May 23, 201313 yr A lot of questions. Pretty obvious questions too like "do you feel like someone is out to get you" or "do you want to leave home" it's long and draining. Some doctors do different things like number sequences and naming the last 5 presidents. Ugh that's what I went through. But overall it's not bad. Best wishes.

I just thought you sat down with a psychologist and they made sure you understood some of the mental aspects of what this surgery will mean for you. I didn't realize they were checking to make sure you shouldn't be put in the nut house.
May 23, 201313 yr Mine was an hour long conversation. She touched on multiple subjects.....she was trying to see if I had an addictive nature (cigarettes, alcohol addictions), mental illness, and did I fully understand what was involved, and that VSG is not a quick fix.......it's interesting to see how these appointments vary from dr to dr.
May 23, 201313 yr once I got there it took like 30 minutes on the paperwork, lots of health questions and then also asked stuff about depression then once I saw Doc he went over the paperwork asked if I had a support group, how long I had been overweight what I was most afraid of, just general questions talked with doc for about 30 minutes, he was very nice and made me feel very at ease.
May 23, 201313 yr Author It was amazing ...I got there he asked everyday life questions, anxiety or depression , and also educated me a little more on the surgery and what to expect. He finished our session saying I'm glad I could make a beautiful woman smile!!! That made my day.
May 23, 201313 yr Mine was a 565 questions, the MMPI 2 test that they use for real nut cases. A lot of strange questions. Then I had 20 minutes with the psychiatrist going over the procedure and making sure I understood everything and the changes that will be necessary. The psych said it would take 10 days to complete my report. This is at a Bariatric Center of Excellence. I think the psych eval varies a lot depending on where you get your surgery done and who is paying for it (insurance, etc.)
