Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
My aunt went crazy-happy when her daughter got a letter published in TV Guide. My first novel had just come out in paperback, and my mother was more thrilled with the niece's letter in TV Guide....oy. Recent "I am skinny and you are not" tales: I'm sitting on a panel interview for the day job with a new supervisor (7 people interviewing one poor candidate). I tell her, "I'm going to be gone two weeks in September. I'm having weight loss surgery." I apologized, as it was an odd thing to say to someone I'd just met, but she should know right? She looked at me and said something like, "I've been so busy I forget to eat." Forget to eat? Hello...I'm on 800 freakin' calories a day and you forget to eat? After my nursing/psych appt on 8/8, DH and I went to get some lunch. We were out of town, without a clue. We stopped at a hole-in-the-wall pizza place, as their window said, "Soup!" I couldn't fit in the bench seats. We walked across the parking lot and had chicken at a little Japanese place. Darr

Hard time parting with the fat clothes....
Loved the shoulder pads. Loved the flight suits. Loved the whole "Pat Benetar look." I look very forward to having to make a decision about giving away my fat clothes and buying phat clothes Darr

A garden of delights
It was good! "Was" being the operative word. I had nine people to feed last night, and they ate two loaves of French bread and all the soup. I had a cup of the broth as a snack when putting everything away. If I could, I'd bring you some soup, myself. Phoenix sounds pretty darn good to me! Darr

Confused, Interference From Family and Friends
There comes a time when we each need to make a decision for ourselves, and no-one else. Think of this postponement as a protective function from the universe, and try again. Perhaps the surgery will have an even better result if you wait a month. Don't give up and don't despair. Darr

A garden of delights
I am on the 800-calorie pre-op diet. Tonight I made meatball Soup with organic ground turkey, almond meal, roasted carrot soup as the base and the rest of it consisted of vegetables that I grew and picked this morning. Patapan squash, zucchini, red onion, tomatoes, leeks, peas. I chopped everything up and tossed it into the pot. I had 2 meatballs and 1 cup of soup broth tonight for dinner. I am at a grand total of 690 calories for the day, minus 211 for my exercise. CalorieKing rocks, huh? I am hungry! I'm weighing tomorrow on the postal scale (I get applause from the bulk mail clerks). Darr

Of Flesh and Blood
I'm psyched! No...not psycho... I received my new cover art today for my October release. It's a "vampire" anthology with two other authors. Each tale is quite different. I like it! I like the cover a lot! Darr :whoo:

Name one thing people would be surprised to know about you
I have a teeny hole in the roof of my mouth that I can whistle through. Born with it. No-one knew about until I mentioned it when I was 14 or so. I was 13 when I gave my first professional psychic reading. Darr

Bandster support for us Heathens/Pagans
Buddhist here. SGI-USA. 25 years. I left the Sunday school realm when my instructor started preaching against "secular music" after he stopped me from playing the theme from Fiddler on the Roof on the piano in the church multi-purpose room. Decided to start attending Temple with my Jewish friends. Did that for years. Until we were all turning 18 and they wanted to join the Israeli army to fight. I don't think warfare is ever the answer, yanno? Shortly thereafter, I encountered Buddhism. Been chanting ever since. In fact I see this, my 24th year, as a new beginning for me in that one of the first things I ever chanted about was losing weight and keeping it off. So I had to do a little Human Revolution and change some fundamental negativy before having WLS, but I'm there, really soon and I couldn't be more appreciative. Darr

I auditioned for the band today!
My goal is to amuse! We're on one hellofa journey and a little humor can go a long way. I have had more than one person tell me I should do stand up comedy. Maybe I can work out a whole routine about being banded, huh? I'm already toying with a romance novel idea that involves a woman and her lapband. Yeah...I know...I'm nuts. But, hey! I passed the psych eval today! :whoo: WHOOOT! Darr

I auditioned for the band today!
Excited. Yes! That's a great e-word. I'm not sure that I've been very active in the Washington thread. Is this a challenge?

I auditioned for the band today!
And I made the cut! My surgery date is 9/19. I met with the nurse and psychologist today, and got my date. I meet the surgeon tomorrow and if he decides I need to have a sleep study, my surgery is set out far enough so that I can get it done well beforehand. I'm going to rein my thoughts in from the ethers and try to get my personal lapband journey memorialized now. I am completely spent. Exhausted, elated, euphoric and any other happy "e-word" that comes to mind. Many blessings, band members-- Darr

Sara Lee....what the???????
I don't like Sara Lee. Or Little Debbi. And I have been known to perform exorcisms on Twinkies.
