judyinmn got a reaction from LoraLei2 in 50's
I am 53 yrs old and had surgery on Oct 24th, 2012. I was supposed to have a vertical sleeve, but the week before surgery, I had an upper endoscopy. They found Barretts esophagus, so I had the RNY procedure. Things are going pretty well. I try to get in 60 gms. of Protein per day and 48 oz of Water. I am down 20 lbs. and exercising 30 min per day.....whew!

It has been a year, the time goes by so quickly. I feel so much better. Only 18 more lbs to go to goal.
I start with a personal trainer today, so I hope these last few pounds come off soon.
Good luck to all of you starting this journey.

I doubt that you are done losing at 5.5 months. Sounds like you are at a stall. At this stage to help you out of your stall you need to change a few things. Examples:
    1. Increase your Protein
    2. Change up your workout routine
    3. Keep a food log and make sure you are eating appropriate things
    4. Eliminate stress - if you find yourself in a stressful time our bodies will hold on to fat
    5. Stay off the scale everyday.

The amazing thing about our bodies is that it finds its happy medium weight. We lose the weight quickly and most of the time lose more than expected and then our bodies will bounce back up some.
I have found that I am still losing inches, but not really weight. I have stabilized between 130 - 140, but I look a lot smaller than that. Someone asked me the other day if I weighed 90lbs. I am told all the time that I need to stop losing weight, and my response is that I am no longer losing weight but I am losing inches. We have no control over where our bodies choose to be. My goal weight was initially 150. I was happy being at 150, but my body seems to like 137.

Have you ever tried Greek style cottage cheese? It is from Kemp's....I think the fruit added ones taste too sweet, but the one with cucumber or the plain is very good. They have 19 gm of Protein in 5.7oz.

You will do just fine, stop over thinking everything because you will drive yourself nuts. You have every right to be nervous and scared because we all were. RNY is a huge help in curving your appetite and you really can't eat that much either. I am 16 months post op and eat regular food but......my food choices are healthy, I learned Portion Control and exercise are the key ingredients to success with RNY surgery.
Embrace the surgery and worth with it on the positive side of you can and will do this with the help of surgery. Eat good healthy food, in moderation, know your weakness and stay away form them and exercise= success

People always ask how I have lost so much weight....I tell them that I have had bariatric surgery. They always ask how it is going-I tell them, great, I am only 7 months out and still have 40 lbs to go. Then they ask if I ever had trouble-I tell them that I am lucky and have no problems.

Have you tried PB2? ? It is a powdered Peanut Butter found on the shelf by regular peanut butter. I add 1-2T to my chocolate Protein Powder and it tastes like Reese's.

I was a 44DDD, and wish they wouldn't leave so quickly! I really miss them and don't know how I'm feeling about going down to a C cup right now. A coworker just gave me a huge box of clothing and she said to get some sports bras for the transition, they're more comfortable. I don't have any regrets, I just wish I had more warning!

I bought a new pair of work pant because the ones I was wearing I could take off without unbuttoning them. I wore my new pant today and my boss said they were too big and to get a belt! Oy! I thought they fit when I bought them YESTERDAY!!!!!!!
