I'm 5'6", medium frame, weighed about 250 at the beginning of pre-op phase, 228 day of surgery, 13 months later I now weigh 153. I've added a lot of muscle and some of the supplements I take add Water weight. I'd like to get down to 145/140. I'd like to maintain some curves and not get too thin.

At 4 weeks post op I had lost 16 pounds, 216.. Started at 232, I've been toggling between 217 and 216 for about 10 days now.

I believe it! I havent thrown up once...thank goodness! I would rather eat a little less than risk getting sick. I think that the key is chew, chew, chew and eating slow. I put my fork down in between bites.

hey everyone I am 21 years old and I was sleeved on 10/21/2013. I have some pain and some tenderness but I think it's mostly gas (lol). I have a lot of nausea. idk if anyone else experienced this but they found be a good "cocktail" of anti nausea meds. I chew gas-x every few hours. I was told get 4oz of liquid every hour. that's been so hard for me. I have a banding on my tummy to.keep it compressed. (I had severe hiccups after surgery). I am also on obesityhelp.com which I find so helpful so ill try this next

Today it has been exactly four months and nine days since my Sleeve on June 5, 2013. I have lost 88 lbs., 12 Pants Sizes, 2 Shirt Sizes, 1 full Shoe Size and 14 pills! I am so very happy I made this decision. I am amazed at the transformation not just of my body but of the abilities I now have and the goals I have reached.
    BS (Before Sleeve)
I was using a walker to do any walking at all. I could not shower without a shower chair, I could not go shopping in stores without automatic carts, I only left my house to go to the Dr. I could not stand up long enough to cook meals anymore, I had a full time caretaker, I could not clean or do laundry, I didn't drive unless I had too, I could not hold my Grandson because I had no lap, I would not have sexual relations with my husband because it was too un-comfortable and I felt to ugly, I didn't ever have the desire to go visit people, I could not go to parties or out with my friends to socialize at all. I stayed home and moped and honestly just waited for death to come and get me.
    AS (After Sleeve)
I now go to the Mall with my daughter, I go out to lunch with friends, on dates with hubby, I shop, I cook, I clean, I even am working an area for a garden next year. I no longer need a caregiver and was just released from the program yesterday. I no long use a walker or automatic carts, or a shower chair! I only take 3 medications a day. I love to go visit and go to thrift stores and play with and hold my Grandson! I have sex on a semi-regular basis. (I know TMI)
The point is... If you are thinking of having this surgery, Stop Thinking!!!! & Start doing!!!
It took me over 2 1/2 years to get approval so get on it now and then do your thinking while you are in the process. You can always opt out later. I would never take it back, because honestly I never thought I would be a real person again and I had all but given up on life. I am however, a whole person again, a real person, with a real life, and real friends. I am even considering finally going back to work after six years of disability.
I hope this helps anyone in making up their minds and I hope it inspires everyone who reads it.
    Blessings to all,
    Candie

I called the NUT and she said seeing her qualified as a well documented WL program. I had a couple of blank sheets of daily logs for exercise and food journal so I enlarged them at work and made 90 copies to document EVERYTHING! And my 3 months will be up 9/21. I did end up canceling my gastro and pulmo appts till the 3 months are up. Thanks all for the advice. I feel much much better

Yes ma'am but when you have 1/2 cup (there are 3 serving per) it drops it down to 10 grams Protein. I add a Tbsp of protein powder which is 9 grams of protein which make my 1/2 c a 19 gram Protein Drink

One of my favorites too! I still only drink 1/2 c but add 1 Tbsp unflavored Protein Powder to it makes it 19grams of protein! Not bad if its ice cold or blended with ice. mmm glad you found them

JessFinch reacted to gamergirl in Worried about enjoying food after surgery? Don't be.
I've lost 35 lbs since pre-op with lots of stalls. At least 3 stalls that have lasted at least 12 days each. So it's slow but steady. I tell myself that means my skin will bounce back sooner. Who knows if that's true or not?

So if you're worried you won't ever be able to enjoy a vacation again because you can't eat your way through a country, I'm here to tell you that you will.
My husband and I are in Cancun--well Isla Mujeres to be precise, and we have so thoroughly enjoyed our food so far. We are three months post-op.
We tend to get one appetizer and split it for Snacks, and one split entree works for dinner. So far, we have feasted on shrimp tacos (no tortillas), chile relleno filled with chorizo and cheese, grilled lobster tails, omelets with veggies and a side of fruit, shrimp cocktail in the best pico de gallo with guacamole, and our favorite dinner tonight.
We went to Valasquez on the beach and sat outside to watch the sun set into the ocean. The fresh fish of the day was Red Snapper so we decided to do a whole snapper in garlic for both of us. They brought us chips and at first we refused, but then we noticed the pico de gallo and guacamole on the side. We used the chips to scoop them up and this was indeed the best guacamole and pico de gallo of the trip so far! We split the small snapper between us and let me tell you, sitting by the ocean with your love, watching the sun set, enjoying a healthy dinner together? Doesn't suck.
We passed on all the chips and tortillas offered to us. We've each had 1 tsp of rice and Beans at main meals. But really, we're enjoying the fresh seafood and it feels just like the old days, except we're full with a lot less.
So you may not eat as much as before, but if you're like us, we find that we enjoy what we eat as much as we did before. Even more so, because it doesn't come heavily sauced with guilt.
Love my sleeve. I hope this helps some of you who are either worrying about this, or are so close to post-op that you think you will never enjoy food again.

I'm almost 3 weeks postop and am cleared for purees and I've been able to tolerate small bites of roasted chicken that I chew up really good. It goes down well and doesn't hurt. Maybe try that. I start transitioning to regular foods next Friday (25th).
