  1. Maybe 2/month only. When you have them, make them count!
  2. Look, don't judge, but I ate a whole Plantain (Very Ripe) banana the other day because I hadn't eaten and I was craving that banana. It was sooo good! But that was a wrap for the rest of the evening. I didn't get my Protein for that day either for the sake of that banana - and a big one at that! The next day I recovered with eating more protein. I agree however, it does have a lot of carbs in it, but oh well. Variety is the splendor of life! Cheers~
  3. My doctor and nurse said to eat what you can during the first 3 weeks because it's mostly slider foods. The work comes after you move to soft-solids. Enjoy!
  4. Big or not lady, your toes looked good! Congrats!
  5. Read a good book...
  6. I will be two month on Monday and have been in the weird place/stall where I will pick up 1 or 2 pounds and then lose it and back again. I think it's me trying new stuff and that's stalling me. I do know that I got hooked on beef Jerky sticks and salty/nitrate stuff and that happens to make us retain Water. So............................... I still enjoy one Protein shake when I'm low on protein and that is Jay Robb's chocolate whey Protein. I use it with Soy Milk, and cocoa powder and some stevia and add ice. Blend it in my NutriBullet and in heaven! ALSO, make sure that you are not eating salty foods or too many processed foods. I think the answer to all of our problems is we must eat clean. Meaning, we have to wake up and scramble eggs or make oatmeal, we must pack our home cooked meals during the day with protein first and we must commit to cooking our way to slim. The quick fixes add water weight and produces a stall. Wishing you luck and for myself!
  7. good job! Now I want to know how you did it? Exercise routine and calories eaten.
  8. Hell yea it matters which way!!! Even though I love losing my inches, the pounds must come off as well. Society/doctors still judge us by the scale and not our inches. Think about it, the first place the assisting nurse will take you is to get your weight and height. So when I got this surgery it was to bring that bmi down and the only thing that does that is weight. When I bring my bmi down, maybe no more meds and then everyone is happy. Just saying...
  9. I accidently drank from a straw out to dinner once, completely forgot that I shouldn't and nothing happened. I was drinking water fast and really enjoyed it. I haven't returned to drinking from a straw but I would love to.
  10. I read that water goes through fast because it's liquid and no you won't stretch your tummy out by gulping and yes your sleeve is working and still small. Experts say that your sleeve will stretch a bit but only after 8 months to a year which is normal.
  11. I am so sad that you are feeling defeated by your old habits. You are not alone. We have this great tool, but not one for our old habits. While at a conference I almost gave into my demon as well, because we are smart human beings that adapt quickly to how to cheat while eating less and that is called grazing. It took me a concerted effort to get back to eating Protein first, which fills you up fast AND going to bed early or staying away from the kitchen. I am sure that I will run into many more of these incidences throughout my journey and have to revert back to logic too. Consider the notion of getting rid of your unhealthy Snacks and crackers/bread, eating 3 square meals with two snack and make it protein first. Then, start back walking. I don't know if this is what is happening, but you must ask yourself where you fell off and then correct it. You went through too much to let Mr Old Habit rear his ugly head! Wishing you much success!!!
  12. I'm one of the lucky ones that can drink water pretty fast. However, I have been going to the gym and after the treadmill I go to the fountain thirsty. I have had to stop myself midstream because I realize that I'm gulping water like I used to. I'm also not a throw-upper, never have been. I think I have a gut of steel or something because the gag reflex is hard for me and throwing up is even harder. I hear that most people will eat fast or get food stuck and throw up, but with me...I get sick as a dog because my body just won't throw up even when I put my finger down my throat. All of that to say, that everyone is different. Check how you feel with taking bigger sips and a few gulps. Know your limits. Good luck!
  13. Wow! I don't know what to say except prayers coming your way. With everything you are going through it is no wonder why you are off track. Peace and blessings to you and your husband.
  14. I'm a little ways out from you, but every convenience store carries beef jerky and water. That'll be mine.
  15. Agreed, I am 6" and bigger boned. I chose a size 12. I think I would look sickly if I wore anything smaller. I would like to go as small as I can without looking like I have a problem however.
  16. Nothing but a couple protein shakes pre mixed preferably and broths.
  17. I am peri menopausal and there are days when I just need more food and other days when I don't. I have been problematic free since coming home from surgery. My scale is not moving a lot these days and I don't know if it is the stall or my peri. My body operates best when I'm eating 800-900 per day. I have more energy and feel more alive. I say, work with your doctor and nutritionist because everyone is different in how much they can consume. Good luck to you and I hope you get your energy back soon!
  18. It is quite confusing to not count calories when the sites like fitness pal and spark people calculate your calories then your doc says not to count. Then on top of that people on this site talk about how many calories they consume in each stage. Whew! I must say that I have done the same thing by eating too many calories while consuming Protein first and no bread. What it sounds like to me is that you are eating over a longer period of time. It is called grazing which is a habit as well. It is easy to eat more calories that way, so get back to plan and eat Breakfast, lunch, and dinner in 30 minutes. Snack only 2-3 times per day with protein and drink your Water. Make a commitment with yourself that whatever meal you eat, you will sit down and eat for 30 minutes only. Good luck!
  19. They are soooo NASTY!!!
  20. Do which part? Lose weight or maintain it? Yes, before I got the surgery my mind was asking the same thing, however; I fought it by saying that I can and have lost weight on my own (87lbs of it) but the maintaining part fades me. The lack of self control is hard for me. I determined that something needs to give and that something was me giving in to something that will prevent me from overeating, eating too fast and only inhaling my food, and something that will prevent me to yo-yo like I was doing. I gave into my life saving tool. My new lover - 'Baby Tummy'
  21. Stick with the doctor's plan. Most doctors don't like telling you how many calories to consume per day because they want you to focus on Protein, however, I have noticed that when I consume a bit more, around 800-900 calories per day, I will lose weight. I'm almost 6 weeks out. Today, I had two string cheese sticks for breakfast, a whopping 15oz can of Progresso Beef Barley Soup for lunch. I will probably eat another string cheese for a snack and have broccoli and beef or a Protein shake for dinner, then an Atkins bar for a snack. I also, dibble and dabble in low calorie/no sugar/chips (Blue Chips) sometimes too. It's really all about your protein at this stage. Good luck and don't fret about it.
  22. If you can, take a magnesium supplement daily.
  23. Committing to exercise on a weekly basis. At one point in my life I would hit the gym like a pro and it burned me out. I hate routine! Begrudgingly, I put my work out clothes on and either do the gazelle in the house for 15-20 minutes and when the weather is nice outside I will take a long walk (I live in MN so the weather is predictable thru May). Some days/weeks are hit and miss.
  24. I agree, I have started taking a few fries from my kids. Now I am not a drive thru eater, so I don't think I will go out of my way to go get fries, but I will get some from my kids and that is the start of something bad. With every diet/plan, we humans, because we are exceptionally smart, can find loop holes in cheating the plan. We now know that if we chew up food to the consistency of mush we can stomach anything. So, here goes fries, fried stuff, and for some, even bread. We begin to sample sweets and if it doesn't make us feel bad, then we will begin to add different kinds, take bigger bites or eat a whole slice. We know that we can space out our meals and Snacks to eat more (graze). PLUS, when we reach a great achievement like you have (CONGRATS) our minds begin to play tricks on us, telling us that we have made it and you can now go back to doing what you did pre surgery. I think it is good that you are freer to sample, just don't let it be the boss of you!
