telling myself I am half way there. I have enough energy I am just hungry so I am really looking forward to the band taking away the hunger part. I guess that is the point, though! Hang in there. It is only a couple of weeks!
  15. Hello, well, I have no comorbidities. Iam one of those healthy obese people, for some reason. I am about 5'11 and am starting at 284 with a goal of 180 or so. I am not too worried as long as I am under 200 but 180 would be nice!
  16. I have to do a low calorie high protien low carb diet. Two shakes a day, unlimited non calorie beverages, 1 or 2 meals a day that include lean protien and as much green veggies as I want. No sugar at all. I actually went to bed last night early because I was hungry but I did not know if I am hungry because I usually eat after the kiddos go to bed or if I was actually hungry. I woke up today not starving so I suspect it was head hunger. What does your dietician say? (picking your brain, here!)
  17. HI! How is your pre-op diet going?
  18. I hear you, today has been pretty tough for me as well. ikeep telling myself that I only have 10 more days to go. I REALLY just want this to be over with! Hey, you only have 8 more days!
  19. I have had a couple of people tell me wls is the 'easy' way out. There is nothing easy about making a life long change that the band brings to our lives. It is a life long commitment and I dont think most look at it as a 'magic pill' but rather a tool to live a more healthy and satisfying life.
  20. I am pretty excited, obviously!! January 2nd is my date and Iam really looking forward to being a 'loser' this coming year. For once my 'skinny' clothes will be at the front of my closet and I will be hauling the clothes I am wearing now down to goodwill the INSTANT they are too big for me. I am going to shop at the regular stores and might even have a chance to score clothes on the clearance racks *gasp*. My size is NEVER on clearnance. Eye on the prize...eye on the prize..
  21. I have fitday but I have been at sparkpeople.com - I really like it there
  22. Hmmm, I have one friend who is remarkable unsupportive. I honestly wish I had never told her about it in the first place. I did not tell too many people, my mom, grandma, husband, and 4 very close friends. With the exception of this one riend everyone has been super about it. I think the unsuportive friend has her own issues and me being 100 pounds overwieght makes it easier for her to feel good about the 50 or so pounds she claims she needs to lose. I dont accept negativity and I look at it as her problem rather than mine. It sucks that I dont want to talk to her too much about it because it iss an exciting journey that Iwant to share with those I am close to. I have not told anyone else in my family because I know they would not understand and I dont feel like explaining and reexpailning and justifying etc over and over again.
  23. wow, I am getting banded in 10 days and I am HOPING I can lose 60 pounds in 9 months! I am thrilled for you!!
