I'll second Dr. Illan. I posted my entire experience here on VST if you want to check it out but overall, I absolutely wouldn't change a thing about my surgery. He is amazing. Good luck with your choice! I would recommend Dr. Illan to anybody.

I have two special sleeve sisters having surgery tomorrow. Let's join together in prayer and cover their them and all our sleeve family in prayer. God, King of King, Lord of all Lords we honor you tonight with praise. Knowing that each person having WLS and other procedures this week are covered by and through the blood of Jesus. According to your word you said that by your stripes we are healed. Meaning that healing is already taken place. No weapon formed against us shall prosper, we declare that all distractions that attempt to rise up in our minds, body or spirit that they ate castes down into the sea of in forgetfulness. We declare the surgeons instruments are covered in the oil of The Lord. We declare we our made whole and eyes have not seen nor ears heard what you have in store for our bodies. Today I know someone is having WLS. Father order the doctors hand, give him or her a clear mind that he or she make operate with precision and no mistakes. I declare miracles in the healing of every incision down to the smallest stitch. I declare nurses and staff that will do the work and will of The Lord that your name be glorified. Peace beyond understanding for our minds and endurance to our spirits for this is first of the best days of our lives.

The prayer.. Lord we love you and you're Our Father. We can and will do all things through Christ who gives us our strength. We declare that the decision we had made lines up with your will and that you continue to be the healer and helper that your are. Everyone under going surgery or have had surgery will have a steady recovery. We declare no leeks, dehydration, healthy mental attitude, and strength to endure. In Jesus name. Amen :-)

I love God and I love to pray! We all have made a life changing decision to improve our quality and quantity of life. It took a lot of faith to get to this point. Let's lift up each other daily in prayer. Unity in prayer causes miracles.

I'm on day 5 of 14 pre op diet full liquid. Day 1 will be very difficult be prepared. Day 4 it started getting better. Your scale may not move but it's coming. My Protein Shakes which I once loved are des gusting now! Gulp it like peptobismol ummmm once u get to 5 days you start wanting a different taste I got me some hot and sour Soup today from the chi ness rest it's base is broth tell them no meat or beiges or noodles it's yummy and it's something different other than chicken and beef broth. Also have me something to look forward too. Stay busy and watch YouTube videos on people who already did this it will keep you focused hummmm that's all I have

I am pre-op also.. thats alot of sugar...natural but still sugar...

On my pre-op, I wouldn't be allowed a smoothie from Extreme juice.< /p>
I'm allowed 2 Protein smoothies and a lean and green dinner - trying to get in 60 grams of protein.
the NUT in my doctor's office told me this week to have "a couple of blueberries or strawberries in your protein shake" So I asked her, "When you say a couple, are you talking about a 1/4 cup or something like that?" Her response: "Less than a quarter cup." Yeah, that's like 2-3 strawberries - literally A COUPLE.

Was not allowed for me.

Blended and peeled fruit removes the Fiber and strips the nutrients from the mashed fruit. All that is essentiailly left is sugar. Fruti smoothies are marketed as healthy, but are filled with carbs and calories.

I use to eat grapes by the bag full, thinking they were good for me...wrong...I can have 13..thats it..3 strawberries..only a few blueberries..

Remember, what you put on, you will have to take off! Binge eating before surgery is not a good idea, remember the purpose for pre-surg dieting is to reduce the size of your liver (easier procedure) and preparing your body for post-op dieting.
Even though I only needed to diet for 1 week pre-op, I chose to diet for 2 weeks. Dr. Reich told me that my surgery was textbook perfect, i.e. no problems. What's more, my recovery has been a cakewalk - NO nausea, NO vomiting, NO reflux, and NO gas pains!
Do the pre-surge dieting - don't cheat, it makes all the difference between an easy operation/recovery and suffering with the many problems you see posted on this blog.

Update on "I'm starving". I'm five day into my pre-op Protein diet and its getting easier. I stepped on the scales this morning and liked what I saw. From 247 to 238. Yeah, I can do this for sure. I don't know really where the weight lose is unless my earlobes are smaller. Lol! Seriously this is going to be an awesome ride.

My diet is carnation shakes, sugar free Jello and Popsicles. I can't wait for this to be over. I can handle the hunger, but I think right now it's just the fact that I can't have what I want lol. I found my self just sitting and thinking about food and just realized that I need to find more things to do with my time. Only one week left! YAY!
