  1. Nope, interesting question however.
  2. Nope, just feet getting slender. I have a few shoes that just float on my feet nowerdays. Not comfortable at all so I have started buying new shoes. I'm also taking some to shoe repair to see if they can tighten the slingbacks. Otherwise, new is the new me these days.
  3. No, I had peace beyond all understanding. Easy-breezy!
  4. So true. Even out 6.5 months, I still throw up almost on a weekly basis. I still can't eat salmon, tilapia, trout or halibut and tomato sauce and Pasta does me in as well. I hope one day that I'll be able to eat fish again. And actually, my new revelation is that I can eat a good salad from Whole Foods with no problem. Now I just need to learn how to make a few on my own. Seriously thinking about becoming a vegetarian since the surgery because I still like to eat and if I can get in a good quantity of salads, then I/and 'baby' (my pouch) are happy and satiated.
  5. Interesting question. I settled on a goal that I remember being at when I was in my early-to-mid twenties. Even then I was considered large for my height, that was over 30 years ago. It may actually not be realistic because my body is sticking and staying at a weight loss of 62 pounds, plus, I'm menopausal. I ask myself often if this is a good size at my age. I can't believe how it can't be, but I feel really good in my current skin. I want to get to my mental goal, but maybe, just maybe, that's unreasonable at my age and I should shoot for something more 'age' appropriate.
  6. Here lies the problem. Unfortunately, you are taking the brunt of a broken system. The insurance companies know that after weight loss there will be a need for plastics. I mean who wants to lose the weight to get in better health, but then have to look at the skin everyday for rest of our lives? They knew it would happen, yet they are resistant in covering the procedure. So maybe it's not a full body lift, but just cover removing the skin for ALL WLS patients. Possibly, write into the coverage skin removal from the abdomen, thighs, and arms and nothing else - not a lift, just removal. It's like it's some kind of Jedi Mind Trick or something
  7. Go buy some Magnesium supplements and take one daily. Should do the trick.
  8. My general practitioner recommended the doctor and place, however, once I had a chance to meet him, I wasn't so sure about him, so I went online to find out about him and the results were not so favorable. There were two additional doctors that practiced at the same hospital and I ended up with the right one - more personable for my taste. Glad I followed my heart and not my head
  9. Hey, my computer connection has been acting kooky, but wanted to get back with everyone to say sorry I didnt make the meet up but glad it went well.
  10. I'm in too. Especially if it's a breakfast meet-up. Let me know when, time, and where.
  11. Keep it! Get some rockin earrings and a drop necklace and wear your hair up in a naughty top knot!!!
  12. I am almost 6 months out and have lost 60 lbs. I have a friend on this site that has lost 92 lbs with the full bypass. We had surgery the same day. At first this troubled me, but then I didn't want to go that drastic, so I had to tell myself that I am different, different height, different build, just different. At 6 ft., with this weight loss, I am wearing a size 18 and looking much smaller. We are all different in the way we lose and show weight loss. I am also in menopause which has an effect on how fast I lose and I take high blood pressure meds which adds to slow weight loss. Age, meds, heights, surgery, and other factors prevent some of us from losing weight any faster than our bodies want us too. I'm hoping that I can stop taking some of my meds so it can be one less obstacle. Good luck and I hope you find out what's going on and then share it with us!
  13. I don't miss being fat, but I can relate to the skin issue. I have wings and I am not interested in flying anytime soon. There are times when I just say, "hey, love me, talk about me or hate me, today, I'm gonna go sleeveless today." However, I'm not that confident when around work or family folk. I'm also not interested in more surgery when I reach goal...considering living with the skin issue but won't quite know until I get there. Overall, I am extremely - ok, very happy with my choice. There are other mental issues that I go through that overrides the saggy skin thing right now.
  14. I haven't lost as much as most, but I can say that slingback shoes without the buckle strap are annoying. The sling slides down my heal often, plus some of my other shoes are swimming on my foot. I have taken a pair to the shoe repair to have them adjusted. Love needing to do that, but don't like thinking about buying new shoes.
  15. Pick some up at whole foods OR make your own to be safe.
  16. My guy is my rock and my support. He couldn't get around taking me out to dinner and I was struggling with it as well for a few weeks, but I have reinforced to him that he can take me anywhere and I will do the selecting of food. Even if that means that I order a regular meal and have to get a carry out for later. I sometimes complain about not eating the way that others do and not having the urge to cook anymore, but he lives with my complaints. He doesn't like the fact that I hate cooking, but is adjusting to quick 30 minute dishes when and if I cook these days. Long gone are the days of cooking big meals throughout the week. The entire family has adjusted for my success. Love them!
  17. That is sooo funny! We all feel that way at times because sometimes our baby pouches will accept lots of food and other times it doesn't and MAN when it doesn't. I just went through an episode of not keeping down too much of anything. Had to do the finger trick - oft..e..n.... Good luck and stay focused. It's doing miracles right now!
  18. I like meeting on a Saturday afternoon.
  19. I know for me, we are planning for school and the timing is off. I think after school goes back in session and things settle down a bit would be better- say mid September?
  20. Ok, let's not play games here. I Googled my clinic which has three doctors that perform the surgery. The one that presented at my information session seem knowledgeable but something didn't quite feel right about him but he was all that I knew, so I was gonna choose him....until I searched him up and read some reviews. No deaths or anything like that, but they said that he was very sterile and lacked compassion. Not good for me going through something like that. The other doctors had great reviews and I selected the best. Do the same for yourself. This is your life and your body your dealing with. I personally would not move forward with one that has such disparaging reviews. Good luck on your decision!
  21. Try to deny yourself what you want for six weeks and do what the doctor has ordered. You will be better for it.
  22. Are you gloating? Congratulations!
  23. What is normal? Is it fat, is it being out of breath, is it eating until you bust...? I ask that question with a lot of love because when you think about it, our normal was with those things added to it and maybe we should ask, when will we feel the 'new normal,' and what does that feel like? I can tell you this, you will begin to have more energy, you will get back to eating regular foods but not so much and maybe not the same foods as before. Hang in there, this will pass. We all went through this in the beginning, but my old normal is no longer. Hooray!
