Got my surgery date and.....help?
When you fast, it takes around two full days before you feel the 'runners high' and can do it easily. Unfortunately, you will not have that much time to feel this. I say go to bed early for those two days and read...no TV. Just a minor sacrifice for a great event!

Day 5
Congrats and hang in there!

Is my Trainer kidding me!
Just make sure that they are taking you at a moderate pace. Some trainers get in their heads about training and don't think about where you are at the time. Good Luck!

Blood pressure question
I'm interested in finding this out too when I have my surgery. In the past when I lost 80 lbs., I was taking two meds and reduced to one after losing about 60 lbs. That was good but not great because I want to be off of them completely and I'm hoping that when I reach 100lbs of weight loss I will not need them any longer.

Ok guys....I need help
I think wanting to eat every 4-5 hours is ok, isn't it? I don't think you are overly hungry if it's that few and far between.

I feel like a liar
I think there is such a stigma associated with this surgery that it makes us feel like we cheated ourselves. Then when we finally tell people what we are going to do or have done, we go into this whole dialogue about why we did the surgery and so on, and that gets to be overdone and old. I am in the same boat as you. I have only shared it with about 3 coworkers and my husband and kids and my girlfriend but no one else. I would love to share it with everyone but I wouldn't love explaining all of my ill with them about why I chose the surgery. I mean, why do we feel the need to tell why? Do exercise enthusiast, runners, Olympians have to tell why? Geesh, it's a madness isn't it?

2 months out and fighting head hunger!
I think it's the fact that you haven't begun exercising yet. You may see greater results with exercise otherwise it will be slower.

My husband diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. :'(
I can't imagine losing my husband because he is the best and my rock! God says the prayers of the righteous shall prevail, so pray for divine intervention and wisdom and peace and even recovery. I believe that the doctors know what they are saying, but Who's report shall we believe in times like these. Pray that God opens your eyes to another answer or remedy for him, do all that you can do and never give up hope. I will pray for you and your husband as you are going through this trying time.

Great Find!
Most frozen foods are processed, so how much sodium was in it?

Marijuana
You young people are killing me with this. I'm actually dying over here with laughter! Who says 'colored' in this day and age? I had to check to see where you are from because you must be living in some back woods area of NY with that language. From NY...Wow! Anything except colored or the n-word...PLEASE! I can't even respond to the message because of what you said. I'm completely stumped.

Another study on "food addiction"
Thank you for this article. There is more report on the food industry and how processing has created a population of obesity as well. This is a much greater issue than overeating.

9 Weeks Out -- All the Little Things...
Congratulations on your success! I think I'm gonna use the 'I ate a late lunch/dinner' thing when I have my surgery. Great tip.

Starting to panic

Question about infection
I thought I read on this forum that if an infection did occur that was not treatable with antibiotics that some have gone back in to have the RNY which fixes the problem.

Enlarged Spleen!
Why would your spleen be enlarged anyway? I would be concerned about that as well. I hope everything goes well during your surgery.

hiccups
I always think that sometimes our body has it's own way of healing itself faster or letting you know that everything is all good. When I had my gallbladder removed several years ago, I would start coughing and hiccuping. Never had this happened before. There was nothing to be done but let it happen. When I came home still quite hunched over from the incision (they tried to go lap but couldn't) and what did I do? I missed the last two steps of the stairs! Ouch! I chalked it up to life's way of kicking you in the butt and saying, 'heal already' Time's a wasting... Congrats on you surgery!!!

I am so hungry!
Is it liquids all day everyday for 10 days? I would be making some crystal light flavored ice and crush it up.

Acne
It's horrible. I have not had the surgery but been on HCG where you lose weight rapidly. It doesn't give your body time to determine how to disperse the bad toxins in your body and you get acne in sometimes the worse areas. I experienced it on my right upper arm for some reason. Now, because I am black, I have hyperpigmentation in that area that I am trying to let time heal. That was two year ago. Make sure that you do not scratch and it will go away within a month or two. Wish I would have known.

I never thought I'd say this, but..
Objectification is what I believe I struggle with. I have gained weight to prevent this from happening and it's not healthy. I do plan to utilize my psychologist to help me with this. Some women love the attention no matter how it comes to them. I am a southerner that loves to be treated like a lady and not a piece of meat. Tell me that I look lovely today, or that what I am wearing is beautiful and I will respond in a polite manner. However, whistle, hound, stare at my assets, etc., you may get something otherworldly. I need to know how to deal with it mentally instead of reverting to food for cover or big baggy clothes.

How did you document your journey?
I utilize the forums for documentation. Not sure if I want my friends, family, neighbors, etc., to know what I am doing, but it's helpful to share wins and losses on these sites.

Struggling so much emotionally
So, here we go... In my hayday, I used to be this 'bad mama jamma' and all the boys would come to the yard. No pun intended, but I was hot. I found that men were visual and what I represented was their example of perfection. Not saying I was perfect, but close enough to be hounded, often. Sometimes this brought the good and often the bad boys to the yard. I began to not like the attention. I finally married a man that loved me regardless...I mean ME. This was after putting on weight, so a bit thicker me and have stuck with me through thick and thin and thick again as I have stuck with him through his imperfections. It sounds like you are going through that phase where the boys are coming to the yard! Good, and you are now evaluating you a bit more and realizing what you want from a life partner, however; caution must be advised because now since you have the pick of the bunch you are looking for perfection which isn't a reality. I would weed out the truly bad and the others, well, give it more time because no one is perfect visually or spiritually. Don't swat someone away that has the potential to be the best thing ever. Good luck!
