  1. MEmily, how long were you on the pre-op.?
  2. I am an advocate of speaking up for yourself even when it's your doctor. I also feel that if you are not getting the results that you believe you should have or care, then seek out another doctor with your insurances approval. Your life, time missed from work, etc., is more valuable than fighting to get the care that you need and deserve. Good Luck and stay encouraged!
  3. Pre-op Protein diet, tons of Water to flush your system constantly (divide your weight in half and divide that by 64oz and that how many glasses of water to drink) and exercise should do it. Then request morning visits with the doctor/nutritionist for better results.
  4. By the looks of it, it looks like he loves you. I am African American and know that some of our men love healthier assets. My man does too. He always says, "from the tent to a g-string it don't matter." That cracks me up but for some reason I know that he will have my back through it all. Some men are fascinated about the confidence that some of us big girls exude regardless of our size and it may be a turn-on to them. They find it sexy! Looks like you have a lot of that and that will probably not go away with a smaller frame. However, I suggest you begin to have that conversation with him now just to eliminate one thing off the plate. No pun intended
  5. Your question is not unique. There have been a lot of post about this and everyone says that this need for food goes away after about 2 weeks in. I agree with laura-ven. Stick to your program and ask the NUT about this feeling/sensation. I haven't had the surgery, but studying up on these things is the best medicine. Good Luck!
  6. This was in response to an image that was posted. Read the image and you will see my point of view. Nothing personal...
  7. I would like to add to this image. "Being an advocate for civil rights, KKK marches, and GLBTQ parades/day is okay. Being stripped and censored of our first amendment rights, and not allowed to voice our opinions is not okay."
  8. Yea, Butter but with this belief comes a check in your spirit that you know Jesus' way is the right way. You can't have this belief without the Holy Spirit otherwise it's just lip service. It sounds harsh..."Love me, worship me or I will punish you," but just think if you didn't know Him, love Him, and worship Him. Would you still want to take that chance? Again, this revelation doesn't come easily, it comes with getting in His word, meditating on it, and believing that He is the truth, the way and the life, John 14:6
  9. Interesting that you ask the question about death. I used to think the same way. Why do I have to die when life is good. Then I became a believer and learned that our life is not sublime here on earth. We are born into sin and reaching the hereafter is truly sublime. I also learned that what we do here on earth in His name matters most and that doesn't have to do with good works or deeds, it has a lot to do with whom you are putting your faith and trust in. Plus, we cry because of our relationship that we have with others and not being able to see them for a while. Weeping may last for a night but joy comes in the morning Psalms 30. This is why our weeping only last for a short while because we take pleasure in knowing that we will see them again...for those that believe. Again, my belief.
  10. If you are losing weight, then you are alright. I want to gulp like I do now. Also, just like T8k asked, is it 24oz in one sitting or more?
  11. If you are doing any strength training then you are building muscle which will weigh more and coming down from 6x per week to 3-4x per week will make a difference. Once your body recognizes this it will adjust accordingly. Drink Water. They say that you only need about 25-30 min of cardio and 15min weights and large muscles burn calories/fat faster, so do leg weights.
  12. No, actually my psychologist works with patients that are going through the surgery process so she was very familiar. I would ask them if their practice is to discourage people from doing WLS and if they say no then you have two choices. Delay the process by finding another psychologist, or 2) Move forward with the process to get it over with. I think you have made up your mind already. It's not her life and she should not have a say.
  13. This is so interesting. You are the only one that has said this on the forum. Everyone here says that they struggle to get their 48-64oz in daily. Have you asked your doctor why? Is your pouch the right size? How much Water are you drinking per gulp? Sorry so many questions just so fascinating!
  14. This is good news 4theluvof and krtrebie. 4theluvof, I had another nut visit yesterday and since the clinic botched my paperwork that pushed out my surgery for another 4 months, they said that I can meet with dr Benn. So I have time to meet with all three now...yay! That worked to my advantage. Now I can get a feel for the surgeon and ask questions before selecting. I also lost 3lbs from being on the pre-op- diet and they would like to see me lose 5 more. I actually have time to lose a ton by the time I get thru my insurance phone calls but I digress.
  15. I want to drink freely like you when the time comes. How is this happening?
  16. Paul Benn was the Dr at the information session. Should I meet with all three and choose or did you love dr pierce
  17. So sorry to hear about this for you. Believing you will be well. You're in our thoughts!
  18. Cool. Who was your doctor 4thLuv?
  19. This is good because you have a choice and for me my choice is to read and believe in it from the bottom up! God is all powerful and full of grace, however; there will be a day that some will have to account for their deeds. Rev 20: 12-15 Be in the right place at the right time! Just my opinion....and I hold fast to them.
  20. I think about blood clots as well. My Mother went in for Thyroid/Tracheal surgery and never made it out due to this. So my clinic checked me to conclude that I/or my family doesn't have this propensity to blood clot through a simple blood test and it came out negative. That has given me some relief, but I know that what will be most important is the walking while in the hospital and during the first month after surgery. I am making a commitment to myself to do everything in my power to prevent this from happening.
  21. Fairview Southdale I means...oops.
  22. I won't be sleeved until April 2014. Who was your surgeon at Fairview Southlake?
  23. Old folk would say that wearing a girdle after pregnacy would keep thing in check and put things back where they belong which would inevitably shrink the stomach. They would wear the old stiff garter kind back in the day and we would wear the stiff panty girdle kind. It wasn't an all day thing, just when you were out and about, or exercising, etc. I think it kinda helps, but not really sure. I will be giving it a try at least until I can afford plastics.
  24. Any Fairview Weight Loss Clinic, Edina people here?
  25. Pray for peace while the professionals do what they do. Also, pray for divine intervention with the doctors. Prayer can change things.
