Do You Have A Name For The Process?

Hahaha! I'm too new to the game, and I have a love/hate relationship with my band...it's a touchy lil bastard! I'm 2 months out. As a problem child from the word "Jump," (because my body swells more than most); I have been dubbed "a weenie" by my NP who does my fills at my surgeons office (all-in-fun of course! ) After my surgery, I couldn't keep liquids down from the swelling and was hospitalized for dehydration. I had my first fill of 4.5cc six weeks out...rrr...uhhh...wait! I didn't even make it out of the office, as the first dixie cup of Water didn't stay down. So, 1.5cc backed out; I went home and was good to go. My second fill was 2 weeks later...adding back 1.5cc while being told by my NP that "We may have to sneak up on it." She wanted me to come back the next week for a possible small fill. Needless to say, I had to cancel that appt. for this Tuesday as I am just starting to be OK with solid foods, while paying extra special attention to eating small bites; chewing really well, and waiting 1 minute between bites. I feel that I may already be knocking on the green zone door. The love part comes in because it IS doing it's job! I am steadily losing inches and pounds. I will be thinking of a good name in good time!
  2. I would say that it may not be healthy that your friend feels as though your friendship only surrounds drinking. You can still have fun with our drinking, I have most of my life. There may be some that do not support your life changing decision... but it's your life and your decision. I luckily have been supported by everyone I've told. Good luck DanaKat!
  3. That's where mine is. I have four total. Two to the right and left side of my upper belly, and one larger incision just above my belly button with a small incision just above my port to left of my belly button. I'm almost 2 months out and they are healing beautifully.

    help!

Yes, prep shakes can usually be made with skim or 1% milk. I started using Fair life which has higher protein and calcium and lower fat than regular milk...and it is lactose free. It's so good!

    help!

I would suggest eating high protein/ low carb things right before bed. Greek yogurt usually was good at tiding me over at night. Or string cheese. These foods help me level out my blood sugars when I stay up late during the weekends.

    I give up!

Please stay with it. We all trip up here and there. These are things that I bet all of us have struggled with. One mis - step is not going to make or break the whole deal. Pick yourself up and try again. Don't give up, you can do this! I believe in you! Your doc will not rip up your paperwork for a slip. You're human, just let you doc know and you will be fine.
  7. Wow, I had a feeling! I just went in for my 2nd fill yesterday. They filled me up 1.5 cc which is what they unfilled during my first fill appt. It is day two. Very tight...doing liquids, took me 24 hours to get through a 20 oz. Muscle milk. I'll see how it goes tomorrow. May or may not need this unfilled. Junebug36- so glad you feel better.

  9. Wow, Nolansnana! I haven't heard of that. Mine is just to the left of my belly button...about 2" over.
  10. Welcome! I had a lot of the same motivations for taking this step. I thought for a long time I could do this on my own. But, in reality, my body was fighting back. I needed the help and am happy for the choice I made. I wish you a successful journey!
  11. Good, I'm glad you're doing better...and I know just how you feel.
  12. I am only 1 1/2 months out from surgery, but day 1 I could feel the port. I agree, the marble analogy is spot on. It is not an obnoxious lump you can see, but you can feel it. I also agree that no one will notice but you. It is worth having a small lump for the rewards the lap band will provide.

    great news.

I was in your shoes nor so long ago. Congrats! Your day will be coming soon....Hang in there
  14. Hey Junebug. Have called your surgeons office about this? Mine told me that if by the 2nd or third day, if the was problems getting back to solids.. you should go in for an unfill. You should be able to get down mushies at the least. I'm kind of worried about you. Also, it could be a possibility that you did too much early on after the fill and you stoma is irrirated. Then I would stick with liquids for a few days for swelling to go down. I would still call your Dr.
  15. Hi bulawookie! Well, I was a problem child from the start. I was fine the day of surgery and for first 3 hours of liquids on the first day home. But then could mot keep any liquids down. My body swelled up so much that I was hospitalized for dehydration. I have a 10 cc band. My first fill was 4.5cc. But whole in the waiting room...could not keep the first Dixie cup of water down...was just like before. Had to go back in ( I hadn't left the office yet) and ask for an unfill.
