I was sleeved April 20. In addition to what you listed: Protein Soup (ProtiDiet), V8, protein pudding, applesauce, green Beans, yogurt, refried beans and cheese. This week I get to add soft fish so I had some grilled salmon tonight at a cookout.

I had mini bypass 4/23. Right now I pretty much hate all food. Nothing sounds good and I'm struggling to get anything in. I tried 1 scrambled egg with some cheese for the first time tonight. Besides that I eat yogurt, cottage cheese, Peanut Butter and my favorite right now is blended chicken noodle Soup. Iv also had mashed potatoes and steamed carrots that were good. I'm thinking I'll try to add some runny refried Beans later in the week. I had a few saltine crackers today with butter and just more less turned them into paste in my mouth to keep from throwing up and they helped a lot. I'm on antibiotics for pneumonia that I developed in both lungs after surgery and they make me very sick which is making everything much harder for me.

I started Week 3 on Wed. My surgery was 4/22! I'm eating deli chicken meat, cheese, pickles, carrots, oatmeal/cream of wheat, eggs, pickled herring in wine sauce (my favorite)!! and tonight is chicken and cheese enchilada light Soup. I can only eat about 4-5 bites of food at a time and I have to chew it up super well but most things are going down great. Unfortunately this soup isn't going down well. swallowed some chicken and little piece of green pepper in the soup and now i'm scared it's gonna hurt alot. Uff. Anyways most everything is going well! Only problem I had was busted a hematoma under an incision a week ago so that is healing slower than the rest of my incisions.

Surgery went great ! I went back to work Tuesday last week, I have zero energy and zero appetite so it's really hard right now getting in Fluid and Proteins. I know the first month is the hardest but honestly having had 2 prior surgeries It's a lot worse than I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, surgery wise and recovery I couldn't be better ! This struggle is all emotional

My heart completely breaks for you all of you really going through what she's going through. There's not one person who's had the gastric bypass that will tell you this is not normal. I am almost 6 months out and down 100 pounds and I still cannot say I have no regrets. But what I can say is I was taking 11 pills a day and now I take none. I can say that I dropped eight sizes and I can walk anywhere and I can fit in a booth and my health has drastically improved. I know it's hard right now but you have to focus on the reason why you had surgery. Instead of focusing on how you feel right this very second because I tell you the truth three months from now you will feel differently. And you think three months is going to take forever I tell you the truth when I say that I feel like I just had my surgery this morning and I'm already six months out that's how fast time flies. Continue to vent continue to acknowledge what ever you're feeling when you're feeling it that's healthy that's what this forum is for. But I promise that this is temporary you will get through this.

thank you, i stand corrected, i have since learned that there are indeed some reputable docs doing resleeves... mainly of original sleeves done poorly. and i agree with you that what i probably well do is a MGB
thank you for your kindness and information

Wow, so sorry to hear about your experience. Dr. Almanza didn't even make my list when deciding on a surgeon, I didn't even need five mins of researching to know he was never to be considered. Unfortunately many others have also spoke of bad experiences with him. I'm always amazed when I see that people continue to schedule with him because of his prices. That being said, it doesn't mean that "resleeving" isn't a real thing or isn't an option for some. It is. I did extensive research for months and months looking to have it done myself. If your sleeve is large enough, a resleeving can correct it and put you back on the weight loss track but choice of surgeon is everything ! The only one I would trust to do it is Dr. Wilhmey. I however decided that if a sleeve can stretch once it can stretch again and went with a revision to a Mini bypass with Dr. Rodriguez. He took my small intestines and brought it right up to my existing sleeve a few inches from the top giving me a smaller pouch and also some (but not too much) malabsorption. Dr. Rodriguez doesn't believe in resleeveing because he doesn't think it will give the same results as the first time as your body is already used to restrictive procedures at that point. So far I'm very happy, my recover has been great (I did get dehydrated and pneumonia in both lungs) but bounced back very quickly. I don't know if you're looking for other options but I don't know why the MGB wouldn't work for you as well. Just a thought...

I started week 3 on Tuesday. I am still drinking one Protein shake per day to make my minimum Protein requirements. Other than that, I have been eating cottage cheese, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, cream of chicken Soup, cream of potato Soup, Greek yogurt and egg whites. If I am low on protein, I will also drink 1/2 cup of beef consomme' as it has 5 grams of protein in it. I am looking forward to adding some fish and such in starting a week from Sunday!
As for how often, it seems like I have to eat/drink non-stop to get near my requirements in. It is definitely a full-time job.

