  1. I also had a High BMI. I am losing slow. But that is by choice. I dont deal well with being too restricted on my choices. So my Dr is happy and I am happy I am losing...just slowly. I only had to do the 2 week Pre op diet...it was tough but I just kept looking forward...it is not forever. Once I was banded I had lots of things to choose from. I just could not eat much of anything. But I still could taste everything. lol
  2. I am so sorry. Even with the problems I have had I would do it all over again. To me it was worth it. BUT that is something your going to have to decide for yourself. I am a slow loser. But when I start thinking about how little I have lost I add on the 30lbs I would have gained each year. THAT IS 60 LBS extra I have lost...by not gaining. I hope things work out for you.
  3. wow....I did get the You have a face now.... What the hell did I have before? geesh.
  4. I also got an unfill. But that was because I was getting stuck on water a lot. But now I am too loose lol Tax season and all I will be waiting till after April before getting it adjusted again.
  5. Being sensitive myself I am also big on charts. I am not the best about logiong what I eat BUT I do log a 1-10 scale on HOW I am eatting 1 meaning I am stuck on Water...10 meaning I can eat a huge meal. My Dr is impressed with me being able to keep track that way. then he can see how many bad days I have...what time of the month it is falling on...I also log PB's so we can chart when I am stuck and when I PB. Charts are great way to keep track of more then just food.
  6. I had a huge problem this summer. I had Poison oak...the steroids and other medication I was given to get rid of that reacted weird to my body...My band was either super loose or super tight. from one day to the next. I kept hopping my body would regulate itself. But it didnt. I finaly went back to my Dr to get an adjustment. and He took some Fluid out and told me to give my body time to adjust. Then we will add a bit back. So...your not the only one who is sensitive. lol But I still love my band. I lose slow...and that is ok with me...because I am still losing.
  7. You get excited when you can take a big drink of cold water...and not have to sip
  8. I have been banded for 2 years...I was skipping my way on up to the 400lb mark...I am a slow loser...but that is ok with me...I count the 30lbs that I would have gained each year when I think about how much I have lost. I just got back from seeing my most excelent Dr. He took some fluid out...a first for me...I should have had it done months ago...but I am stuborn and thought the problem would correct itself...it didnt...but I am lucky I didnt have any slippage issues. Very lucky. I would do it all over again in a heart beat! The band is the best thing for me! lets me eat food with out letting me over eat. It is my little reminder to not pig out. Well that and all the new clothes I am fitting into... OH!!!!! AND I FELT A RIB!!!! Yes this is a first. I am feeling bones. lol
  9. I am in the habit of messing up my food in resturants so it looks like I have really been digging in lol Just so they stop asking me if everything is ok. lol It is the family food pushers that get me...My Grandma actualy told One of my cousins that I must think her food is gross because I wouldnt eat her deviled eggs. Thankfuly that cousin knew about the band...and well I got really good about carrying food for all my cousins kids. lol They loved me for sneaking them extra's lol:lol:
  10. When you worry more about hiding how LITTLE you eat then how much your eating infront of the food pushers in your family
  11. Good luck! My doctor never put a restriction on how much I could eat...The band did that for me. And I would get fills when I was telling him how much I could eat. My dr just restricted me on Snacking and Liquid food. All Doctors are different. But for me that is good there is no way I would survive if my Dr told me I could NOT EVER have something...mine tells me if you want cake have some...just dont over do it...this is a life long eating change...no one would want to give up something they love forever...I just dont eat in the quantity that I used to.
  12. I am so happy with my band...even though it is kinida tight right now...stress makes mine tighter. but I am doing good...I am smaller then I was in 1999 lol
  13. ok let me just say I LOVE the Elipitical. But I had to work up to it. My first time on it I managed a Whole whoppin 2 minutes before I thought my legs would give up. I felt so bad (mentaly) about not being able to do more then that. But the next day I got back on and did 4 minutes...then 6 then 10 then 15 then 20 then 30 every time I pushed myself a bit harder to get the hang of it. I am not up to an hour on it. and I feel exilirated when I get off. To see the little things get on and only able to complete 10 minutes and check out my time as they walk by feels great. Now I am going to try some sprints on the elipitical along with my normal pace. To bump my metabolism up. I say give it another shot. I find it to be easier on my joints then the treadmill and I also go faster and further then I ever did on the treadmill.
