  1. I had to share as I'm so darn excited! I had to go dress shopping tonight as a good friend of mine is having her bridal shower this weekend. I've never enjoyed clothes shopping as going into the plus size department was always such a downer; feeling so limited in choices. Well tonight for the first time in a LONG time I shopped in a regular womens store and to my surprise... I bought 2 new dresses both in a size 14. I'm 2 1/2 months out from surgery so this feels incredible as I haven't been this small in my whole adult life!! Thanks for letting me share, I love non scale victories; please share yours here too.
  2. Hey guys-- just got home from shopping for a dress for my friends wedding. This is the first formal gathering I'll be attending since the surgery 6 mos ago. I'm pretty excited So here's me (still about 26 lbs to goal) And here's a before shot with my brother. Sorry I don't have too many full body before shots.

    First Formal Party!

Thank you all for your kind words! I'm very excited for this wedding; only 2 Wks away It's so hard for me to see myself as a "normal" size woman. I still have that larger me image in my head so even in photos sometimes I don't believe that's my body lol
  5. I admittedly have been putting off clothes shopping this entire summer as I've been able to get away with wearing my dresses to work even though they are big they don't look bad (throw on a belt and taa daa ready for work!) Well today it's rainy and ick out here in NYC so I decided I would break out a pair of my dress pants for today. Well I tried on every single pair that I own and every one was insanely huge.. I couldn't get away with wearing any of them. I guess losing 77 lbs will do that?! So it's finally in my face obvious I need to buy some clothes. My question to you guys... I'm Still about 27 lbs to my goal; so what would you buy to wear to work? I'm an executive assistant in the financial district of NYC so I need to look put together but at the same time I don't know if I should go crazy buying clothes at the size I am now! Oh the dilemmas lol.. I guess it's better than having nothing to wear because everything is too tight right?! I just want to feel good in my clothes and today since my outfit is so big; I feel so sloppy and am totally uncomfortable. This whole mental transition for me has been rough, I still have days where in my head I still look 300 lbs! Sorry for the rant, just really trying to get an idea of what you guys are doing when it comes to the ever changing wardrobe size! Thanks for any input Mary

    No Gumbo But..

How far out are you? I'm almost 4 mos out and unless my veggies are pretty mushy I have trouble eating them.

Book To Read Prior To Surgery

My surgeon is one of the authors of that book so I highly reccomend it (of course I'm a bit bias as I loveeee my surgeon)

    An Unexpected Blow

I'm sure we will get there!! Just gotta believe what everyone else sees is the real new us! I have dealt a lot with my insecurity and some days it's worse than others. Just be patient with yourself and know that you have come sooo far! Be proud of yourself girl

    An Unexpected Blow

I'm sure he prob didn't realize.. He probably thought like another poster said that oh, she normally finds pretty stuff there. I know all about those insecurities!! I'm finding the emotional aspect of retraining my brain to see myself as an average size person rather than plus size is far more difficult then the physical changes that have occurred with my body. It's all such a huge learning curve!
