  1. For the first few months post op I had to crush or cut the pills that I could in half, I had a really hard time but it passes after a while. See if you can cut it in half.....
  2. I had the same thing!!! Hurt like heck too. I drank the vitamin waters that had lots of potassium and it went away.
  3. Immediately after surgery, I guess the first 24 hours were bad and that was just due to the pain, I had no nausea or anything like that just pain. I walked a lot which helped with the gas too !!! After the first 24 hours each hour after that I got better and better
  4. I always have a dry mouth even before surgery. When I run or exercise I also chew sugar free gum and that keeps my mouth moist too.
  5. Oh they have changed for sure !!!! I lost my taste for a lot of things and my taste has changed as well. I'm not complaining because its all for the better !
  6. OMG !!! You look FANTASTIC !!! Keep up the good work sweetie
  7. I'm 17 months post op and have eggs, cottage cheese, oatmeal, in the mornings. I'm not a big cereal eater and don't do toast
  8. I know that you don't absorb as much post op so time released meds are not recommended. I had to increase my thyroid meds after surgery and when taking other OTC or RX meds I stay away from time released. I would go with what your surgeon says.
  9. I'm 17 months post op and LOVE my cottage cheese and eat it every day. I also have oatmeal and flavor it with cinnamon. I make a breakfast pie with eggs, veggies and bake it in a pie shell. You can get pretty creative with what you add. I will make a breakfast pie on Sunday and it last me all week, I just put a slice in a container and heat it up when I get to work. You don't necessarily have to eat "breakfast" foods for breakfast, I'm the type of person that can eat anything any time of day so don't restrict yourself to "breakfast only" foods for breakfast... eat what you like when you like
  10. I had cravings but when I would take a taste of what ever I was craving then I did not like it anymore or as long as I tasted it I was OK then. Strange.. but it worked for me.
  11. How cool, good luck. I think by doing this will keep you on track as well
  12. Good question ! From what my surgeon has explained is that the protein shakes are a protein substitute until you can eat regular high protein food. He required 64 grams of protein daily. When I was on liquid and soft foods I was only getting about 10-20 grams of protein daily so I supplemented with protein shakes. Now that I am 18 months post op I get my protein from food but if I don't eat high protein foods on a particular day I will supplement with a protein shake.
  13. Sounds like HE has some issues (insecurity).
  14. I was back to work 7 days after surgery, but everyone is different. I would ask your surgeon !!!!
  15. Good luck on your journey and keep up with the walking.... its benefits you in MANY ways
  16. Eggs are great, lots of protein. For me.... I was on liquids for like 2-3 weeks, then soft mushy food for 3 wks then on to mushy, wet, soft solids. You can ask your surgeon for the meal plan now.....I am sure they will give it to you. Good luck
  17. I would stay away from them since they are a trigger for you to over eat.... look at healthier, less fattening alternatives. This surgery is a tool to help you lose weight the rest depends on what and how much you eat and exercise is key.
  18. I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 days, I did not touch any food and just had a few licks of a ice pop. I did sip, sip, sip, sip, was sore but walking helped so much. You are probably nauseated from the anesthesia which will go away. Maybe ask for something to help with the nausea.
  19. There are good carbs you can eat instead of a DD muffin, you also need to be strong and not give into your cravings. The key and success to this surgery is YOU making healthy choices in food, portion sizes and most of all exercise.
  20. I was back to work in a week.. but everyone heals differently. My recovery time was super fast and I did very well.
  21. Everyone loses in their own time, you may want to start exercising or change up what you currently. Like if you are walking you might want to try a little jog ... something to get you breathing heavy and sweating. I have hit stalls and when I changed up foods and workouts I started losing again. But key is diet and exercise.
  22. I'm 18 months post op and at times I feel the same way..... I'm hungry and then when I eat I get filled up really quick and sometimes just the smell of cooking food make me want to yack !!!
