Protein Shakes?

I have tried making a couple of different protein shakes and they tasted pretty bad. Those of you that make protein shakes what are some your favorite recipes? I am not getting enough protein and would really like to have use these in my diet!

  • I like the Unjury products. I will put 1 scoop of chocolate, and 1-2 T. powdered peanut butter into 8 oz Original Almond milk....tastes like Reese's peanut butter.

  • I like isopure grape frost too. A whole bottle has 40 grams of protein so I just usually have half of one each day- even though they're expensive they're the best thing I've found.

I don't have any shake recipes but if you want to try single servings of various brands including the Syntrax nectar, go to Nashua Nutrition's online store. Their single serve samples are $1.95 each.

I'd love some ideas too.

I am still pre-op but isopure fruit drinks have 40 g of protein and taste like gatorade, are those not allowed to complete your protein intake?

I haven't heard of these before but I am going to try them! Thanks! Btw what flavor is best in your opinion?

I've only tried the grape frost (I love anything with grape flavor, LOL) but also bought blueberry and fruit punch, I just wanted to make sure it did not have a terrible after taste, and it doesn't. They are pretty expensive though, one large bottle costs 5+ dlls, you can buy a 12 pack for 65 dlls or so. I know many doctors recommend this brand, so I am assuming it is one of the best out there. At GNC they sell them separately, so you can try one before buying a whole pack.

I love the Isopure as well.

I mix half a bottle (10 oz) with matching flavored Water (10 oz). I've also just drank them as they are. I've tried most of the flavors and I haven't found one that I didn't like. The grape frost is the best!

Funny, before surgery I tolerated just about any protein drink...now 4 wks out, yeah NO is putting it politely!! Projectile vomiting...the only thing I can tolerate now is called roadside lemonade made by Nectar. They have alot of different kinds, I used to like the peach flavor with orange crystal light but I'm hesitant to try it now. Goin with what works at this point. Good luck!!

My fear exactly... reason why I don't want to overstock!

Ironically, the brand I ended up liking is one they don't sell. Chike & Unjury also sell singles so you can try before investing in a tub. Also what I liked preop was not always what I liked as a postop.

Forgot to mention that the blog The World According to Eggface has shake recipes among other tasty ideas. Dashing Dish has shake recipes too.

Unjury is really good! I like it a lot. I make the vanilla and add orange crystal light and it tastes like a creamcicle. The chocolate is super good too. They even have a no flavor that you can add to other food.

So I know its not technically a "shake" but have any of you tried the Unjury chicken soup flavor? I tried it for the first time today, and OMG YUM! So glad I like it. I have a feeling I'm going to live off this stuff post-op.

I drink the premier protein shakes that I get from Costco. They have 30 grams of protein in each one. A pack of 18 costs around $25.

I drink a 4 oz protein drink. It has 30 grams of protein and with it only being 4 oz I can chug it and be done. It is muscle max brand. It is called max pro. I use the orange flavor and it sort of tastes like orange sherbet push up pop. I use lactose free 2% milk. I also add in my vitamins and in one serving I get 38 grams of protein and all the vitamins I need for the day.
