Congrats on the two weeks and the weight loss! I understand about the frustration with the job; however, I can only say that as you lose weight you gain confidence and that confidence will take you into the next stage or season of your life (as least it did for me). You'll ride up/down in an elevator with co-workers and you will not look at the floor but hold your head up and begin a conversation. You will have a sense of peace about who you are and that is worth more than any job. Stay the course, treat yourself with gentleness and kindness, remember this is a journey and enjoy the heck out of that journey. You got this.

This is very normal. Your body is still healing and trying to find its way, so to speak. You have lost 19 pounds. That is an accomplishment that can be celebrated. Be gentle with yourself and give yourself time. You got this. Stay the course.

Try to stay busy and keep your mind off food. It's hard when your tummy is rumbling but remind yourself about the life choice you are making. It helped me to make a list of the things I wanted to accomplish when losing weight, other can focusing on the scale and numbers. I kept the list in front of me. Now, after surgery, I'm finally checking some things off that list. It feels so good.
You can do the pre op diet. You got this.

Yeah! I know you are excited. I like the Premier shakes that you can purchase from Costco. I've tried most of the protein shakes and Premier is one of the better tasting options. I tried Muscle Milk. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.
Good luck with your surgery date!

I have three comments on this.
    1. This is the BEST blog entry I've read on this site. Ever.
    2. You should be published. Send it to SHAPE or other health and fitness magazines.
    3. Whoever wrote this SHOULD be a mother. Foster. Adopt. Hire a surrogate. Whatever it takes, make a child blessed, because they get to call you Mommy.

Sometimes, I think, you have to mourn what was and say your goodbyes to have closure. Then you can move forward. It's not unreal to be sad or even angry about losing the thing that meant a lot to us all--food. Once, when I was upset about failing another diet, a good friend told me, "You don't have to be perfect....you just have to be." I always strived for perfection on a diet, failed, beat myself up, and started over again. Now, after surgery, I think I finally understand the "being perfect" comment....I dont' have to be perfect....I just have to be...me.

definitely get itchy after taking the B12 vitamin. unfortunately, and to my great dismay (as a former potato lover), my tummy will not tolerate any type of potato in any form....the sleeve says, "no way i'm digesting this stuff.....and the sleeve instantly disposes of the problem...." .....sigh...

i was allowed to eat mushy food from day 1. it's my surgeon's practice to do this for three days and begin to move toward more solid food (we had a list). i stayed on the mushy food plan for a couple of weeks...it was easier on the tummy. i had the same concerns about quantity and purchased a food scale. i weigh everything, trying to keep things in the 2.5 - 3.5 ounce range. it keeps me from being too full and allows me to manage quantity more accurately. if you look at the calorie count for homemade chicken noodle soup you'll find it's not that bad for 4 ounces. i use fitnesspal to track calories and food. however, i was surprised at the amount of salt i was consuming in the mushy food stage. yikes! can we say water weight? i'm now in the habit of asking myself, "self....is the food you're about to eat healthy and will it nourish my body?" i try to let the sleeve guide to me. ...hmmm....others have named their sleeve....maybe it's time I gave mine a name.....
let your sleeve guide you.....don't sweat too much the first few weeks out...you're learning....

this is a great beginning to your story! Keep coming back and sharing whenever you find time for you. I can relate in so many ways to your story (as I am sure many of us here can) the main focus your story gave me was what also started me on my journey... my mom! my mom will be 60 this summer, she was totally awesome when I was really young (toddler up to around age 15 or 16) REALLY active, always doing something. Our roof was to repaired on our house and she was the first one up there! Then my sister passed away, 4 yrs later my mom had breast cancer, a year later, cancer is back, 2 yrs after she went through another major health problem.. next thing you know shes in a motorized scooter! 5'2" 325#! she cant walk because she spent so much time down and out now her weight wasn't letting her get up and around... in Feb 2012 she had a gastric bypass. She has lost 120#!!! she is out walking, goes shopping now, she takes walks with her little dog... I LOVE the change it has made. I started this journey because I started feeling lazier because of my weight, I was less likely to take the kids to the pool, less likely to go out to the playground... and I realized it wont be long before I am out shopping for my own motorized scooter! I do NOT think so!! Although its sad we cant always change the paths to where we are, we sure as heck can change direction to where we are going!

It will be different--but a good different. There will be pain, nausea, bandages and gas. Sometimes you will wonder if it was worth it. Then, one day you will wake up and feel normal but also healthy...and definitely lighter. You find a new optimism....
    You will find...well...you.
