  1. Hi Loriely; what surgery did you have? You didn't get yolur band re-done did you???
  2. Yes, we do have Liquid Tylenol in Canada but jus the KIDS flavored stuff... Grape I think.. Yukky and an adult has to drink 1/2 the bottle so not very economical. My DH was snoring like a bear with a sinus condition last night, I took a sleeping pill, had my ear plugs in and STILL I could hear the S.O.B. so that's why I was on the computer 3 a.m. (my time) Slept in this a.m. and then hubby made it up to me (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) and brought me coffee in bed. I can't stay mad at him long. :cool2: You';ll be proud of me Janet, I actually went to the gym this a.m. and did a great workout.. Felt good too... I've been working way too much and not making myself a priority!!!! Well have a great night everyone
  3. Since banding, we've been told to stay away from Nsaids ie, Asprin, Motrin, Aleve, Naproxen, Celebrex... and use Tylenol If anyone is interested in a NON pill headache remedy I have a few suggestions: 1) Dr. Ho's Muscle Relaxer T.E.N.S. unit, it treats headaches and pain anywhere else in your body. 2) Accupunture 3) Ice Packs placed on the head for 20 minutes, rotated with hot packs, then finish with ICE pack. 4) Homeopathic remedy that you APPLY to your forehead HEADON... you've see those crazy commercials... and I use it carry it in my purse at all times. It works!:hurray:
  4. Congrats on the great loss... good for you.. looks good on ya
  5. HI Janet; I am seeing the surgeon on Feb 4th and I think we will agree on a Surg. date at that point. It seems like an eternity from now... I just have to sit tight and try not to eat the house. No, I will not have to pay again ... it should all be covered. As the band is obviously faulty &/or damaged in some way. He dosn't want to repair it, but place a whole new band in there. But it means starting over with the 4 week post op diet and then the months of fills.... yuk. I feel stalled, but I knew there were risks, complication rates (albeit low) I am just one of the rare statistics I guess LOL  HOpefully, after surg and recovery I may still make my ANNUAL July11th band date and be at my w/l goal by then.... (fingers crossed) Peaches
  6. Dear Kathy; I am glad you posted. We've been worrying here. My deepest sympathies in the loss of your beloved Father. I know he was very special to you and that you had a wonderful relationship. This will be what comforts you most. (((hugs))) Peaches
  7. ---Quote (Originally by peaches9)--- I am experiencing lost restriction after each of my fills. The restriction lasts for 2-3 days then WHAM empty. My doc says I'll have to have a new band installed as the original is obviously defective... I am anxious to hear if this has happened to anyone else and how you are doing now??? Peaches ---End Quote--- OMG peaches - when - I am so sorry - surgery - it's too fresh in my mind - but heck I love my weight loss so I guess I would go thru it again... You need to post this on our main thread...... Let me know when you are going back in... xoxox Janet ***************
  8. Oh Janet, you always give such good advise.....rock on girlfriend
  9. Morning; TLBC is easy to get to... right on the subway lines. 64 Prince Arther & St. George, one block north of BLOOR and just East of SPADINA... actually you could take the TTC and get off at the Spadina line exit of St. George st. walk less than a block. Or driving ... there is free parking behind the clinic. Did I mention that TLBC looks after its clients for LIFE... not just a year of fills or 5 yrs...... it is the life of the bandster.. something else to consider asking about when you go for your consultations.
  10. Hi great thread... Don't you just LOVE the new look of the boards? I usually hang out on the Lucky 7's board... those of us banded in JULY 07. Its a great gang, but I think I'll like this thread too. I am plugging along, havn't lost that much to date. Waiting for my re-vision surgery date... (my band is leaking saline to I don't know where!) Havn't got any restriction, so most days I am just fighting with my cravings but trying to maitain a healthy varied vegetable included diet...
  11. 25 WW pts = 1250 cals.... its 50 cals per point.
  12. Don't know what just happened to my post??? I wanted to tell Phyll how awesome she looks in those photos!!! You have done very well.. the hard work was worth it. Welcome to the new gals... there's always lots to read and yak about on this thread... Peaches:rolleyes:
  13. Where the heck have you been girl??? WE've missed you... and congrats on the 14lb loss... You have done very well since banding and we are proud of you girl
  14. sounds like a viable option for you... as you are going to have to pay out of pocket for fills anyways in the Soo.... I'd opt for Detroit But good luck in whatever you decide... be sure to PM me when you make your decision. I'd like to know how you made out.
