In the first place you should be talking to your doctor about this it's a serious matter and decision.
Every medication or supplement has the potential for side effects or interfering with something else you take not working.
Don't do anything on your own regarding this because it just might be very dangerous to your health.

Caffeine acts like a diaretic in your system and it's to early for Decaf coffee unless your surgeon says it's okay to have a little.
When it comes to eggs you will be able to have them as soon as you are on soft food and I think cheese also but don't quote me about that.
Glad to hear you're doing okay that great.
Take care and keep coming back.

I would call the insurance company to make sure that the surgeons office actually sent in your paper work and where you stand on this with them.
I would call your email the office manager and tell them exactly what is going on with this situation and how poorly you are being treated.
In the worst case you could change surgeons and see if your insurance company would make you start all over again or if you can transfer your information to a new surgeon.
You don't have to put up with this and don't because they are playing with your life decision.
Best of luck in getting some answers.

Follow what your surgeon says it's very important.
The reason you have to do this is to reduce your liver for surgery to make it easier for the surgeon to get to your stomach.
Remember that after surgery you will be on liquids for a few weeks to help your new sleeve to heal. Your sleeve is delicate and takes months for it to heal properly.
I know this even though I had gastric bypass I was first preparing for the sleeve and didn't change procedures until two weeks before surgery.
Please don't cut corners here you need to do this for everything to go right with surgery.
I wish you the best with your upcoming surgery.

Chelly got a reaction from ionpenningsheld in In hospital. Very uncomfortable. What have I done?
The first day after surgery I was totally out of it. The next day I got up several times to go to the bathroom and walk the halls of the unit.
I was in the hospital for four days total because I had a hard time getting fluids down but each day it got a little easier and by day four I got enough in to go home.
So my advise is walk to help get rid of that nasty gas pain as much as you can there and at home also take in the fluids that they want you to have so you don't get dehydrated. Must do this at home too or you'll wind up back there.
Also take the pain meds as needed to help.
    It gets easier I swear.
    Feel better and stay well.

Why don't you appeal the decision of the insurance company?
    It can't hurt to try.
A lot safer here then in Mexico because you would have follow up after surgery.
    This is just my opinion.
    Good luck.

    Don't give up.
Fight back and appeal that decision by your insurance company.
Have your surgeon and PCP write letters to confirm that this is medically necessary to have done.
You'll never know unless you stick up for yourself what can happen.
    Go for it.
    Good luck...

Chelly got a reaction from Kimberly Bouche-Perez in 12 DAYS POST OP NEED HELP
Tell your surgeon that you are not getting in your Protein because that could delay healing.
May I suggest powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup. It packs 20g of Protein per serving. I used it a lot at the beginning.
Mixing Isopure with Water and ice will help get in protein. It might take time to get used to it or to experiment with what flavor you like.
Are you getting in your Water because if you don't you will dehydrate and that would mean a trip to the ER for IV fluids.
Protein is essential, water is essential and your Vitamins. Without these you will not heal and later your hair will probably fall out more from the lack of these things.
Again talk to your surgeon or nutritionist immediately and do pass go.
Good luck in figuring this out.

Today I am officially one year out and I have a normal BMI.
I just saw my nutritionist and she didn't recognize me at first. Which is funny and really nice. She also said she is very proud of me.
Even though I developed Reactive Hypoglycemia which only 2% of Gastric Bypass patients get I wouldn't change a thing about having this surgery.
The pluses out way the minus of getting this.
It's been an educational journey which I will continue to take from this day forward.
I wish all of you great success on your journeys too.

There is no way I would want to be big again.
I have sagging places all over yet I look good in clothes.
I'm happy that I'm here and able to do things that I was unable to do before.
My body is my body and I will exercise to help keep it fit but if I don't loose this sagging oh well.
I tell you a story I once died because of an error I made in quiting a medication cold turkey and I am lucky that I'm here to talk to you.
So be grateful for everyday and that you are loved no matter what.
The things you talk about can be fixed by changing some things in your eating and others don't add up to a hill of Beans if you are loved by family unconditionally.
Maybe you should talk to a therapist about your self image it might help.
May you find peace and happiness.
    Good luck.

Caffeine is a BIG no, no....
I quit a major Diet Coke habit way before surgery and I am glad I did it before hand because carbonated drinks of any kind are not good for your gastric bypass. So no soda, no sparkling Water, no club soda.
Caffeine acts like a diuretic also.
So get rid of this habit now so your body is clear of it before surgery.

Chelly got a reaction from Djmohr in 41 years old and torn between sleeve and RNY... any advice?
I originally was going to have the sleeve and until my gastric doctor told me with my reflux and GERDS I would be sorry so I went with gastric bypass and I'm very happy that I did.
I have not taken any diabetic meds since surgery, I no longer take high blood pressure meds, no Migraine meds, no chlosterol meds, no GERDS meds, no more CPAP machine.
My last A1C was 4.7 a couple of months ago.
This decision for you should be made by you and your surgeon's suggestions. Only you can make the final decision of what's best for you.
Look at every piece of information you can to research to help you make the final decision.
Good luck with your surgery and here's to you for a happier and healthier life.

