ShrinkyDinkMe101 reacted to Sassygirl06 in 2 years ago I changed my life with the sleeve!
My two year surgiversery came and went and I didn't even realize it! food no longer controls my life! I don't constantly think, dream or live for food! I have reached my goal, and I love it! I will be completing my journey next month by having two plastics surgeries. First I will be having a Tummy Tuck to remove my apron that started by having my beautiful children, and was made worse by becoming morbidly obese. The second will be a breast lift with implants to get the girls back.
My only regret still remains that I did not get the sleeve sooner. This is a gift...the best one I could have ever done for myself and my family. I am healthier, happier....and stronger because of my sleeve! I will be posting more befores and afters once my surgeries are complete.
Good luck to all that are planning, or contemplating this surgery.
I have lost more then 140 pounds...and I will NEVER go back to that girl again....thanks to my sleeve!

Tell you what. At five years out (and 10 and 15 and etc...mother nature willing...), I will still be rocking this emeffing sleeve. No WAY I'm cutting out most of my stomach then just being a recidivist fat chick. I mean: NO. WAY. Stats can suck it.
ETA: I never lost my hunger anyhow, so I've had to learn to cope with that being present the entire process. So meh.
EATA: OMG, that is my bariatric clinic being quoted...! They are experts in this procedure, but I normally only see them quoted in academic literature...

A few years ago I finally found an exercise I love (tennis) and kept getting injuries. Final straw was getting overheated on the tennis court and not being able to cool off because of the 100 lbs of "insulation" I've been carrying around. I just got completely fed up! My parents have high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea & one has had a stroke at 57. My husband told me a few years back that he was no longer attracted to me and my preteen daughter has started making remarks about my weight. I think I just had the "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" switch flip. My friends are very supportive and so far I'm really loving this surgery!

Haha! I remember before surgery I told my nut that I will never do the purée stage that my doctor had in his progression guidelines!
"I will just stay with shakes malt o meal and such" I said! First day I was allowed "real" food albeit blended? I was a blending fool! chicken and gravy! Meatloaf gravy and watery mashed potatoes! I ate it and I LOVED it

I slept in my bed from day 1 with 3 pillows. I slept just fine! Week 2 I slept on my side with a pillow under my tummy and that was wonderful. No problems sleeping for me!

I'm almost one month out...I don't feel any restriction from liquids. I also don't feel restriction from yogurt. But, I definitely feel restriction when I eat my soft foods. I can only eat about 2-3 oz at a time.

I think you have been amazingly successful! First a huge weight loss, while staying in school and preparing for a better life / long term career puts you in the "winner!" column. Yes, you are living in bad situation, and you are missing having supportive people around you, and that can feel overwhelming at times. Be glad that you are past the bad relationship, and that you have a bright future ahead of you. Your feelings are temporary and your other challenges can be fixed! Hang in there, finish your degree and the world will be yours for the taking! You might check into counseling services at your school. Most schools have people available to assist with the emotional bumps in the road!

I'd avoid anything north of Admiral, east of Mingo (above 51st), and west of the river (above 51st). The area west of Southern Hills Country Club is pretty bad. Hip areas include Brookside, Downtown, Cherry Street (15th Street), and the Pearl District. In suburban areas, midtown has more crime than far southern areas. You can get just about anywhere in town in 20 minutes. I love Tulsa!

I have to share this recipe. My dh made me pumpkin and blue cheese Soup. It was amazing. Perfect texture and great flavor.
He just softened pumpkin within garlic and onion. Then added 4 cups of chicken stock. And boiled.
He drained the stick and puréed the veg with 6 slices of cooked crisp bacon. Added it to the stock
He continued cooking and then melted 1/2 Cup of Gorgonzola cheese into it. It was amazeballs. I've been eating it for two days now!
Try it. It really was wonderful!

Here's what I do: you know that 90% of the enjoyment in food is actually in the smell. That's why people who lose their sense of smell get really thin, because they can't smell food anymore.
When I gave up sugar years ago, I learned that just because something smells good, doesn't mean I have to stuff it in my face. I learned to bask in the smell, roll around in it, and get my enjoyment from that.
I have lovely memories of brownies, Cookies, cakes. I think of them like an old lover. It was fun while it lasted, but I certainly don't want it inside me again!
