  1. Lot;s of research,,LOTS. I was having the same questions in my mind. I personally communicated with dr.s on both coast., as well as my chosen surgeon. To my suprise, both surgeons contacted me personally. The one that push ME over the top for bypass was here. Awesome . Only wish I was on the left coast. Bariatric Surgery by Julie Ellner, M.D., Gastric Bypass vs. Lap Band It is a decision we all have to make, we are each our own best judge. Study, read, and pray if you wish. I am totally stoked on my decision ..I have jumped thru all the hoops..now waiting for a date, at any time now. Good luck. ken

  7. thanks for the reply..you are a motivation for me. I too, dont snack, but just eat to much at meal time. Starbucks, is going to be a tough one for me, but I have realized that the 'mental' strength, is just as important as the band , in reducing one's weight. keep up the good work. peace..KEN

  11. hi...I have been mostly a lurker...but have my consultation on Monday. I will be self payer, since my dang insurance is a no-no. I have read about 40 miles, sometimes 45 miles, folks using the litlle graph. Is this a standard exercise most Dr. recommend? do you start before surgery>>. I Cant find it on any thread. Thanks, and I look forward to being a 'bandster' very soon. Ken :help:
  12. hi BigHarleyGuy, good luck with the banding. I am actually in Covington, I put down N.O. since most folks know of it. I am talking with DR. Lavin'x office at the moment...will know more next week. Peace..Ken
  13. HI Y'all.... Well...I did it..made an call to the local dr. for a consultation for a banding. I was introduce to this site by a new friend that is getting the procedure in a week or so. I have been lurking around for a week or so... Like most that I read...I am just tired of fighting the diet battle...I know I should do more exercise, etc... I am excited about the possiblities, and am going to give it shot if I meet all the criteria. I have enjoyed reading the helpful comments made by all those who offer help to others. Please start your prayers for me, and I am sure you will see lots of silly, need help, type of questions from me soon. All the best.. Ken 'bigguy'...I HATE BEING CALLED BIG GUY,,so I used it as my name here, for the movivational purposes...it will remind me whenever I log on...why I am here, doing this, I know it might seen wierd...but it is the way my silly brain operates.
