Four Days Til Liquid Diet
Aww yeah it's a long 2 weeks; but try to keep focus on each day (and it is pretty sweet when you get on the scale before surgery and see the lbs have already started to melt away) this too shall pass

Surgeon Appt
I recently had a revision surgery from Lapband to RNY bypass; I wish I would have gone with the bypass from the start. I had so many issues with my band; granted I did have some success with the band but most of it occurred at a cost of constant vomiting as the band never seemed to be at a good level of restriction for me. I was what I like to call a medically induced bullimoc. I wish you the best of luck with your surgery!

Revision (Band To Bypass)
Hey there, I am a former bandster (lapband surgery 8/2008) recently convered to RNY; I am now 17 days post op and have not experienced any problems as of yet. I had many issues with my band from the get-go which is why it decided to convert to RNY. I did experience some success with the band losing 89 pounds but then I regained about 20 back due to the band slipping slightly. After about a year of another surgeon sending me for a multitude of tests I had enough. So far I'm down about 29 lbs and hoping for a continued path of success. The recovery process for me has been no worse than the recovery process with the band. I think I have learned a lot more this time around about nutrition, about what exactly my body needs to heal and strive. Wishing you both the best of luck on your WLS journey. Crossing my fingers no snags with the insurance companies!

Four Days Til Liquid Diet
Welcome to the board! This really is a great bunch of people; I wish you the best of luck with your surgery! I am 17 days post op from my revision to RNY surgery and am glad I found this board shortly before my surgery. Kelly- as far as pre-op liquid diet; the first few days are rough. I found mixing up the shake flavors kept it interesting. Drink lots of fluids in between shakes as well. For my pre op diet I was allowed to have 2 cups of veggies a day (which helped me a lot) but it all depends on your surgeons pre-op plan. Just try to take it day by day! You can do it! Best of luck.

Just An Update

Still In Hospital
Bernie- I too was kept an extra night due to a low grade fever. But really I was grateful that my surgeon wanted to make sure I was at an optimal condition to be sent home. Sounds like your surgeon has a similar opinion. Looks like you are recovering wonderfully despite the head cold! I do hope you get home soon, there's nothing like your own bed! Keep up the good work. Mary

2 Days Post Op
Glad to hear you ladies made it through ok. I do believe that left side pain is very common, I had it too. My surgeon told me it was because that's where she had to cut through muscle. I'm 8 days post op now and still have some pain but not nearly as bad as it was. Hope your feeling better soon!

4 Days Post Op With Questions
My doctor/nutritionist didn't have me start protein shakes until 5 days post-op. both said to just worry about staying hydrated and keeping down liquids. Mainly because they said they find sometimes the protein is too heavy and runs right through their patients in the first few days post op.

Feeling Lonely And Discouraged :/
I'm so sorry for what you are going through! I really hope you start feeling well again soon. As far as drinking (lol I think it's funny when we stay eating at this stage as the only thing I chew is vitamins, does that count as eating?) I don't always feel like drinking(eating) but know I have to. The last couple of days have been a little easier for me to get drinks down again.. So I hope this is a good sign. I'm sooo nervous about everything I put into my mouth. I hope that gets better as well as I don't want to be afraid of food, I just want to be more controlled about what I eat.

Feeling Lonely And Discouraged :/
I'm sorry your feeling lonely and discouraged. I can imagine how I would feel if I was in your shoes and would probably feel the same. I'm now 7 days post op myself. I initially had the Lapband three years ago but this is a whole new ball game for me! Do you have any kind of hobby that may be able to keep you occupied or maybe something you may want to get into? I find passing the time when your house bound does help. Try to keep your mind active? Prehaps find some good books to read? I know it doesn't help feeling lonely but it may make it easier on you not to think as much! And just remember this too shall pass.. This is a temporary setback to something that will be so great! Keep your head up.

Tomorrow Is The Big Day
Good luck to both of you. Best wishes for quick healing and a speedy recovery

Yogurts Brand
I've never liked yogurt.. But part of that I think is mental for me. I tried it as a kid and didn't like it and have just convinced myself since that I don't like it lol

Puree Food
Thanks do much ladies for taking the time to reply! It's weird since I'm not a newbie to bariatric surgery but this is such a different ball game. I'm so glad I found this board to help me through this journey.., really giving me great ideas for the coming weeks of my recovery. I still don't think I'm going to be making any kind of meat purée lol I think of the jarred baby food meats I used to feed my son and even the smell of them used to make me gag. Vamps- I think it's funny how you say your tastes have changed. Wonder if that will be so for me as well. I'm just hoping to get some variety in the next stage! Trying to stay focused and do the right thing to ensure my body heals well. Thanks again! Anything else you can think of I.e. foods you enjoyed during the purée stage please share away

Puree Food
Yeah I am really scared just moving on to purée food! Did you ever try the canned chicken? When I had my lap band surgery that was like a staple for me! Thanks for the pointers really appreciate the guidance as the RNY is a whole different world.
