  1. I had traces of H-pylori when I had my blood work done, and that postponed my surgery for 4 weeks while I was on antibiotics.
  2. Sparklette replied to punkin's topic in The Gals' Room
I missed my first one. Then the next one started and hasnt really stopped. .. our bodies are full of crazy and it will take a while to become regular again.
  3. They should call with an initial consult appointment with the surgeon, who will check out your history, order blood work, and check your general health, and insurance conditions to see if you're a good candidate for surgery. Then you'll do all your exams which could include, EKG, Blood work, psych, Stress test, upper GI, endoscope. Then they will send it all back to your insurance and then you wait for your approval. Once you hear back you will either be approved or denied. If you are approved they will schedule your surgery, if you're denied then you will have to appeal, or fulfill some more tests, or time allotment, supervised dieting or whatever. Everyone's experience is different, but this is the general timeline that I've seen.
  4. I've lost almost 100 lbs since my surgery and I still can't see it. I see the numbers, I see the inches, but I can't seem to see the loss on my body. It's very frustrating. All I can see sometimes is how much more I have to lose. I can see it in pictures, but looking in the mirror, I just see fat. And now it's time to talk to my therapist, haha.
  5. I take milk of mag once a week(ish). Just to keep things going.
  6. I would look in to your surgery policy and gather the requested information before hand, to help speed it up. Communicate regularly with your pcp, surgeon, and insurance company. Most of all, go in to this with a good attitude and you will do wonderful. Best of Luck.
  7. Stationary bikes, recumbent bikes, steppers. Honestly the best think would be swimming, but I know that time constraints suck.
  8. My surgeon said the same thing. I try to get as much as I can in, then if it isn't enough come night time I have half of a Protein Bar. Dairy products and cheese are good sources of protein, Beans, soy products. I'm really tired of meat also.
  9. Yup, that first bit of solid food is the best!
  10. Add verity to your routine, Your muscles build up resistance after a while, and the work outs hitting those bits get less effective. I would go to a Gym and talk to a trainer.
  11. I'm contemplating cutting my hair also, My hair is long, It falls almost to my butt when it's straightened. It's always been really thick, so the hair loss hasn't been as noticeable to most people, but I'm getting really tired of these strands falling out.
  12. My doc tested my nicotine level the day of surgery. They don't like to operate on smokers because nicotine lowers the body's healing abilities, and with obese people, our bodies already have so many complications, doctors are serious about eliminating as many negative factors as they can.
  13. Welcome. You'll be alright, I mean, you're meeting with a new doctor, might as well get the ball rolling on your new life. Two birds and all. Jump on this opportunity, I know how companies change insurance companies, you can't afford to mess around.
  14. You will feel miserable if you do. DO NOT DO IT! it is a bad mistake. The grease will rip you apart from the inside out. It's not pleasant, Not to mention, you're starting a new lifestyle, so you really want to regress only 5 days out?
  15. I was really apprehensive about jerky after surgery, When I was a kid my mom used to say that Jerky would make you really constipated, and that's on a normal stomach, so I was a little wiggy about it. But I tried it a couple weeks ago, and I chewed a small piece really fine, and It was alright and I had a couple more pieces. I didn't have any problems with it.
  16. On Friday morning, While I was doing my morning walk I thought about this thread. I was walking down the street, and contemplating moving a little faster, moving more of my body, progressing. I picked two points in the road ahead of me, about 100 feet apart, and made a deal with myself. I said "Okay, we're going to run starting on the first point and we're going to make it to that second point." And I considered this idea, the first point coming up as I'm still walking forward, and just said okay. So, I did it, I started running, and it was really weird at first, then I got in to a good rhythm, and it was easy. I went past the second point, and ran until I was out of breath. It was pretty cool actually. I was really proud of myself.
  17. Haha, It's my progress jacket. lol
  18. Alright, so I spliced two pics, one from the surgeon appointment two days before surgery (Right), and one from my Colorado Vacation, on July 1, 2013. About 75lbs, and little over 2 months. This is the first picture "below the neck" That I've posted.
  19. Call your doctor.
  20. Woohoo! First few weeks are the hardest.
  21. Congrats on your pregnancy, though I'm sure it's a bitter sweet thing. I would give you and your baby a few months after the baby is born to heal and grow. I hope you have a wonderful healthy pregnancy.
  22. You just have to be mindful of your Protein intake. I've heard of people getting great results from a vegan/veggie diet. Good luck. And take your Vitamins lol!
