MY Mother Said...........
In my family you don't ask for help. It's weak. But I'm so sad and depressed that It's time I step up and accept any kind of help I can get.

Your "last" meal...
All post banders....Do you feel food is no longer center stage? I've been thinking about and eatting foods I won't be able to eat after. Like a farewell to my faithful companion. Do you really think food is enjoyed more since you eat it slower?

MY Mother Said...........
Well, I couldn't keep lips from flapping. I TOLD MY MOTHER................The Master of negativity and bestower of self-doubt. She thinks getting the lap band is taking the easy way out......is lazy..........is not being able to commit.......is not having discipline. Get some discipline and stop putting that no good food in your mouth...........Say to your self "I will only eat this salad" "I will not eat that piece of chocolate cake" The band is a crutch. She just recently stopped smoking throught Laser Therapy(it has worked) and has replaced smoking with........ can you guess? Thats right... eatting. Where's her discipline? That women has some kind of hold on me, so now I'm second quessing and have an argument going on inside my head. It's like a ping pong game.

How do you feel about kids banded?
Hows getting banded going to help kids who sneak food? Or kids who only eat what they want to eat? And hows the parent banding a 400lb kid going to help, when they didn't know how to kept the kid from getting so over weight in the first place?

How do you feel about kids banded?
I totally agree with this being a quik fix world. I believe 75% of all over weight people have head issuses. The other 25% make honestly bad food choices. I personally have a lot of knowlegde of good nutrition and excersise. I just can't seem to apply it. These young kids need help emotionally, mentally and physically. If I had this kind of help when I was young I wouldn't be where I am today. We need to ask WHY is this 12yr old so heavy? My own DD was having eatting issues. She would eat just 'cause it "tasted good". I realized I was putting my problems on her Telling her to not eat this or that cause it'll make her fat, or "do you want to be fat like me". All she needed was for me to back off, give her an extra hug. I made sure she did active things like softball, bike riding and now she's 11yr old and loves to skateboard. And eats only till satisfied. I need to be more like her! I think A to Z needs to be done for these young people before their given the message that FOOD alone is making them fat. As a parent it's your responsibilty to help them. Not hand them over to someone eles to fix. Their going to be left with a silicone band to hug away their REAL problems? I would refuse to band any one under 20yrs. If I had a 400lb 16 yr old, I'd turn my self in for child abuse. Letting your child get that heavy IS abuse. The parents must need help, too.

Where's all this stuck food?????
I have this "How It's Done" go to www.belighter.comclick "lap Band" than click "how it's done" I do have another one, it's on another MX Dr's website. I'll look for it. I'm thinking theres pressure being put on the very end of your esophagus(sp?), when you eat too much and that is what gives you the golf ball feeling?? The acid reflux thing scears me. I read it can be a sigh of slippage and I just what to know "why" it happens, so I can prevent, maybe.
-
Is it really possible???
Jenna thats great!!! That would normally take someone 5-10 weeks. You did good girl!

Where's all this stuck food?????
I'm a little confused....thats really nothing new, but anyway.. Where does the food get stuck? And what is the "stoma"? Do you fell the golf ball thing where your little tummy is? Your stomach acids are at the bottom, right. If so how is the food breaking down in the little pouch? Does your stomach make acid constantly? The whole acid reflux thing is really bothering me. I've had it twice, in the middle of the night, I burped and felt this burning and I couldnt breath. It really freaked me out.

Relationships after Banding
I get all that your saying. Thechatrooper asked about possessiveness and jealousy. I know my attitude will change for sure when I lose weight, but if my DH starts getting jealous, what does that mean? What, wasn't I worth it before? And you know what, know one is bitchy ALL the time. And if your s/o nows you feel bad about your weight then maybe HE or SHE should make more of an effort to make you feel special and beautiful. I only love you and appreciate you when your happy? I want to be loved when I'm sick, grouchy, mad, sad, fat, skinny, bald, pmsing, going through menapause, yelling, crying, rich or poor!!! Am I asking for too much?? It all does come down to how your relationship is NOW, that'll tell the future.

Relationships after Banding
I know were your coming from.....I felt the same way. Past tense!! First of all, I can't let myself worry about something that might or might not happen. I'll be sad and dissappointed in my DH if he acts more attentive when I lose the weight. And it sucks that some people don't show appreciation for those they(suppose to) love until they think they might loss them. If your friends BF is all over her and is now getting possesive, then maybe he wasn't into her for who she is, and thats shallow of him.I personally wouldn't feel extra special if my DH/BF started paying more attention to after I lost weight, I'd sock him in the nose and leave. Try talking to your BF about how you feel. Are you happy with the way he treats you now? Is he loving and attentive? Do you feel neglected? Lossing weight will only take what issues ready there and bring them to the surface. Sit down and have a heart to heart talk with him. Good Luck and things will turn out great for you...!

How do you get fiber in your diet?
Some times I'll eat oatmeal cooked w/ a couple prunes. Makes it real sweet w/o using sugar. A apple at night, does the trick every time. try aloe vera gel caps, sooo good for a good cleaning "out" Alfalfa pills....so good for Water retention and again "good cleaning out" you fill 5-10lbs lighter after these. But these are big, you would have to cut in half. My midwife gave me these when my feet had some puffiness. How about sprinkling a little ground flax seed on your food. or in your shakes. on salads, in your cooked oatmeal.... Good Luck with your smoooth sailing.

Wow! Thats really amazing! You look great. I can see a difference in your thighs in the after picture. They look good, too. Maybe you won't need a thigh lift.

If you don't have acid reflux before banding, can you get it after? Am I hijacking?

Reaction from others
I'd rather not tell anyone, but one sister lives on my block. One around the block. One sister and Mother 5 minutes away. On top of that My hubby works w/ 2 brother-in-laws. AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!Please everyone stand back I need to breath!!!!
-
Reaction from others
Has anyone ever been scared to tell someone who is naturally thin, about themselves getting the band? Or have you told and what was the reaction? I know I shouldn't care what others think of me or base my worth by what they think. And I bet people will be more understanding then you think they will. I'm getting closer to being banded, I'm down to my last $$ option now. As soon I hear the words "the check is in the mail", I'm calling MX and making a date.

YOU KNOW YOUR "FAT" WHEN.............
Roxanna, YOUR KILLING ME!! How 'bout when you can't wipe yourself, in a pubic toilet, 'cause you can't spread your legs. Or getting caught in the stall between the door and the wall. Or opening doors before your hand even has a chance to reach for the handle... I'm going to miss closing my kitchen drawers just by turning around....swosh, look no hands