Never let anyone even yourself stand in your way of happiness and better health.
Many people here have made great suggestions to you of what you could possibly do to succeed at this.
We all are emotional beings and each of us deals with it in many different bad habits.
Here on this board we came from being eaters to bury our feelings.
This surgery is for life and each of us works at each day to deal with things that can trigger us.
All we can do is our very best at controlling our eating everyday. Those days work into weeks, then months, then years of healthy and happy lives.
So do your damnedest to figure a way of getting this surgery.
    Best of luck to you.

I have always had candy in the house since surgery for my husband and I haven't touched it or even been tempted to touch it and I'm a sugar person.
I have my sugar free fudgeicles, sugar free popsicles, sugar free pudding, Quest bars, Detour simple Protein Bars or fruit and that satisfies me perfectly when I want something.
So I'm not worried about Halloween or any other holiday that includes sweets.

It's it worth the extra calories you are taking in from drinking them?
If you think about it you are taking in 280 to 560 extra calories a week having them.
Only you can be the determining factor in this equation.
You are the one who has to decide.

Chelly reacted to RJ'S/beginning in The Gentle Breeze of Hope
Standing outside this morning I looked about and all was quiet. Moments later a light breeze started to affect one of the Maples we planted thirty years ago. It drew my attention because it was a soft rustling noise that came from no where and sounded peaceful and pleasant. Suddenly in the distance I could hear the rumbling of thunder and it felt ominous. Approaching my peaceful moment with the ability to give me cause to worry. It hit me that the entire experience of a few moments was comparable to the journey of weight loss surgery.

We get to a point where we give in and think that we have reached the bottom of our life. There is nothing left and we think there is nothing for us out there to help or offer us an option to turn our lives around. But through gentle words and in the form of encouragement by family, friends and the medical field we learn about Bariatric Surgery. We are offered a tool that can assist us to find a new path to good health and well being. A fear builds deep within us but we know inside that this is the only option left. This is make or break it time and we have no where else to go. We see our mortality and the future looks dim. We are willing to do what it takes to find ourselves on the other side which offers a new life without food addiction.
We can't even imagine how that would feel to be thin and in good health. Finally having the real control of our future and our lives. Not being the object of well intentioned or intentional comments or opinions that hurt so deep we feel wounded and or scarred for the rest of our days. But it is not to be. We have an option. A gentle breeze overcomes us as we realize we do have an option. We do have a future. One that will keep us around long enough to enjoy the rest of our lives as the person we always wanted to be. Being able to watch our children grow up and then the grandchildren. Not to mention doing all the things you thought you would never do. Making a bucket list of experiences you want to have and places you want to go. Not to mention the effects this new and improved you will have in a positive way with your family and friends, work acquaintances and yes even strangers. This is the gentle breeze of realization that is engulfing your spirit and giving you hope for a better life ahead.
When does the thunder roll in the distance to threaten this new found peace you are experiencing? When you realize that it will take real effort on your part to accomplish this. When you take the time to really start changing how you view food and figure out why you used food as a comfort in good times and in bad. We are conditioned to believe that food plays a much bigger roll in our lives then simply giving us the proper nutrients to keep our bodies in good working order. By well meaning parents who told us how it was so important to clean our plates to the diet industry that makes millions off of failed diets. The false comfort in the form of food related slogans that advertising companies use to make us think that food equals happiness. That food is the backbone of our lives. Here are a few.
Help yourself to happiness – Golden Coral
Come hungry, leave happy – IHOP
    Unwrap a smile – Little Debbie's
Comfort in every bite – Mars Bar
Life tastes better with KFC – Kentucky Fried chicken
Little nuggets of joy- McDonald's Chicken McNuggets
Double your flavor, double your fun – Double Mint Gum
Feels like home – Sarah Lee
Get your smile on – Lay's
And on and on, teaching us that food is the answer to all our woes and will bring us happiness. But we know from our own personal experiences that this is not the case. And yet we battle these feelings of needing food as the drug of choice to fulfill in us an emptiness every single day. We find ourselves reverting back to the habits that has brought us momentary relief only to find that it did not help at all.
This is the thunder that we all experience in our journey. The fight to stay on course and not give into the heavy winds and booming sounds of habit or the artificial comfort of using food to make us feel better. We are in a war. We will win a battle at a time. We will get there. Maybe not today or tomorrow but we will control this disease. Weight loss surgery is our tool to learn new life long habits and choices that will once again bring the gentle breeze of hope and then success.

If you haven't tried that yet may I recommend Jay Robb Egg White Protein powder and if you can tolerate Whey Protein powders then the Jay Robb is easy to drink. I use both types.
You can get Jay Robb products at Whole Foods, directly from the company or Amazon. The come in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and one or two other flavors.
May I also recommend Torani sugar free syrups to give your shake a different flavor. They are made with Splenda. They come in a multitude of flavors. You can get them directly from the company or if you have World Market stores in your area they carry it too.
    Feel better.