I am. I am eating soft foods. Lots of egg whites, tuna, low fat yogurt. It's getting better. If I can chew it up real goid I eat it. I love the jennie-o Breakfast turkey sausage. I use a little bit of it (less than an oz) and mix in a couple of egg whites and scramble them up. Yummm!!

I had surgery Thursday, I let it go till Tuesday then took Miralax with a little grape juice and it worked in about an hour. I make sure I go at least every other day now or take Miralax. Too many horror stories out there about impacted bowels for me! If you haven't went, get something quick! It's not something to be taken lightly! I would NEVER go longer than 4 or 5 days without taking something.

If anyone has seen my other posts, you know this is my 3rd weight loss surgery. Lapband/Sleeve and then Mini bypass on 4/23. I don't know why but this time is SO much harder !! I have zero energy, zero appetite, I'm struggling with Fluid and Protein, and I just don't feel like myself anymore ! I'm depressed and I'm just miserable all the time and feel like I just want my life back !! I know obviously all this can be pretty normal, I just needed to vent it to others who can understand ! Thanks for listening

Band07, you have the right idea too. Just keep the small meals frequent, every one to two hours if your only doing a couple ounces right now. Remember, you have to make that new stomach work or it will never learn and eating will continue to be really hard. Take it slow, see how you feel after each bite but, really make that effort to eat because, you don't want to rely on shakes too much, your body and stomach want food. I really felt much better once I was off shakes and got all I needed from actual foods and my Vitamins ofcorse! Even just two months out, I can tell the difference in the way my pouch is handling food and the scar tissue isn't so terribly tight anymore. Good luck to you both!

I'm in my 7th month. I've lost 90 pounds since I went on the liquid diet. I have had about 30 seconds of regret - it is always followed by a massive dose of gratitude that I'm not carrying around a massive amount of weight that I could not lift. It isn't easy, that's for sure. I could always stand to eat a whole pizza or a half box of Pasta. But I have come to love a whole new set of foods. I try to focus on how much better I feel. I'm off my metformin, and my blood pressure meds are cut in half. My life is different in every way. Please focus on the good stuff. It will get better. Keep going.

    Band 07 and Jennifer
I had my RNY on Good Friday. I have been sick everyday for a whole month. During my first week check-up I had lose 14 pounds. The next week I was dizzy, exhausted, constipated, I was waiting for the new found energy. I was in the hospital for 5 days for dehydration.
I was stuck in every spot in my arm looking for a vein for the IV and to get blood(one time I was stuck 8 times, because the IV came out ). I never realized it was so hard to drink Water.Eat and take pills wait 30 mins..drink Water . Lets not even talk about attempting to get in all the Protein.
I have also had my times when I cry and feel depressed. I guess I just needed to vent .
Hopefully, we'll be feeling better soon and start to enjoy our journey.

I had the RNY on 04/13/15. My doctor set all the right expectations for someone who hasn't actually had the surgery. My expectations were off because my friend had her RNY in August 2014 and she was back to work in 4 days. I planned on giving myself 2 weeks. Now 3 weeks post-surgery and I'm still home.
I have had severe fatigue, dizziness, nausea and trouble with hydration and Protein. I was told 64 oz of Fluid, but I've found to maximize my energy and avoid dehydration associated nausea and vomiting, I actually need 80oz per day. The first few soft things I tried did not stay down. I can't eat eggs at all. I've had no hunger at all (or cravings, yay!), so I had to pay attention to my body for other signs. My indigestion that isn't resolved with Water is my new hungry. I still haven't figured out what full feels like yet, so I eat very little. I figure it will come with time. I am starting to get some of my energy back, but I do get exhausted after just a couple hours of any activity - Church, grocery store, etc. - regardless of the intensity level.
The point: Everyone is different, and no one's journey will be exactly the same. The wonderful dietitian at the clinic described the food progression as an experiment. It was a very apt description.
I have had a couple of "Why did I do this?" teary-eyed moments, and I expect I'll have more. However, I wouldn't change it. Despite the fatigue, I'm already feeling better about myself.
Good luck! Keep us posted, and I hope things go well for you moving forward.
