I have not lost any friends but they do treat me differently. They r now my food police and watch every thing I eat. Always asking "can u eat that?" It's funny sometimes, they think we only have baby food I guess. I didn't tell most of them until I had the surgery. I'm 15 months out and now the smallest of them. Of course they feel I'm too small lol I wear a 6 and i am 5'4. It's taken them sometime but it's getting back to normal. Buy it was weird for awhile. I tried not to talk about it with them so I used this site to Celebrate all my successes, like pound lost and sizes lost.

I am 18 months post op and can eat anything I want. I am at goal weight and have only dumped once. I would say I am a chocolate nut as well!
I eat chocolate when I want to. There are times it gets out of control and I eat a little more than I should. This is usually around the time of the month for me. I usually crave sweets during that lovely time.
I do believe that it is all in how you look at things. I don't consider it cheating. Everything in moderation is normal. I believe if we continue to see it as "cheating" we set ourselves up to fail. We have spent so many years telling ourselves what we must "give up" or "deny" food. It is ingrained in us that we should feel guilty about having a piece of birthday cake on our birthday.
With all that said it can be a slippery slope. You must keep yourself in check and make sure you are eating the "guilty" food in moderation. I was several months post op when I went a little crazy and ate a lot of sweets. It started a spiral of guilty feelings and depressive thoughts. These boards help pull me back to reality. The reality was that I needed to figure out why had I started down that path. I discovered that I ate the sweets mainly when I was driving at work and stopped at a gas station. I would then buy sweets and eat them throughout the day. I counter acted this by logging foods and making sure I had Snacks in my truck with me. I also found food that would satisfy my sweet tooth that was low in calories, and had other nutritional benefits.
Finally I would have a little conversation with myself to figure out why I wanted the food. If you deny yourself the food for the rest of your life then you will either go nuts and eat too much or you become obsessed about what you CAN NOT have.
We all paid money to have this surgery, but I mainly paid this money to gain my life back. Make sure you keep yourself in check which since you are posting asking questions means you are. Make sure you don't let anyone make you feel like you are doing everything wrong. Make sure you are following your doctors orders. Finally make sure you stay true to yourself, and remember we are human and not perfect little robots.
    Congrats on your new life!

Im also losing slowly, what I started to do was revert back to my liquid phase, I had surgery August 20th, was 240, now 177, at first I was dropoing so fast my head was spinning, but then I got lazy and stopped getting in all my Protein so so the weight lost almost complete stopped, Ive been doing my Protein Shake diet for three days and have lost 3 lbs, only plan on doing it for a week then going back to solids and staying ontop of my protein, im not starving myself, I still get 600+ calories a day but lots of protein and Water definitely help

Hi, Patty, It's been 13 years since I had my surgery, the good news is, after not losing 1 pound in a one month checkup, I've lost a total of 125 lbs and I have kept it off for all these years , except for awhile I got lazy, and I gained back 50 lbs and then I got mad at myself and decided to see Dr. Baker to see if he could perform another surgery but he couldn't because I have medicaid and they pay for the first surgery but not the second. Dr. Baker checked through the scope to see if my opening was bigger and he said no it wasn't so I decided to lose the weight on my own, I'm down 75 lbs since I decided 13 years after my surgery to lose the weight on my own. It was only hard the first couple of days then it became much easier until finally , my friends, and family were telling me to stop, I lost enough. Anyway, I'm not stopping until I get to 140lbs. I have 15 lbs to go. I weighed 278 lbs to start with and now i wiegh 155 lbs. Thank God for bariatric surgery!!!!! Don't worry it will keep coming off no matter what. Although they say you can eat sweets , don't.Thats what I ate until I gained 50 lbs of fat!!I lost the last 75 lbs, with the help of Gardinia Cambogia. It really curbs your appetitite and stops the cravings you have. It works.

I went with bypass for several reasons. There is more long term data behind bypass. My doc thought I would have better results with it. I liked the idea of it being the final surgery. I liked the caloric malabsorption.
As far as the other poster who said you can only eat 3 tablespoons of food at a time or the you can no longer have sugar or carbs. That Is not the case with me. I am 15 months post op and enjoy any food. The biggest difference is portions. I can eat everything I used to, the difference is if I choose to. We all need to have a chance to eat freely and with time you can after bypass. The trick is understanding this is a tool and you can misuse your tool.

Beyond any shadow of a doubt, hands down, absolutely positively the single most powerful tool you can possibly have in your arsenal, regardless of where you're at in your journey - pre-op, rapid weight loss, maintenance, and yes - getting back on track following weight gain. Nuff said.

Whatever you do... Get back to drinking the shakes. Your body needs it up until 12 to 18 months. If you want a nice snap back look you need your shakes... Among other reasons as well.
Those people that have that "its obvious you has gastric bypass look" went of their shakes and/or Vitamins .
I've tried a numerous amount if shakes. My fav is Blue Bonnet. Freakn delicious.
If anything try and have 1 shake after you work out... Your body needs the Protein to rebuild... Plus,it also helps to tone and build sexy muscles.

Laverne1908 reacted to SoccerMomma73 in Anyone eat bread or tortillas?
So these are my preferred tortillas and bread. I can eat 1 small tortilla or 1 slice of bread (toasted or unloaded) without issue.
As you can see, the tortillas are 80 calories, 13 carbs, but 9 are Fiber, zero sugar, and 3 grams of Protein.
The bread is 40 calories, 9 carbs, 3 of which are Fiber, 1 gram of sugar, and 2.5 grams of Protein per slice.
I eat probably on average 1 tortilla or 1 slice of bread a day.
Always follow your plan, just thought I'd show you what I've discovered, through trial and error, that I like and that irks within my guidelines.
