I'm not pregant, but I plan on getting pregnant as soon as I'm allowed to... and have been talking with my DR about it alot. She says that just like pre-op, pregnancy can cause many extra hormones that cause you to want to eat and feel more hungry than normal. You need to make sure that you are controlling yourself, and only eating what your body NEEDS, not just whenever it WANTS. I know its easier said than done, but it's important to remember

TurnThePage, I also read your comment as rude and judgmental. When I read this question, I thought it was totally fair, because as you probably know, when you first have your surgery, you don't feel a sesation of fulness, so its important to know how much your stomach can hold and how much is acceptable and safe to eat. My surgery center was excellent at making these kinds of things very clear to me, but some aren't, so people shouldn't feel ashamed to ask any questions here.

I'm not great at accepting compliments either. Just smile and thank them. I usually do that and say, Thank you, I FEEL great. That usually gets them off the looks and onto how I feel.

I've heard a few different ideas, but wanted to check in with y'all. I HATE Unjury unflavored. It is not unflavored at all. lol. Anyone find any better ones?

My husband had the same fears. Now that I am 6 months post op, I can see why, a little. Not that I'd EVER do that either. But when you are so used to just being the big girl, and then men start giving you attention, it does feel good. Some people, if they are lacking in their current relationship, find it easy to give in to it. I find it flattering, but I'd never act on it. My husband and I make sure to communicate openly though. For example, I was feeling good about myself because of the compliments I was getting, and felt a little bit like he stopped doing that. Ever since that conversation, he has gone out of his way to say the nice things he's thinking, instead of just dismissing it. It changes everything, being open and honest. Counseling through a huge change like this is always a good option too! Because this is a huge change for us, but sometimes we forget that its just as difficult for our spouses/significant others to adapt to.

I love the iced passion tea with no sweetener and add 2 splendas. So yummy and refreshing. It also hydrates you just like Water. If I want something hot, I get a flavored skinny Decaf latte

Good Luck! I know its hard, but this is all about learning a balanced diet. I think we all go through the phase where we are afraid to eat carbs. It gets easier.

It could be a few things. I had a 5 week stall once. I was doing everything right. sometimes it just happens. But your body needs a certain amount of carbs in order to put the Protein to good use in your body. Try adding a little bit of carb by doing some complex carbohydrates and see if that helps.

My surgeon, OB and nut are all on the same page. I have a plan in place by all 3 and know what I can and can't have. I've also been told if I'm craving something to go ahead but not to over do it. Which I don't cause I will get sick. I've been told to gain weight (25-35lbs). I am eating healthy and doing exactly what I've been told. Thanks anyway.

Read my post above. I'm glad everything was fine for you, but that's not great advise to give to people. Always ALWAYS encourage people to listen to their own doctor. many doctors have many different opinions, but I'd never suggest straying from what the Dr says.

erikaloftin got a reaction from Judyr in Afraid to start the protein milkshakes
First thing, I wouldn't think of them as milkshakes. lol. You'll feel extremely let down. Its a Meal Replacement. There are some brands that are easier to get down than others. A good starter one is Body Fortress chocolate Peanut Butter. It is at Walmart. Whatever you get, make sure the first source of Protein is "whey protein isolate" Our bodies do not digest "whey protein concentrate" correctly so it doesn't really help. Another protein we can digest is "calcium caseinate". There are a few others, like soy, but those are the two most common. Just incase you didn't know.

Before the surgery, I didn't tell many people, because the few I did tell gave me the "Why would you do that to yourself" Ignorant speech. After surgery, I don't mind telling people because they can't really say anything about it... lol

You have to like coconut (which I do) and DISHWATER (which I don't) because that is what it tastes like.

also, you could add powdered milk for extra Protein if you don't like the unflavored stuff. (I didn't). Especially if you're into some of the big Proteins that are 20+ g per serving, if you mix half of one with 10 oz of milk, you're still getting about 20g of protein. not too shabby!

You could always do 1/2 strength Protein Powder with the same amount of milk. That may help. Or mix half of your favorite flavor with half unflavored. I usually just use more milk and less powder when they are too sweet. Hope that helps!

I can eat a little but not if it's too dry and I have to eat slowly and chew carefully. I had one from Chili's w/guacamole. I'm not usually a guacamole fan but it helped the burger go down easy. And it was MUCH tastier than expected. :-)
