Getting Nervous but excited to start my new life!

I am starting to get nervous! My surgery is on June 4th and the time is ticking away. I have started the pre-op diet and all I can say is I am hungry and grumpy. I have even resorted to chewing up small bits of food and spitting it out.(I know this is sad) I am hoping this will get easier. I am 32 years old and have decided to make this change for me. I was staring at my 3 year old last October, putting her to sleep, when I realized, I want to be around to see her get married and have children and be able to be in her life. At that moment I started to cry over what I had done to my body. My 3 year old looked up at me and said," don't cry mommy, it will be okay." She is a old soul. I made a vow right then that I would do everything to be around for both my children, my husband, and myself. I wasn't always obese. I was heavier but really toned for most of my childhood and early adulthood( I danced 40-50 hours a week). When I hit 22 I was faced with a life crisis when my ex-boyfriend was in a horrible accident. I chose to stay by his side and for his whole hospital stay(1 year) I stuck by him. This meant no exercise, and constant fast food and cafeteria food. I blossomed from 180 pounds to 290 in a year. I was disgusted with myself. Two years later, we had grown apart and I finally decided I was going to lose the weight. I went to my doctor and he gave me some nice pills and they worked. I lost 90 pounds. I was so happy!!! :D Then I got off the pills and gained it all back. :( I am now looking for a permanent solution. I was looking into the Lap Band but after going to a seminar quickly changed my mind. I have several friends who have had this done and they are so happy. I can't wait to feel healthy again. I hate feeling exhausted and disgusting. If anyone has any ideas how to make it through this pre-op diet please feel free to comment. Thank you!!!

If you can do a liquid diet with hunger in your stomach, think how nice it will be to do it post op without the hunger? I am 6 days post op and we had a bbq last night, I enjoyed waching my family eat good while I hade a small bowl of delicious tomato soup. Life is good!

Try to stay busy and keep your mind off food. It's hard when your tummy is rumbling but remind yourself about the life choice you are making. It helped me to make a list of the things I wanted to accomplish when losing weight, other can focusing on the scale and numbers. I kept the list in front of me. Now, after surgery, I'm finally checking some things off that list. It feels so good.

You can do the pre op diet. You got this.

I thought about the same thing as you..(chewing something, then spitting out),,when I go to my pre op..I like to look at others before and after pictures, for my inspiration..I hear the pre op is one of the hardest things to do, but my Nutritionist said it wont kill us,,we will survive! Hang in there!!

I am 5 days post surgery and worried that cooking for others would be really hard. Especially on a holiday weekend. I have had no problems cooking, serving food to my husband, grandkids, or guests. I always set a place for me - a pretty saucer and small (1/2 cup ) appetizer bowl with 3 ozs of protein soup, or a small, pretty juice glass with 3 ozs. of protein shake. I eat the soup with a baby spoon - the kids got a kick out of it. The reason I can do this is: I am not hungry! The pre-op diet got easier after a few days too.

I wish the best of luck on your journey!! I was very concerned before surgery as well, and let me tell you IT WAS ALL WORTH IT!! I only wish I had done it sooner!
