After a lifetime of being fat I've decided to go for RNY. I see my pcp in 3 weeks which is scaring the hell out of me as it my first ever visit with her. My old doc moved to another state. And I moved way out,of town of her partner. I feel weird being this up with someone new but I finally have insurance that will cover this. My company changes every year to save a buck. So I'm super nervous and am desperately praying she'll say yes and all can be done by December. Tall order I know but a girl is dreaming.

Welcome. :)

You'll be alright, I mean, you're meeting with a new doctor, might as well get the ball rolling on your new life. Two birds and all.

Jump on this opportunity, I know how companies change insurance companies, you can't afford to mess around.

Thank you. Don't I know it. Funny I researched this 10 years ago.and was terrified now I feel at peace about it. I hope this goes though quickly and smoothly.

I would look in to your surgery policy and gather the requested information before hand, to help speed it up. Communicate regularly with your pcp, surgeon, and insurance company.

Most of all, go in to this with a good attitude and you will do wonderful. Best of Luck.

Omg I saw her to today and I was prepared to practically beg! All I said was my insurance has a barbaric program and I want to do RNY and she said absolutely we're behind you 100% I was dumbfounded. I broke down in tears of relief I thought she would say no I need to see you like a year or just no. I'm so relieved she's doing the referrals and the letter of necessity. So next step psych evaluation and the surgeon. Pray the insurance Co says yes.

Lol stupid auto correct I just noticed it. Well maybe it's subconscious, I've been actually saying that for over ten years. I still believe it but I think it's the best option for me. Obviously conventional means are an absolute failure.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