  14. I totally have to agree with everyone else your Dr is a nut job. I love my Dr. He is all about how you feel. My weight loss might be slow. But most of the time I feel great and not deprived at all. He is all about eatting like a normal person...With smaller portions. NOT miniture portions. Just smaller. So I can lose the weight with out feeling like I am on a restricted diet. He actualy told me to taste all the candy that comes by...Not to scarff it down like I used to but have a taste. and figure out what I REALLY like...instead of eatting just to eat like I used to do. I love him he is the best! and believe it or not I lost 15 pounds during Thanksgiving vacation. lol Everyone walking arround moving and playing...and not eatting as much I felt great!
  15. I have to agree here...If you have less then 100 to lose and have tried and tried then...maybe. But having surgery for 50 pounds seems kinda massive. But just be aware the band is not an instant thing. You still have to work really hard. It is just a internal tool to help you out.
  16. Good News. And Thank you for all your help. I am back to eatting normal food. I couldnt find liquid advil but I guess 6 weeks was the time limit for my body to be out of wack. lol After steroids I totaly detoxed my body of all medications. No pills at all. Whew that was difficult But I managed it. and now my body is where it was before the steroids...I am eatting more then bander portion...but I am ok. Thank you all for the helpful tips.
  17. I wonder if I take some liquid advil now if it would reduce the internal swelling...I have liquid tylenol and cold medicine...and my liquid vitimin. But arround here it is hard to find liquid meds. Where did you find the liquid Advil?
  18. I wish my body would. It tool 3 shots in the but and 4 seperate pill dosages to get rid of it. And even after all that I still had bumps that itched...they were just not spreading any more. I did the Hot Tea with...yes With lunch today and managed to eat normal. I also talked to my Dr before I went to lunch and he said he did not want to give me an UNfill because of my lack of restriction before getting sick. BUT if I could not find a way to consume calories then he would do a slight unfill. But to give myself a week with the hot liquids to see if that helped. and to try taking alergy pills WITH hot tea to see if that gets them down. So I am going to try taking pills later with hot tea. He did say that this should be temporary and my body should equal out soon...and if it dosent we will make a plan of action for it. Thanks for the advise I do really apreciate your words...even when I dont want to listen to them lol
  19. ok thanks for your advise. I am just hesitant because it was not a fill that got me to this point. I was actualy too loose before I got sick. That is the reason I am hesitant. This has only been for the last month...I havent had a fill in 6 months. I will call him and talk to him
  20. ok FYI I have to drink hot liquid and eat withing 20 minutes or I cant handle the food. Grrr this is super frustrating. I am stuck right now on 2 salteen crackers I have been burping them up for the past 45 minutes. I have never had a problem with crackers before...help anyone.
  21. At home I use my sink too. It is tall enough that I dont have to bend over...and for me that is important. Mostly for me it is just slime. So not a huge deal...and noone is arround to whitness it at my house lol One plus to living alone. Yeah I am visiting family that has not seen me since I got the band...and my nieces...So I am not sure how I will handle it.
  22. It might be the type of solids your eatting. After my last fill I could no longer eat Chicken of any kind. And I havent been able to eat pork for a long time. I can however eat hamburger and ground meat and bacon. I get full a lot quicker then I have before. So I have to really be careful to not over eat and pb.
  23. I am always worried someone will notice and comment on it. It just embarases me to no end. Mine are not too bad...I cant do it into a bottle...I can into a cup...that is why I keep cups in the car with lids so I can take them to the trash with out anyone noticing it. lol But I am getting ready to stay with my parents for 2 weeks...and I am nervious about them noticing. ugg
  24. Yeah Good luck to all. Have fun with that zumba classes
  25. Thanks Everyone. I am trying the hot liquids today. Had Tea This morning And it did go down. I am going to stick to Soup today. Just because I dont want to risk anything I will keep up with the hot tea for a while to see if that helps. I will have to look for the benadryl in strip form. I didnt know they made it that way. I have cold medicine...just no alergy medicine. The alergys started about a week after I got off the steroids...but I was taking anti-itch pills for a bit after the steroids to help with getting rid of the poison oak. I had a REALLY bad case of it...and it was just not going away. Thanks all.
