Wow. So nice to hear that someone is like myself. I truly feel blessed that I haven't had any trouble with drinking or the small eating I get to do. My pain has only been from gas in the beginning. Everything has just been so simple for me. My doc said there were lots of things in my favor that could've contributed to that. But, when i just keep reading how many are struggling, I just kept thinking is there ANYONE else that doesn't have problems. So, thanks so much for sharing.

I am glad you posted this Pjackson. I was just talking about this with my sister about an hour ago. I had surgery the day after you did, and so far I have had no trouble with anything. I am almost drinking like I used to before surgery. I am still on a full liquid diet, but can have light yogurt, SF pudding and SF Jello. I can easily sit down and eat a 5.3 oz cup of Dannon fit and light greek yogurt in about 7 minutes. I feel full afterwards but doesn't hurt or come back up.
I also can't tell when I am hungry or not. I have this feeling in my tummy all the time like I am on verge a stomach growl, but it never materializes and settles down. It doesn't go away after I eat. IDK... I guees my sleeve and I have just not gotten on the same page yet. So I try to eat based on time, calories, and Protein.
Thank you to all the other posters. Especially the one who explained about differences in swelling. I know heal quickly from surgery. So this could explain a lot. And I am glad to hear that yogurt goes down so much easier than when I advance to dense Protein. I will just keep following my staged eating plan and take it day by day.
    Thanks,
    Bonnie

I have two little 5 lbs dogs, Piper and Trigger, who both like to sit on my lap at the same time. My scale informed me this morning that I lost 30 lbs in 5 weeks. That makes me very happy but it got me thinking- I have lost 6 dogs!!!! I tried to imagine where I could fit 6 dogs on my body at the same time and it made me giggle because the thought is so ridiculous.
Let me know what you have lost.
I am really enjoying this sleeve thing

    caligirl3,
I am curious as well about weight loss timelines. I'm 69 days pre-op and I'm a fact hound. We both understand that each person has their own journey and that we can't compare ourselves to others. We've been thoroughly indoctrinated into the VSG cult. Being curious about other people's timelines isn't a bad thing. This is all interesting information and each sleever is a role model. I shake my fist at the 3 month males on principle... how fair is that? lol At the 6 mo. to 1 year females, I cheer at their success and it brings me hope for my upcoming journey. It's inspiring and you ladies are all muses! And I marvel at the 1-year-and-still-not-there females. Your strength is admirable and encouraging. Seeing your stories prepares me for "the worst" and knowing that you are out there fighting my possible future fight steels my nerves for what may come. I know that if I fall, you'll be there with advice, empathy, a shoulder to cry on and an ear to b**ch at.
My curiosity for this topic isn't a comparison... it's research and I'm thankful you asked. I was thinking of posting a similar topic but was leery of the "DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF!" backlash. Thanks!

I had surgery last Monday. All last week, I had the gas pains and was barely able to get down my liquids. Not because I was in pain, just didn't really want anything. But, this morning I woke up feeling "normal". No gas pain, able to drink normally, still not hungry at all, but, definitely feeling different. Is this normal?

The "sleeve" limits the amount you are able to eat. The better your diet the more you will lose.

I have a very low threshold for pain and I can honestly say that my pain has been very minimal thus far. I was sleeved on Monday. I haven't had ANY pain from incisions and the only pain I really feel is the gas pain. But, it's not awful. I have to admit that today isn't a very good day. I just feel really tired and weak. But, I think that is to be expected. So, anyway, good luck with your surgery and hopefully you will have a good experience as well.

1200 pre op is alot compared to most. How long does your preop last? I slipped on my preop diet as well and I told my surgeon, he laughed and said it was fine. It wasn't going to kill me or anything, just try to do the best that I could.

Janet... You give me hope! My surgery date is Dec. 9th (so I've got six weeks to go)!! I am so nervous about the pain associated with the surgery... on the day of and the days following! Your post was so positive and exciting and it doesn't sound like you experienced much in the way of pain!
How was it for everyone? Did you have pain and do you have a low or high threshold for it?
Congrats again Janet... Continued blessings and success!!!

    [Long Post...]
Perhaps this should be in a Post-Op forum, but when I was considering the Sleeve, I wanted to know what recovery was like, so I'll write a few notes here... I was sleeved Oct 14th in Tj by Dr Garcia, and it was a good experience in Mexico! Hospital was clean, personnel very helpful, Marriott was great. I had a lot of nausea the first 24 hours but it passed. My tummy was really sore but not too painful, and I didn't use a wheelchair at any airport on my way home as I felt I should walk. (I won't repeat details about the first week from an earlier post.)
Now 11 days later, I'm doing good -- I feel almost 'normal' again! It's just been BUSY around here lately: Three days after I got home from Tj, we had company show up for two nights (long-time friends who are like cousins) and then ANOTHER couple arrived who we hadn't seen in years and they stayed three nights! No visitors for months, and we have TWO couples arrive the week after my surgery!!! Crazy.
However, I started feeling a LOT better after that first week, and now I'm amazed that I'm doing so well. It was strange fixing foods for everyone and then eating soups/shakes/yogurt, but I haven't been really hungry and it wasn't too much of a challenge. Altho I'd planned to keep it quiet (just say I had stomach issues so was eating soups), I ended up sharing with both couples what I'd done, and they were supportive and one friend is very interested to learn more. I don't intend to be a commercial for WLS but I'm also not going to hide it, especially if it's someone who might benefit. I'd never heard of the Sleeve a few months ago, until someone told me about it and I started researching, so I want to pay it forward.
Anyway, my tummy is hardly sore at all now, I've been able to zip up my jeans (my tum was too swollen at first), and my energy level is much better every day!
I'm tired of liquids but not in any rush to push my stomach to do more than it's ready for, so I'll take it slow. We went out to dinner last night and I forgot to take anything with me! and the restaurant had NO soup! So I got mashed potatoes & gravy and it was fine. I even treated myself today to a tablespoon of my homemade guacamole -- I just made sure I didn't swallow any lumps or tomatoes. Yum!
I've lost 16 pounds from my starting weight, which is amazing to me cause I haven't seen this weight in YEARS. I can see a difference in my face in the mirror, so it's starting to be real to me. I'm wearing a top today that I bought a year or two ago; it was very snug but I told myself I would lose ten pounds and I'd wear it... Never did until today!!
So -- for me -- the first couple of days were nauseating & sore, the first week was tender & slow, but every day since then has been an improvement! If you're getting ready for the Sleeve, be prepared but know that "this too shall pass" and you'll soon be feeling good and looking forward to being slimmer & healthier for the rest of your life!
    I am. :-)

When I was still relying on my Protein Shakes, I made my own as well. One of my faves was almond milk, skim milk, one or two scoops of unflavored Unjury Protein powder, a little bit of Torani chocolate Syrup (no fat/no sugar), and lots of ice. It tasted like an almond joy. I would also do almond milk, skim milk, a drop of Peanut Butter, and about 1/4 of a small banana. It was the easiest way for me to get in my protein. They were so good my daughter even liked them! I'm glad you found something you like as well!
