  1. I'm pre-op, and have decided to keep this to myself....went to lunch with a group of friends, including 1RNY patient, and one who is thinking about it.......they started talking about WLS, and I nearly told them what I've been up to.....would love to talk with them, but once you say the words, you can never get them back....and I'm just not ready to tell people....wish me luck, because I am not the best at keeping my mouth shut! LOL
  2. Everyone's insurance is different....it will take me 3 months to get my appointments in......the NUT appointments is what is taking some time as I need to have 3.....so one in May, June, and the last one July 1......Some insurance companies require 6 months....or other requirements...Good luck!
  3. No kids here either.....but will sure my will is up to date, DNR, and medical POA are in place...I have siblings, so anything I have from my grandparents will go to them, otherwise everything stays with hubby) (Vixynne....sorry to hear of your loss)
  4. I have no plans on telling anyone in the office. However, I have 4 weeks of vacation I can use.....good luck....
  5. I was talking to my hubby about what to expect immediately after post op.....its just the 2 of us.....I told him the first week or two post op he'd be on his own for meals, while I was on Clear liquids. He thought I was joking. He's a wonderful guy, but nurturing (or cooking) doesn't come easily for him. As long as he knows what to expect ahead of time, he's fine....I figure with planning I could have some meals in the freezer for him to nuke......I can't imagine cooking while being sore and on clear liquids. How did you handle meals for your significant other/family immediately post-op? Thanks!
  6. I found it to be a little on the salty side, similar to boullion......otherwise I thought it was good....the NUT suggested I experiment now so I have things lined up....
  7. Go to www.unjury.com .....they have a sample pack, 2 each I believe of unflavored, chicken soup, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry sorbet...I'm not a big strawberry fan, but they suggest mixing it with 8 oz of lemonade (crystal light variety) www.bjsbariatrics.com also has a sample pack for Syntrax nectar (you get to choose the flavors, there are quite a few....if you don't like coconut, avoid the caribbean one) They are currently out of fuzzy navel and vanilla bean, so my samples are back ordered....perhaps a 2 week delay unjury was about $28 and BJ's Bariatric was about $20 for the sample packs.....a nice way to try out the flavors w/o investing in a huge tub of it....
  8. Since the chicken broth flavor of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury is similar to broth with the addition of Protein, did anyone use this in the Clear liquids phase following surgery? I'll see my NUT in a few weeks, but thought I'd ask my inhouse experts
  9. Thanks.....just sent you an email....we were away for the weekend....
  10. What a difference 9 weeks can make! I want your arms and your flat stomach LOL Keep up the good work!
  11. I don't even have a date yet, and I'm apprehensive LOL But, as someone else mentioned, I am more afraid of what happens if I don't have WLS
  12. Just be truthful.....if you aren't honest with him/her, than you are only hurting yourself. We had a conversation, and that was it....she was looking for addictive tendencies, possible depression, mental illness, eating disorders, things like that....
  13. They did an EKG, and that was it besides talking about medical history and family medical history......my blood pressure was through the roof.....I hate going to new doctors...........he took it again afterwards, it was still ellevated, but had gone down a lot...even with the spike in BP, he cleared me for surgery...
  14. this texting while driving is so frustrating, and so many accidents could be prevented....Sorry about your car....thank goodness you will all be okay.
  15. Good morning! Wow, June 18 will be here before you know it! I have my last NUT appointment July 1st........then I meet with Dr. Floch and submit paperwork to the insurance..Did it take a long time to get a surgery date after being approved by your ins.? Have you done the mandatory pre-op session at the hospital? been to any of the support groups? The LSW suggested I attend one before the surgery. Best of luck!
  16. I am still pre-op, getting all the appointments in to satisfy the insurance...........I have told my sister (who had an RNY) and my husband......I don't have children, and I haven't told the rest of the family, because I saw how "supportive" they were when she had her surgery.........right now don't have any plans to tell anyone at this point, but that could change........if it would help someone, then I would. I have found when there is a major change in someone's life, people tend to focus on that, and I'd rather not have to defend my actions or have them focus on this...........good luck!
  17. I have a friend who did the lapband, she needed to lose 75 pounds, and she has nothing bad to say about it, she loves it.....she's 3 years out, and has no problems of any kind (just wanted to get that out there).....and looks fabulous. I've decided on the VSG because I don't want to deal with fills, the foreign object in my body and complications that can occur.......Ive read about a lof of revisions from lapband to RNY or VSG........and I don't want to go through this twice LOL Good luck with with whatever you decide to do.
  18. Mine was an hour long conversation. She touched on multiple subjects.....she was trying to see if I had an addictive nature (cigarettes, alcohol addictions), mental illness, and did I fully understand what was involved, and that VSG is not a quick fix.......it's interesting to see how these appointments vary from dr to dr.
  19. Congratulations! I started my journey April 9th with a visit to one of the seminars.........and will be lucky to have surgery in August......my last NUT appointment will be July 1st, and then we will submit paperwork to the insurance. Good luck!
  20. I had the same comment from the mental eval & NUT... and I thought the same thing about this site! I just wish all these appointments could be squeezed close together.......I hate the waiting. Good luck on your journey!
  21. Mine requires 3 visits, and they don't have to be a month apart....with how we've timed them, I'll be done July 1st with NUT visits.
  22. I'm in the same boat you are with Cigna.....thought it was 6 monthly visits with the NUT....wasn't happy when when I found out it was only 3......I had reservations, and thought in the 6 months I could work past them--have to put that in overdrive LOL Luckily after the mental health evaluation, I feel better about this........My last appointment is July 1.....it'll be here before you know it....
  23. I would talk with the doctors, even if it delays the surgery........personally I wouldn't want the bypass...the mal-absorption thing freaks me out.......a friend had an RNY and now has to get iron through an IV drip she was is so anemic...........
  24. I had my first meeting today, too.......she didn't change my diet one iotta........we just talked about pre and post op diets......will be interesting to see what the next 2 sessions are.
  25. I have to meet with the NUT 2 more times, have the endoscopy done (meeting with those folks next week) and have my physician fill out the paperwork (last month he said he would support me with WLS, so I just have to give it to him)....so I'm getting there....Good luck to you too!
