Anyone else out there that had similar situation?? Ideas?? Suggestions?? I know, going for my 5th fill next week - will put me to 9cc's. Inspiration??

Me too, I weighed 192 from October until this week, I hit 189 at the clinic when I went for my fill. I have had 5 fills since my surg in August. I am now at 7 cc.

Earlier this week I ramped up my exercise to 90 minutes daily. I think that's what accounted for the loss. I am going to the gym and doing weights for 45 minutes at 6:00 am then after work I am walking outdoors for 3km. I really hope this is going to work!! Good Luck ladies

I don;t have my band yet, but a friend of mne has lost like 120 lbs in just over a year. Went from a BMI of 47 to being a size 8 (I don;t know her current BMI. Anyway she has since stopped loosing, but she told me that she lost a minimal amount of weight for the first 6 months or so...like maybe 30-40 lbs at best. She said she REALLY started loosing after her band was at a good fill PLUS she said she really had to hype up the exercise. She said she did an hour of tae bo every day...like religiously. for about 4 months and has since slowed to like 3-4 days a week. She attributes her extreme success to her smart eating decisions and relentless exercise. I also had a cousin that had the band and needed to loose about 100-150 lbs and she lost 40 at 6 months and plateaued, a year later she has said that 40 is all she will loose, but she did not put Any effort into an exercise routine. In my research and getting a ton of personal experiences I find a pattern of this type of trend.

Are you guys exercising? Believe me..I realize that an hour of Tae Bo on a daily basis is crazy hard and we did not all get this way by following the Billy Blanks nutrition and exercise plan..LOL, but are you challenging yourself as far as increasing your exercise routine? I know I have done a ton of damage to my body and my muscles are buring about as much fat as a fire in the rain and I know building up my muscles again is going to have to be part of my daily routine.:wink:

I have had many plateaus in the past 2+years since I've been banded. The first time I was wondering what was going on but now I know that when I stop losing for up to two months that my body is just catching up to the weight loss and I keep losing inches. Instead of just going by the scale, go by your measurements as well. I have been measuring myself every 2 weeks since I have been banded because if the weekly weigh in doesn't move, sometimes the inches move.

Having a good fill level will keep the weight off and help you to keep losing but sometimes a plateau is a good thing then all of a sudden, your weight starts moving down again. Don't despair, plateaus happen to everyone.

That's exactly what has happened - I have lost inches, but the scale has been the same since Nov. Thanks for your input - going for a fill in two weeks.....keep your fingers crossed for me !!

I am so against "exercising to the extreme". You can cause tremendous damage to your joints that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes is around 170 calories and vigerously walking doesn't expend that much more,but it does extends the joints putting a lot of stress of them. I would suggest you exercise moderately and reduce the type of food you are eating. Many of us overfill our bands and can only eat mushies stuff which tends to be on the bad side of the food charts such as ice cream, milkshakes, etc. As for what type of exercise, I went to the community gym and was assessed by their counsellors. They have me going to aqua fit for one hour each day. I have no stress on my joints but expend more energy than I would on dry land. Hardest part was getting into a bathing suit at 303 lbs. LOL My point being, pick an exercise you will maintan. Doddie

I agree that plateaus really suck! And they can present eachof us with challenges... especially in the 'mind' department.

As soon as I notice that I am platauing, I start with the negative head talk... which is a killer for me... I have to fight against the neg. voice and remain true to my GOALS,

1) Eat healthier

2) Excersise smartly(like Doddie suggested)

3) Be 'nice' to myself, practice positive self talk each day*mental excersise LOL

4) stick to my Bandsters rules of eating...

If I continue to do all these things and make it my priority, the plateau is bound to break

Donna, just out of curiosity how many fills have you had and how much is in your band presently? :smile:

Good thinking Donna D. I read all the time of individuals increasing the fill more and more and still not making progress. Instead of looking to increase look to decrease. Many long time bandsters I have chatted with tell me they keep a loose fill. Impatience may bring on more problems than just taking your time. Learn how to eat smaller portions, healthy portions and to keep your self moving in a sensible exercise program. I always remember the story about the "turtle and the hare". That's me folks. .85 lbs a week average. I get down sometimes but my Doctors are very encouraging and remind me I didn't put it all on overnight. I think I will start a link about how people find their weight loss. For instance, I start off at the first of the month at a lower weight then I increase in weight and decrease each week.Usually on the fourth week of the month, I decrease to a lower weight that I showed at the start of the previous month. Make sense? It can be pretty depressing sometime but I like to keep track of my weight and watch the pattern on weight loss.

I ate 2 eggs, 1 toast this a.m. and had no trouble... usually I a tight in the mornings, but not today. Am I losing my 1wks restriction already??? YIKES

Peaches I think I have had 5 fills and am at about 5.5. Strange but today I didn't have any trouble with my protein. Go figure. I think I will still go for a very small defil maybe .25 or .35

Went for my fill - lost 5 pounds since November , better than nothing. But I have increased my exercise ! I'll keep plugging along !! Now my total loss is 38 pounds !!!
