Have you ever had 0.1cc adjustment??

Recommended Posts

I feel like I'm almost at my sweet spot. Last fill was 0.5 and was too much so she took out 0.3cc. I am getting hungry between meals and feel like my restriction could be a little better.

Would it be silly of me to ask for a 0.1cc fill??

I'm at 1.8. I'm going This Thursday for my 2nd fill

with this doctor. I don't think I've lost anything and its

pretty frustrating. I guess I have to be patient and hope

to get to my sweet spot soon.

I haven't but I wouldn't hesitate to. I haven't had a fill in a while, but I went to 0.25cc at a time. For me, 0.5cc is the difference between wide open and completely closed.

I WANTED to.. but the nurse told me I wouldn't feel a difference with 0.1cc, so recommended 0.2cc. I was getting that amount removed, and it definitely helped... but I wish I'd just gotten the 0.1cc. I have to travel quite a distance for fills, so I didn't want to risk still being too tight after have that little of an amount removed.

I'd say go for it.

This may help you in understanding the restrictive mechanism of a Lap-Band. The INAMED protocol for Lap-Band fills calls for a six-week delay after surgery, prior to any fills. The purpose for the six-week delay is for the patient’s stomach to heal from the surgery, as well as allowing time for the Lap-Band to “Seat” or “Nestle” into the fat pad between the stomach wall and the interior wall of the Lap-Band. Prior to receiving an EFFECTIVE fill, it is VERY uncommon to have any restriction from a Lap-Band. Some patients will NOT lose weight, or may even GAIN weight until they have received an effective fill in their Lap-Band. Normal weight loss with a properly restricted Lap-Band is between 1 and 2 pounds per week.

The normal cycle of fills, restriction and weight loss is as follows:

1. The patient's Lap-Band constricts when the patient receives a fill. Swelling for a few days after receiving a fill is very common. Many doctors require a patient to go on a liquid diet for a day or two after receiving a fill. A fill may have a “Delayed Action” of up to two weeks. A “Delayed-Action” means that the fill may not become effective for up to two weeks after the fill. That is why the INAMED protocol states that fills should not be performed on patients who will not have access to medical care for at least two weeks after a fill.

2. The patient's stomach capacity is lessened as a result of the restriction caused by the Lap-Band.

3. The patient loses weight because they cannot eat as much food.

4. The residual fat-pad between the inside of the Lap-Band and the outside of the patient's stomach reduces in size because of the overall weight loss in the patient.

5. The reduction of the residual fat-pad causes the Lap-Band to become loose again.

6. At that point, the patient needs another fill, because the Lap-Band is loose, and the patient has a loss of restriction, which allows the patient to eat larger amounts of food.< /span>

7. The patient receives another fill and the process starts all over again.

Most Lap-Band patients receive several fills to adjust the Lap-Band as their weight loss progresses, and there is less and less residual fat-pad between the inside of the Lap-Band and the exterior of the stomach wall. Once a patient has lost all of their residual fat-pad, fills become less common. As the Lap-Band patient progresses in their weight loss, the effect of very tiny fills (Less than .2ccs) becomes greater and greater. It is not uncommon for a late-stage Lap-Band patient to experience a significant difference in restriction with as little as .05cc of fill.

now that I re-read my post, I lied. 0.25cc made the difference, not 0.5. At 2.5 I was open, and at 3 I was shut to the point that saliva couldn't pass. I'm now at 2.75. When I'm in need of anotehr fill, I will probably ask them to halve the difference between 2.75 and 3.

Thanks ya'll.....that is so very helpful!! I thought I was nuts to think that at 2.3 I could almost eat anything and 2.5 I was way too tight. I'm going to ask for 0.1 and if she (the nurse) thinks I'm nuts then I'm going to insist on a fluro to see what is going on.

No I had 2 put in during surgery. Then at 6 weeks got .5. After my first fill I got progressively tighter. Today my doctor was like wow look how much you lost and I said um mm yeah I dont hardly eat. He took out .25. OMG I feel so much better and I can eat Protein again. Everyone is different. a tiny bit makes a difference in some.He said call him next week he was willing to do whatever. He also thanked me for telling the truth. He said my body who of shut my metabolism down completely and I should just take the month to catch up. It would be fine with him if I just stayed the same this month. Good luck to you and dont be scared to ask anything!!!!

Well, I did ask and receive a 0.1cc fill. The nurse is kinda new to lapband but she said, "If you feel much difference in 0.1cc, I'll be amazed." Well, I do feel a significant difference! I can definitely tell I've had a fill! Thankfully it's not as rough a ride as my last fill was!

I take it the Nurse does NOT have a Lap-Band.

Everyuone that I know who is a long-term Lap-Band patient will tell you that a one-tenth of a CC fill or unfill makes a huge difference!

Bingo, Jack. That is where I think I am. I'm anxious to see how I feel in a week or two. So far restriction is perfect-o!!!

By the way....I looked it up and was freaking amazed to find out that 0.1cc is 0.02 of a teaspoon!!! That's very very tiny.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