  15. Oh Ladies, I sympathize... this initial few months with multiple adjustments is time consuming and frustrating!!!! WHERE is the WEIGHTLOSS that we were promised!!!???? Oh drat, oh dread! I know that the band is adjustable but I didn't think that this meant that I had to be "adjustable" too in my anticipation! I am 6 mos. since banding and still don't have proper restriction. I just ate 1 cup of Broccoli/cauliflower salad, 4 oz. of Pork Tenderloin for supper. It was delicious. This is WAY more than a bandster should be able to eat, although it is still considerably LESS than what I would have eaten pre-band days... Patience is a virtue.
  16. Are you losing 1 - two pounds per week??? If so, I think your restriction is just fine... its not really recommended to lose faster than that.
  17. Oh PStevens9; You are going to LOVE this part. Dr. Yau at TLBC will NOT charge you to fix your hiatus hernia.... he does this on a routine basis with his lap band patients... Also, call and speak to Kathy or Jill about a consultation.... there is NO fee for that either.. Kathy is the Consult co-ordinator and Jill is the Nutritionist Post-op coordinator... both lovely ladies... Jill can answer questions about what "life" will be like after banding in regards to meal preparation etc. she also plans many Menu seminars and nutritional couseling.. Kathy runs the after care support group which meets monthly (one day time, one night time)
  18. Ya Janet, chuck the stupid thing.... If I had a gun and my scale said I weighed 10 lbs more I'd Shoot it!~~~
  19. Hi there Green; How are you doing today? I know you were a little down about your throat. Have you had any more news? 7 more pounds gone? whoo-hoo for you... that must make you feel good eh? what are your before and after stats now? Take care, Peaches
  20. 1 year support? that is total crap... And frankly, I can't beleive you are still considering this CLINIC (and I use the term loosely) for your lap band proceedure. This IS serious business. Complications DO happen. I know from personal experience as I have a leaking band and am going to have to have re-vision surgery. Dr. Yau has told me that he will replace the ENTIRE band with a new one, not just fix up the leak and send me on my way. I don't know you, but I do care about YOUR success and health. Please, Please do some more research.
  21. If food is getting stuck it does sound like you have restriction, but that perhaps you are eating too fast or too big of bites...?? Could that be the case?
  22. Hi Corletta; If it were me, I'd not put anything on the scars (except soap & water) for 6 wks... to ensure that the tiny wounds are well healed. Myself, I did not feel the need to worry about the scars as in time they all fade to white(I'm caucasion) and I really don't think about it much. Some people though if they are prone to keloids may want to put some kind of sauve on... I'd take the recommendations of the BARIX staff. I am sure they would be well versed on such questions. Best of luck to you in your NEW Life!!! Congrats
  23. I will not deny you your WINE, no not never!!!!:waytogo: I wish your DH luck with his not smoking... that is a tough one. Has he tried Laser Accupunture? I do this therapy at my clinic and it has good results.... OOOh the stock market... ya that's enough to make anyone START smoking... I don't even want to look at it for 6 mos... give the world time to settle down. Enjoy your Sat. night everyone oh, and STEPHANIE welcome to our board and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Just Peachy
  24. Now I didnt' have my Lapband surg. done there. But my Best Friend had her Gastric Bypas (roux-n-y) done there by Dr. Kam or Tam(?) Anyways, I went with her for her pre-op appts and stuff as she had never driven in US before and I was familiar with Detroit area. So away we went and she was THRILLED with the care that she got. Great support and aftercare... the surgeon called her himself months after the proceedure to see how she was doing. She's lost 65 -70 lbs. although she still has some to go and has kinda stalled in the W/L dept. not any fault of theirs or the surgery.... she has just had alot of other issues in her life and has not made her weight loss her priority right now. But I am gonna start kicking her butt.... LOL Are you an insurance Pay lapband? or are you self pay like us Canadians?
  25. what happened to your weight/chart ticker... I really liked that. I am glad that you and DH settled your spat. Oh my, something else we have in common, my DH is military as well and is also very particular about some things... We once had a huge fight about HOW to squeeze the toothpaste!! Can you imagine? I am a tube squeezer and he likes to ROLL his tube up from the end. OMG... who the FLICK cares!!! We now have separate bathrooms... but we can still manage the same bed LOL
