  1. I had reflux for years before banding at age 19 was put on meds 1 week after band my doc said if you dont need it dont take it, I havent taken anything since!
  2. Glad your getting better, I got the stomach flu 5 days post op and my band was fine, scared the crap out of me enough to take an ambulance to the hospital but all is well, good luck!
  3. I love that, "my band is possessed" gave me the best laugh. Anyway my band is possessed to some times it says Ok you can pass, other times it says I dont think so and heres some slime so you dont try that again!
  4. I was banded June 15th and not to disappoint you but I have just found "restriction" my last fill that was 4 weeks ago. Before that I was able to tolerate everything, now I feel the difference and the weight is coming off more effortlessly, I eat but I am not hungery between meals, bad foods like doughnuts, bread, cookies, ect do not go down well. It only took a couple pb's for me to get it. I still eat things I know I shouldnt but feel that the real battle is in my head not my stomach, hang in there and you'll work your way through we are all so much different some say after their first fill they had restriction and then theres me, going today for #4 hoping this will be the "sweet" spot! Good luck all.
  5. My Doc is very conservative clears the day of fill and day after then full ligs for 2 days, I never make it. I usually just add soft then reg, havent had any trouble.
  6. I dont think it's silly but hard for the doc to measure, I just got my third I am up to 2cc and am still looking for that "sweet spot"
  7. The thing that stinks is cravings are always going to be there. When I PMS it is the worst, I can eat. My Doc reminds me that the band is not going to make me feel full it is going to make me not feel hunger. When I crave something I am not hungry, I just want it! Does that make sense? Needless to say I try to distract myself, sometimes it works most times it doesnt so, I cave in to my cravings but in small amounts. I am a pizza addict. I used to be able to eat 4 slices, now I have one. So I guess you just have to do whats right for you. I feel good and have lost 30 pounds, just hit the 180's so life is good. Good luck!
  8. I havent found that sweet spot I have 1cc in my 4 cc band the center that I go to told me that people dont feel restricted until 2-3 fills, for my doc this would be 1.5-2cc, I cant wait my second fill is monday an dI need it! Hang in there
  9. I personally would rather see an overweight person at the gym rather than destroying their life at a restaurant or other place. Who cares, you are doing this for you not them, right?
  10. serinity I hear your frustration I was banded June 15 and have had one fill, I eat "normal" I dont feel restricted and I dont have any food intolerances occasionally I swallow before chewing good and get that stuck feeling. I am looking forward to monday thats my appointment for my second fill. I have been reading through and I think that it's clear that everyone is so much different. I havent eaten 5 burgers but I have eaten pizza, chinese, all the bad spots that I was hoping not to crave anymore. What I do however is try. I try to order a better choice like we stopped at BK and my daughter just wanted fries so we got the whopper jr meal, I ate the sandwich and she had the fries, I opted for no cheese. Just little things at least it's better than were I was. I have lost 21 pounds not great but not bad. hang in there and keep your eyes focused on the prize, a longer healthier life! Good luck everyone.
  11. I am so glad I read this tread Tracy hit the nail on the head for me. I have 1cc in my band and could eat anything, I want restriction but I keep telling myself it took years to put all this weight on and now I am 21 pounds lighter since June, more than I would have been without the band. I go for a fill on Monday (cant wait). We all are hear for the same reason and none of us are perfect or we wouldnt be here, I think we all deserve a pat on the back just for being banded! Yeah us!
  12. not from maine but you neighbor from NH email me anytime jchase34@metrocast.net I was banded in June been a little slow going for me but second fill on monday, I cant wait, where in maine my hubby is from northern. Anyway good luck and keep in touch!
  13. I have a 4cc band and have only had one fill and honestly if I didnt have the scars I wouldnt guess that I had surgery at all. Monday I get another fill and I am hoping that this will help. I dread going to my appointment with only a two pound loss but thats why I did this, I often tell myself, "you have a eating disorder, duh" Well hang in there, I am sure if you go to your appointments and work with your doc it will all fall in to place.
  14. I am, now dont get me wrong I buy the light oatmeal bread and cut the crust off (never liked crust) then I either have a little chicken salad or two pieces of turkey and some light mayo, I do not snack. I have 1cc in my band, I have lost 18.5 lbs and just went under 200. What I have been doing is exercise and making good choices. My surgeon said, "thats what this is about, giving you the tool you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle." If I loss 2 pounds a week I'm happy, kinda scared about loss skin and stuff
  15. the chocolate calcium is the best sugar free and walmart makes a brand, like a treat twice a day. I have 1cc and have been losing slowly but I too would like to try to get by on as little fill as possible because I still enjoy food!
