Nasal Gastric Tube ?
Hmmm i've had an NG tube before but, that was when my lapband came out. I didn't have one with gastric bypass. Any idea why they say you'll need one? Are you sure it's not a drainage tube/bulb that was mentioned?

Help
It is possible that as much as you mushed the tilapia that you ate a little faster than your pouch was ready for. Happened to me yesterday with scrambled eggs. I've been able to eat them with no issues but, yesterday I barely got half in when I just knew something wasn't right. I thought I chewed well because I'm so afraid to get sick and I didn't eat what I normally can and sure enough....my pouch had enough and up it came. First time that's happened for me since surgery and I really don't want to do that again. I won't be eating scrambled eggs anytime soon either LOL. Hope you're feeling better. They did mention that pappaya emzines (spelling?) help with digestion. GNC sells them in chewable tablet form.

Am I Crazy?
Yuppers...I"m there with ya. I think it's because we've tried EVERYTHING before we had the surgery. Everything worked for a while but, then failed so it's natural to think this will too. But I have faith in my surgeon who told me....She's never seen it fail for anyone who followed the rules. So I'll continue to follow the rules and pray the weight comes off. I"m a slow loser, always have been so it won't surprise me to see the scale stay the same for a while but, I know it's going to move eventually.

One Piece Of Advice?
Everything above I totally agree with as well as experiment and try LOTS of Protein powders/shakes and other items you'll be able to eat after your surgery. Make sure you have a few options in shakes because your tastebuds change and shakes can be a Godsend in reaching your protein levels. Make sure your surgeon gives you a list of acceptable foods and the stages to eat them in etc. As mentioned everyone is different...don't compare yourself to others and their progress because all of our journeys are very different. It's not a race, it's a life time journey...journey of your own

August 15Th
Get for after your surgery? Protein shake powders, egg beaters, greek yogurt, SF popsicles, SF pudding, anything your bariatric group or surgeon lists on their food list for your first week home.

Breaded Proteins
If it's frozen shrimp I can bet if you let it thaw a bit you could actually pull the breading off. Then you could steam or quickly stir fry (with Pam) and have it that way. If it's the shrimp that tastes strange then maybe it does need to be thrown out. I wouldn't take your chances on seafood. Last think you want is to get sick from it. I can't say we were told to clean our plates but, we were definitely rewarded with sweets - homemade cookies, cakes and other desserts. Hence why they become "comfort food". We all get it from somewhere.....cultures, up-bringing, social obligations etc. We can fix our anatomy with this surgery but, our thoughts need to change as well. Definitely NOT an easy task to do but, it is do-able just takes some work. Constant work LOL

Yippee! Have a safe trip home!

Breaded Proteins
Each bariatric group has different limitations so you'll want to follow what your group recommends for you. I believe most groups thought, prefer our proteins to not be covered in crumbs, crackers, flour etc because they tend to want to keep the carb count pretty low and the protein count high. Best bet is to call your nutritionist or surgeon's office. Good luck!

Pre-Op Appointment!
Hello bekki, I don't recall having any questions at my pre-op visit mainly because I asked them all along from the start. By now you probably already know how long your hospital stay will be and what the post-op diet is going to be etc. If not then that's something you'd want to ask. My surgeon's team had already set up my post-op visits based on the surgery date as well. If you have doubts or concerns about ANYTHING ask now! Good luck!

Feel Like Im Going To Be Sick
I have noticed that if I'm drinking Water and my chair is a little slumped back it doesn't go down as easily as it does when I'm sitting up straight. I had a lot of burping for the first few weeks but, that seems to have eased up as well. Just have to remember they re-routed things in there so there is bound to be air and gases in there as well that need to come out and adjust themselves. It does get better Are you home now?

Im A Month Out How Many Calories Should I Be Comsumig
nannon - you'll read over and over on the boards how every surgery/bariatric group has different requirements or nutritional suggestions. The best bet is to call your group to find out how much Protein they want you to get in. Most groups go by protein vs calories. Men's protein goals are often different from women's as well. My surgeon's main concern is me getting the protein and fluids in. They haven't been concerned about calories yet.

Denied
lovealways...call your surgeon's office. They'll tell you what you'll need to do. The folks in that office that do the billing for the surgeon/bariatric group will know what your specific insurance commonly looks for in order to approve folks for surgery. I was denied denied the first go round but, was approved a month later.

Headaches & Dizziness
Do you take BP meds? I know I do and have to watch it because I've had that issue before when I didn't need the meds anymore and was taking them. I know have a wrist BP machine to monitor it.
-
Headaches & Dizziness
How far out from surgery are you? Have they also monitored your protein and fluid intake?

My Bag Is Packed : )
It's natural to be scared! Any surgery is scary let alone one that changes your organs. You've taken the time to research this surgery, you decided this was best for you....you're going to do great!

What To Know
It's my understanding most folks end up with a drain but, not all. I for one did have a drain but, I also had more extensive surgery because it was a revision from LapBand to RNY. My surgery was on 7/11 and I went home with a drain. That drain came out on the following Monday, July 16th. The surgeon said she wanted to make sure all connections were set and that issues from scarring from my lapband didn't cause issues.
