Nope but I do know that third world countries have higher infant mortality and also higher death rates for pregnant women.

Hey guys, at home just resting. Trying to get the liquids in. The "slim sack" I purchased from my doctor's office has so many Protein options I might overdose!

This is where you can see the difference in doctors! Vanna and I had surgery the same day. I can't have "soft" foods for 3 more weeks!
I still have to make it through one week of "liquids" and then two weeks of "pureed". :-(

Just had my first matrix cookie mint shake since pre op. Still tastes just as good. Plus the 23 grams of Protein helps.

Just got back from a short walk around the block. Only .67 miles and I'm pooped. I normally walk at least 3 miles a day. Tomorrow is one week so hopefully the endurance will improve.

I'm required to walk 25-45 minutes a day but that's all I've been cleared for. I'm not up to 45 minutes yet. Makes me feel ill. It's back to work on Monday, I work full time and only had 3 weeks off, but the notion remains the same. Calories in and calories out is dietician 101. You would think it would take more to run my body than the 500 calories I manage to choke down. If that. In my opinion.

Isn't it amazing! Same here- I'm still on Clear Liquids (although I did scramble a plain egg yesterday to try to get the pipes moving) but I had a friend have the surgery done at the same surgical center (different dr) and they started her on soft foods 2 days after surgery!!

Just had my one week appointment and I'm down 13lbs! Also I was released to soft foods. My book from my doc says another week of liquids then 3 weeks of puree before soft, but because I'm tolerating liquids well he said I can do soft food!

I was able to walk for 25 minutes yesterday before feeling faint and had to walk home. I was only about 5 minutes from my house. Prior to surgery I would walk my whole neighborhood at a quick pace and it would take 45mins. Yesterday it was slow moving. I want so bad to be able to work out normally to boost weight loss, but I'm not there yet.

Finally diet advanced to puréed foods from clear liquids. The first thing I have had in a week that I couldn't see thru. It's a hard boiled egg chopped up fine in my magic bullet. Tis is the best thing I have ever eaten. Lol. I wish I felt like exercising. I am still on the losers bench down 37.2 pounds. But I know I have to start exercising soon. I am feel that by finally advancing my diet to more than clear liquids maybe I will get some energy back. Good luck to everyone

Love being home! I feel pretty great! I had a rough time right after surgery- kept throwing up- but since there was nothing to throw up it was dry heaves/convulsions. Several IV's of Zofran, nausea patch and everything they could give me- the nausea finally subsided! They kept me one night extra in the hospital but I was released today! I've managed to walk off most of the has pains and the gas ex strips that you let melt on your tongue have been awesome! My incisions are starting to itch but other than that I feel awesome!! I've been drinking (sipping) on my Isopure and Water and was completely full after eating 1/4 of a slice of cheese!

I thought the same thing about the jello in the hospital it seemed suddenly too sweet for me, but I've been home for about 4 days now and although I haven't had any problems doing the Protein Shakes or Water, I started craving something more substantial it was driving me crazy having to wait another week before I could do soft foods, so I took the crazy plunge today and tried mashed potatoes... they tasted good going down but once I got them down I felt like I was going to be sick and I was mad at myself for doing it, but I just layed down for about an hour or so and I managed to keep it down without getting sick but it did feel kind of heavy in my pouch. I don't know if it was more because the potatoes were kind of dry (not moist enough) or whether it was just too soon to do soft foods. Lesson learned I don't think I will be pulling a stunt like that again. I also ran into the situation where two of my incisions became infected and I had to go to the ER and have them checked out so now I have to take antibiotics for a while and put antibiotic cream on the stitches too for a few days until I'm in the clear again but the antibiotic pills are pretty big and I tried braking them open and putting in applesauce (cause they are a powder pill) but I couldn't brake them open so I had to just take them whole and hope they didn't get stuck... that was kind of scary at first... but they seem to have gone down okay. As far as pain I'm still kind of sore here and there but most of the pain I get is right about where my pouch sits it hurts when I wake up in the morning sometimes and through the day every now and again it gets kind of painful so I just take my pain meds and it usually calms the pain right down.
The other thing that has been happening and I don't know if this has happened to anyone else but I get sort of like the hiccups or I should say hiccup every few moments and when it happens it hurts the doctors say its just air or gas trapped at the bottom of my pouch, I don't know if I totally buy that theory. And lately my stomach (the outside where the stitches are) has been itching like crazy, now I know they say if its itchy that means its healing (at least that is what Mom use to say when we were kids) but I'm so afraid I will accidentally itch one of the stitches I try to be careful but dang they itch so much.... that is normal too right?

Lou, I'm so sorry you're having a rough time! Just keep walking as much as you can and it will pass. Did you ask for some gas-x? hang in there, sweetie! This too shall pass.
