November 2012 Members Post Op
I am only down about 37-38 as well since surgery. I am only losing 2 pounds per week now. I am happy with that but I am also getting really depressed. I didn't lose much less without the surgery. I hope to heaven I am not at the half way mark. I will take a bridge. Lisa, Hope you feel better!

Not interested in food?
It gets better and the hunger does come back. But even now at ten weeks I don't feel like eating most things.

trouble in paradise
Get him involved in the process if you can. Will the Dr speak with him? If not, go to counseling together to discuss the process and why it is good for you. He is afraid. There are so many horror stories out there this may help ease his mind. And I agree with Ranee, tons of support and encouragement.

Maybe not keeping it a secret?
You are not alone!! OH I was so mad at myself. Not that there is anything wrong with the surgery. I was so ashamed I let myself gain back all the weight I had lost over and over again over the years. I only told a my hubby, mom, one person at work and BF prior to the surgery. Now I have only added a few very close friends. My family can stick it. They will tell the world and it is not the world's business. Plus I don't really want to talk about it. I am very sensative and I was scared the negative talk would drive me not to do it. I had to do this for myself and I did it pretty much on my own. My hubby is supportive but it is my journey for me.

I need encouragement and motivation! !
Danni, I ten weeks out and already I am hungry and have a cast Iron stomach. I can eat about anything which is good now but will be bad for me down the road. You are an inspiration to me since I was about 263 on my surgery date. So I know it can be done. I also know that eventually I am going to have to get help because I am weak and struggle with exercise. I know I have to take it one day, even one meal at a time. I know you are frustrated but it is only 8 pounds. Go back to basics and start adding in better habits slowly. Increase Water for a few days, then increase your Protein, then cut back on carbs. I know (even before RNY) I had to weigh myself often and write down what I eat or I go off plan. A lot of us us My Fitness Pal and we support each other there too. I'm worm2872 Good luck! You can do this. Rem. RNY is a tool and you used that tool to lose over 100 pounds!! You had the power to do that. You have the power to get back on track. Good luck

Salad Anyone?
I am ten weeks out and have eaten alll of the components of salad but not an actual salad. I find myself eating the protein and cucumbers or edamame with dressing or wrapping the protein in lettuce. I just don't have the room to eat the salad and get enough protein in.

If One More Person!
"You are not that big"..... I know people are trying to be kind but it almost makes it worse. I was 298 and only 5'5. I am surprised my desk phone was not orbiting me. Please do not humor me since you were the same person that said things like "she has such a pretty face but....." or "it is a shame she has so much potential". I must be having a hormonal mood swing right now. LOL Don't mean to be crabby this just bugs me.

The wings got me hope i didnt hurt myself
Well, it was one wing. I am assuming you chewed it really well. We are human. I just would not make a habit of that early on. I know you won't so just enjoy it and move on. Hope you don't get sick! But I hear you about the 'devil'. I was dying for hot sauce at the begining. I think it was the first condiment I used once I was allowed chicken. Canned chicken and a drop of Red Hot.

Burnt out
I am so sorry to hear that! I hope it does get better for you!!

Cabin Fever anyone else
I did laundry (just didn't lift the baskets), cooked, dishes and dusted the house. I was stir crazy. I also watched a lot of NCIS and Law and Order. I miss it now that I am back at work. How sad.... lol

CEREAL how i miss u
I have had one bowl. My diet plan says I could have cereal if it was soft with milk. I had Special K Protein. It curbed the craving but wasn't the same anymore. I was a cereal junkie.

scared n lost
rgraven319 - We are so much a like. My surgery was 11/19 and I have lost 36 pounds. I am always hungry. I actually ate a big oatmeal cookie on Sunday to see if I would dump and no, I don't. I was hoping this would scare me not to eat it but no such luck. I could eat all day long. I am doing my best not to snack. I do have bites of naughty stuff but it keep my sanity. But I still feel like I am failing.

Dumping :-( *sighs*
All I can say is at the 3-4 week mark for me I was the same way. I lived on yogurt, cheese, crackers (not on plan but they helped my stomach) and only Nectar Chocolate Truffle protein shake. Talk with your Dr. It will pass. It is very frustrating but it is the healing process.

Women and Hormones...
Oh yes... Skin changes, oily hair, mood swings, crying at commercial, more fertile, you name it.... Mine has not been that bad but I can tell I get depressed more easily about my weight.

2nd week post-op stall... NOW I understand how y'all feel. :-(
Your body has just been through a hell of a shock! It is very normal for it to adjust at this point and various other points throughout the process. You are actually doing really well. I am ten weeks out and I have only lost 36 since surgery. Give it time, it will come off! Just keep up the good work.

Cold!
I really hope summer is better for me. I hate summer and sweat like a pig! I always have even when I was thinner. Thanks Dad! LOL

A stricture 2 weeks out?
Well, I had one. My situation was a little different. I had an intestine twist with a staple. It started on day four. They said the same thing to me that it was too early for a stricture and the ER Dr kept thinking I over did it on Thanksgiving. AH NO! Well, I had one. I am too a fast healer (which is a blessing). They did a lot of GI testing on me and when they figured it out, they had to go back in. I was scared to death but I was sooo sick. Nothing would stay down. But I will say this, the minute the surgery was over I felt a lot better. Prayers and Hugs!! You will get through this!!!

So Frustrated with Myself!
You can do it! I fell off the wagon so many times they should have strapped me on it. Just take it day by day and do the best you can. This is a life changing journey that can not be accomplished in a day, a month or even a year. Brush yourself off and tomorrow is a new day!!!

New to this.. Scared to death
I was terrified but I did it. It is normal. I found the more I researched the better I was. I knew what to expect, the good and the bad. Good Luck to you!! I had my surgery the Monday before Thanksgiving. It was interesting....

Where is everyone from?

New To This
I was like you... no one knew my weight. Actually they still don't, friends and family that is. I struggled all of my life. I was always the fat girl on the team at work or the one who shopped for the earrings and shoes. As Music stated, this is our OWN journey. We will be here to support you and give you guidance. You are not alone. I have no idea what I would have done without this board. Unless you have been through this life changing process, you just can't understand. Good luck to you!!!
